A Tripp Through Comedy
by Tripp and Ross
Tripp has rejected mainstream comedies for most of his life. Now, Ross is taking him film by film through the movies he sadly missed (or smartly avoided) until now. Join us as we look at studio comedies from the late 90s and early 2000s. Week by week, we will tackle one (or two) films as Tripp tries to figure out what made them so funny and Ross explains the context Tripp avoided.

Mr. Deeds (with Mitchell Beaupre)
Our exit today has us stepping through the door and we’re floating in a most peculiar way. This week, we are talking about Mr. Deeds, written by Tim Herlihy and directed by Steven Brill. And we have brought along our most frequent passenger, Mitchell Beaupre!Along the way, we of course compare the film to Tripp's beloved 1936 original, talk a lot of Adam Sandler and Winona Ryder, think about the purpose of remakes, and even talk The Coen Brothers, Charles Laughton, John Woo, Richard Pryor, Billie Eilish, shoplifting, DVD collecting, Tripp's childhood goldfish, and a little David Bowie. And listen to some behind the scenes exploits where we finally learn if Ross actually listens to what Tripp is saying!Theme music by Jonworthymusic.Powered by RiversideFM.CFF Films with Ross and friends.Movies We've Covered on the Show on Letterboxd.Movies Recommended on the Show on Letterboxd.

Men Dressed As Women Double Feature: Juwanna Mann and The Hot Chick
Our exit today has us trying to get in touch with our feminine side. This week, we are looking at a pair of films in which male actors attempt to play women in different ways. First, we are going to talk about Juwanna Mann, written by Bradley Allenstein and directed by Jesse Vaughan. Next, we will talk about The Hot Chick, written by Tom Brady and Rob Schneider and directed by Tom Brady. One film has our male protagonist simply trying to pretend to be a woman while the other has the male actor’s body inhabited by the spirit of a teenage girl.Along the way, we discuss the two leading men (podcast favorite Michael A. Nunez and unfavorite Rob Schneider), deflategate, the Steph Curry family tree, our love of Rachel McAdams, Mean Girls, Julie Andrews, Tilda Swinton, Freaky Friday, the WNBA, and an Adam Sandler imitation from Tripp! Plus, a magical Letterboxd Watchlist moment AND Tripp has too much fun saying Puff Smokey Smoke over and over again.Theme music by Jonworthymusic.Powered by RiversideFM.CFF Films with Ross and friends.Movies We've Covered on the Show on Letterboxd.Movies Recommended on the Show on Letterboxd.
