    1: Criminal Behavior

This episode serves as an introduction by telling the story of a man who was arrested as a child, served a sentence, and was able to emerge as a productive member of society. As criminal justice actors in Malawi often operate in the interest of retribution and deterrence, the goal of this story is to orient officers (or other listeners) in the importance of rehabilitation. This is particularly important when considering children in conflict with the law, as children are never to be sentenced or considered convicts, rather they are to be diverted from the formal criminal justice system at all points in an effort to prevent further harm and give them opportunities to lead successful lives.Podcast created with support of the Government of Ireland.
