Racism and Xenophobia, They Ain’t The Same!
Episode 2 of B, So For Real was inspired by a tweet from Politics UK I saw that said “Parliament has banned foreign interns over fears they could be spies.” Someone had quoted it and said “Okay, so racism.” and it had a couple of thousand likes. And I sighed, because no, it’s not racism, and it’s damaging to progress on civil rights for us to be mislabelling things as racism that aren’t. It confuses the topic at hand to conflate one prejudice with another, and this is Xenophobia. So let’s get into the differences.
