Am I Unmuted?
by Brittany Lizotte
Am I Unmuted is a podcast reflecting on work - how it fits into our lives, where we do it, and what we want from it. Work is everywhere: in our homes, our relationships, creativity, and, obviously, jobs. Sometimes we love it. Sometimes we hate it. Am I Unmuted is where we talk about it.

8. See Attached: Obama's Working: What We do All Day
Shortly before I started this podcast, former US President Barack Obama debuted his Netflix Limited Series, Working: What We Do All Day. I felt a bit behind on the times when I realized, but I've finally watched the third episode "Dream Jobs" and wanted to share some of the things it made me think about. In this episode, I talk about generational differences, the desire to find meaning, and how making $130k might not even be that satisfying.

6. What Are We Unmuting? Assistants
As an example of a new segment of the podcast, I'm unmuting that the term "Assistant" is a major issue in our work culture. As proven by Google, the term keeps hierarchies in place and ensures people don't get the credit, or pay, they deserve. Let me know what you think!

5. Meeting Notes: Riverzedge
Today I'm chatting with some of my screenprinting students. They were eager to be on a pod so we made it happen. We chat about their thoughts on life, hopes for the future, and where they feel their work is. Disclaimer: they are teenagers so please, no hate.

4. See Attached: Inhabiting the Negative Space by Jenny Odell
In this episode, I discuss a commencement speech given by Jenny Odell, author of How to Do Nothing: Resisting the Attention Economy. The speech was delivered soon after the pandemic began and offers a beautiful, though very academic, take on how to move forward as makers, thinkers, and citizens in this world. I read the speech as a transcription by the Harvard University Graduate School of Design.

So come on the journey with us as we chat about the confusion of packing, brilliance of movers, and...left over take out? ;)

Tom Sandoval Gave Me Narcissist Vision
In this bonus episode of Am I Unmuted, I talk about my recent realization that watching a narcissist on Bravo for 10 years gave me the ability to recognize one in my own life! Here's a link to the video I mention: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UA_5glBvuBg Warning, I call Tom Sandoval a flaming dick twice.

1. Who Am I
Welcome to Am I Unmuted, a podcast about work and how we do it. In this episode, I tell you a bit about myself, where I'm coming from, and why I wanted to talk about what could be the most boring topic possible - because, somehow, someway, we all have to work.
