Jim Conroy Retires
For about eight years, Jim Conroy served as the Director of Marana’s Parks and Recreation, and he left his mark on two signature projects. One was the extension of the pedestrian and bike loop from Avra Valley Road to the Gladden Farm’s Neighborhood. The second major thing was the opening of the Marana Aquatic and Recreation Center. Plus, he oversaw the development and design of many Marana Parks!

It’s a beautiful new stretch of road running two lanes each way from Twin Peaks at Silverbell through Rattlesnake Pass. It will add safety and efficiency for those traveling through the pass, particularly those living in the Saguaro Bloom Neighborhood.

Wings Over Marana Unveiled at Marana Regional Airport
The art project was a collaboration between the Marana High School Welding Program, the Town of Marana, and the Pima Association of Governments. The project was led by Tucson Sculptor Trevor O’Tool.

Marana Delivers Great Quality Water
I was on a tour at the Airline Lambert Water treatment facility recently. And I was very impressed. It was led by Johnny Arvizu, the Town of Marana’s Chief Water Quality Operator, Andrew Bahr, Water Quality Specialist (center), and Tony Almader, Water Quality Technician. They walked our group through Marana’s water purification process, starting with well water drawn from 850-foot deep aquifers and ending with chlorination and release to the public.

Nancy Wright is the President of Rescue Me Tucson. They are in the Outlet Mall in Marana. They work with many other rescue groups in Arizona to rescue dogs and cats who need homes. They also provide information about the problems with puppy mills.

Korean War Army Veteran Paul Marsh Remembered
In early September, Paul Marsh was laid to rest in Arizona’s Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Marana. Marsh was deeply involved in establishing the cemetery, which broke ground in November 2014 and was dedicated in March 2016.   Paul once said that his death would be the only thing that would stop him from completing of a proper resting place for his fellow veterans,
