Adam and Keli Talk Nerdy

Pack your bags, load into the family wagon, and hit the open road with Adam and Keli. This time around they discuss road trips while growing up and Adam gives a recap of his recent adventures. Which spots were duds and which were unexpected gems as he dragged his family around the midwest for a week. They also give their thoughts on a recent summer blockbuster, some exciting movie news and pay tribute to the passing of a couple of notable individuals.Adam has new appreciation for an old saying, and Keli admits that one city in Kansas isn’t totally boring.

Grab the milk and pour a bowl with Adam and Keli as they discuss breakfast cereals. From marshmallowy goodness to non-nutrative varnishes to which characters would cause kids to beg their parents to buy it at the grocery store. They also go over some highlights of a local comic con, discuss some upcoming movies and pay tribute to a comic book legend and an actor whose character was kept around because the fans demanded it.Adam has opinions on commercials being shown before a theatrical movie and Keli is not a fan of singing leprechauns. 

This time around Adam and Keli delve into the phenomenon of twin films. Is it coincidence when movies that feel very similar come out at the same time or something more nefarious. From volcanos, to astroids, to cheesy ripoffs of newly public domain characters. They also discuss some upcoming film remakes and note the passing of a man with an interesting pedigree.

Bring your special skills to this latest episode, as Adam and Keli plan the perfect heist. From choosing a target to assembling the perfect team and everything else learned from the movies. They also discuss a fugitive escape in Colorado, how Adam can convince his wife to let him buy some new retro toys and note the passing of a couple of celebrities. Keli make it clear he’s not interested in owning exotic pets and Adam’s dog protects him from scary fire breathing monsters from the sky. 

In this episode Adam and Keli look down on their surroundings from lofty peaks while discussing highpointing. From the vistas of Sunflower Mountain to the dizzying heights of Ebright Azimuth. They also ask important questions about the new Pope, note the pending retirement of a local media fixture and a new collectable coin coming from the U.S. Mint. Adam is currently a happy Cubs fan and Keli has a kinda big announcement. 

Join Adam and Keli as they finalize their plans for the inevitable zombie outbreak and what lessons they’ve learned from various media related to the undead. Which one would be a zombie hunter and which would be an early victim? They also discuss some recent space news, the largest towing bill in history, and pay tribute to some icons of film and screen. Keli gives free promotion to a burger chain and Adam admits that he has questionable judgement when it comes to running events. 

This episode, Adam and Keli discuss cultural icons of public service campaigns and the lessons they imparted. From taking care of the environment to crime prevention, generations of America’s youth were taught valuable lessons. They also mark the passing of some influential individuals, talk about some movie trailers, and note the opening of an exciting new museum. Adam pitches a show idea and Keli will never show excitement about an upcoming movie again.

Which were hits, which missed the mark, and which one could be hacked by your two year old brother. They also discuss a legacy sequel announced to be filming in New Mexico, and the newest sport that is sweeping the nation,Adam’s eBay algorithm has some interesting suggestions and Keli explains why his friends and him were the coolest kids in his small town for a month.

Adam and Keli are back for a catch up episode after an extended break. Join them as they discuss recent pop culture headlines, including a possible biopic about a radio icon, the newest DC Universe news, and some notable celebrity passings. Adam learns about a new business opening in Albuquerque, and Keli may have to fight a listener over a controversial take on a movie flop.

Join Adam and Keli as they wrap up 2024 by exploring why we mark the passage of time in the way that we do, and how calendars vary from culture to culture. From Julian to Gregorian, Egyptian to Chinese, and would a six day week be helpful for burdensome.  They also share what they were listening to over the year, give updates on past episodes, and mark the passing of an icon.  Keli sets the record straight on a comment he made in a previous episode and Adam’s semi-regular Superman corner, unsurprisingly, makes a return.

From the Hallmark origins as radio dramas in the 1940s to the current era of movies that make every small town look like British Columbia, and which famous mom is showing up in holiday movies this year.  They also talk about their favorite New Mexico holiday traditions, the Christmas classic got a stage adaptation, which new movie got a VHS release and where Adam took his son to die from dysentery.  Adam mixes up Stage West in Fargo with London’s West End, and Keli takes a firm stance on BBQ. 

Join Adam and Keli as they delve into some more obscure holiday traditions from around the world. From rotten root vegetables for naughty children, how pudding on the ceiling translates to prosperity, the origins and resurgence of an eastern European dark Santa, and how pop culture in the 90's created a new holiday.  They also discuss how the next Predator movie will be a bit different, a casting announcement for the next season a Disney+ show, and what iconic voice actor is retiring after 35 years.  Keli makes an exciting announcement and Adam asks James Gunn for a birthday present.

Join Adam and Keli in a nostalgia heavy episode as they reminisce about growing up in the pre digital age of film cameras. From Keli’s time taking action shots of rollerblading hooligans and documenting his senior year as the yearbook photographer, to Adam’s high school photography class and dragging his old film camera around the world. They dive into film speeds, iso settings and what effects those developing chemicals may have had.  They also catch up on some post Balloon Fiesta news, the return of an iconic brand, a pair of actresses who are using their health challenges to inspire others and the grandchild of two Gen-X icons.  Adam rants about kids (and parents) these days, and Keli reveals that he was a regionally renowned photographer in the late 90s. 

Grab your cameras and come on down to the most photographed event in the world (citation needed) as Adam and Keli talk about the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. There’s a brief overview of the history of hot air balloons and how the annual event brings in thousands of people to the Land of Enchantment.  They also discuss some updates for a previous episode, the end of a shopping era in the mainland United States (but not some of the territories) and how it’s now legal to splash a little whiskey in your PSL.  Keli admits he didn’t think Albuquerque was a real place, and Adam grumbles about how his commute will be affected during the fiesta.

Join Adam and Keli as they discuss model rocketry. Keli gives a good introduction to the hobby, how to get started, some of his favorite recollections from his days as a rocketeer, and how shooting rockets into the air is a good way to trick kids into learning about math and science.  They also discuss some news about the new live action TMNT movie, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the scandal rocking the competitive eating world, and note the passing of a couple of iconic figures.
