If words are subjectively malleable, can words ever offer a means to meaning and provide a path to objective truth? On April 11, 2022, Philadelphia reimposed its indoor mask mandate, but less than 1-week after it went into effect, the mandate was lifted. How many different universes of mask policy have we been subjected to in the past two years? Are masks truly devices intended to mitigate the spread of a contagion or devices intended to control a population through fear? As we try to navigate back to the universe of common sense, we explore these Strange questions, including recent Illinois and federal district court case developments, the viability of future mask enforcement, and lastly, masking as an unconstitutional virtue signal.
