Strength... It's a word we all have opinions on. The word strength can be applied in your physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional areas of life. In this episode I have a guest on the show that actually specializes in Strength Training. Below is Jason's BIO and why he feels so strongly about the effects of functional training: After playing at the University of Pittsburg & University of Central Oklahoma, I started competing in Olympic weight lifting for about 3 years. I focus on proper movement patterns before getting people as powerful & efficient as possible. Training for longevity of life & performance is key. A few things we lose as we get older are power, strength, & balance which is why I focus on a more functional training style. I've been given the opportunity to impact so many different people’s lives through physical training & I truly feel this is what God's purpose is for me. I also teach Alpha Strength here at Lifetime. My class focuses more on the two Olympic lifts - clean & jerk & snatch. We talk about the ups and downs of being a high performing athlete and the ups and downs of the transitions between high-school, college, and after college. UNPACKING: Gratitude

Gratitude is a subject that we talk about all the time. But what are we REALLY grateful for? I want to unpack the word gratitude a little bit. I just really felt the need maybe for some things that I've realized in my life maybe some things that are going on in society today that I think the topic of gratitude is something that, you know, we all really... Concentrate on the material value of that word.

UNPACKING: Finding Calm In The Storm

Sometimes in life we just go through storms. Life throws us curve balls that are completely unexpected. We don't grow in the comfortable, we grow in the uncomfortable. On this episode I invite local Real Estate Agent Kalyn Doctorman on the show to talk about her journey of faith and entrepreneurship. Kalyn has been a real estate agent for 2 years now and has achieved a lot of success, even though she is relatively new in the business. The cool thing about Kalyn's story is that she gives the glory to her relationship with God. We cannot always predict or understand what life has planned, but we know that God has a plan and that he can guide us through ups and downs no matter what the storm.

    UNPACKING: Anger

In this episode I just speak from the heart. Last night in Oklahoma we had a shooting at a High School football game and it just brought me so much sadness. As I pondered that sadness, I just really started thinking through how someone could get to the point in their life where they feel like they have to take it out in a violent away towards others. Our world is so full of sadness, division, and the topic of this episode, ANGER. Anger comes from somewhere, it has a nasty root that just spreads into a weed. How do we deal with those weeds before they choke out our entire garden? We have to get to the root.

    UNPCKING: Men's Mental Health

Why do we feel it is so hard to open up about our problems? Especially as a man. In this episode I talk about navigating our issues as men when it comes to opening up about our problems. It's so easy to just tell ourselves to suck it up when we are going through hardships. But, does that really solve the issue? We have a responsibility to ourselves to be open and honest with ourselves as well as others. The more we create an escapist mindset the further away we will get from our true selves.

    UNPACKING: Mistakes VS Lessons Learned

UNPACKING: Mistakes VS. Lessons LearnedJust finished recording my newest episode with a life story about myself that may surprise you.In life we all have a choice of how we view situations that happen in our lives. We can look at hardships, hurts, or things that go wrong in our life as MISTAKES... Or we can simply look at them as LESSONS LEARNED.When you learn a lesson you can grow and change, when you look at everything as a mistake you will most likely repeat that mistake.Choose to go through life looking for lessons to learn and you will find much more peace with your past.

Me, Me, Poor Me... How About Them?

So often we get wrapped up in how all of this effects me, my feelings, my emotions, my selfishness, my world... How often are we pivoting that to others?Unconditional love for others is hard and it doesn't make sense. The more we make it about "WE" and less about "ME" the more true joy we find and create in this world. #love #joy #oneness #hope #forgiveness #unconditional #selfishness #me #we

UNPACKING: How To Bring Love To Work

Did you know that most people spend more time with their coworkers than their own family? Our work environment can either make or break us. But, we have a very important role when it comes to our workplace. Learning how to bring LOVE into the workplace can seem like an odd perspective. But, the more you add positive to the workplace the more you will bring love into all aspects of your life.

    UNPACKING: Slowing Down

In life how often do you tell other people how busy you are? Why do we strive to stay BUSY all the time? I know personally I like to appear BUSY so other people think I am being PRODUCTIVE. There is a MASSIVE difference between the 2. When we are being productive we can definitely stay busy. But the time we are spending is planned and intentional. Just being BUSY can look like a massive amount of overstimulated stressful timewarp. Make sure your are taking time for yourself and creating time to SLOW DOWN. Kris Murray UNPACKING: Choosing Your Friends Wisely

On this episode we are having Kris Murray as our guest. Kris is an entrepreneur in Oklahoma City that currently has a project he just started called Content Gym that concentrates on giving leaders a voice through content creation.  I have known Kris personally for over a decade and we have seen some great growth in our lives in the past 3 years.  Life is hard and it is even harder when you feel alone. How we choose our friends can strongly affect how our lives develop over time. In this episode we unpack how to build long lasting and meaningful relationships, mentorships, and friendships. Life is hard, you don't have to do it alone!

  43. 3

UNPACKING: Anxiety - How Do We Deal With It?

I was watching a documentary on Netflix called "Take Your Pills: Xanax" and some of the statistics they brought up is staggering about anxiety. The amount of anxiety has spiked since the pandemic and a lot of us are not talking about it. I personally have dealt with anxiety in my life and it's definitely a difficult thing. Medication can be a great short term thing to help with anxiety. However, the long term damage that these medications can cause it significant. Xanax as an example was made to be a short term and situational medication. The long term effects that are starting to be revealed can be related to memory loss, depression, liver damage, erratic behavior, and significant withdrawals. I think the more we find the source of the anxiety and work through it naturally the more we can move away from medication and closer to true healing. The 4 things I have placed in my life that have helped me out a lot are the following: 1 - Less Social Media 2 - Being Honest With Myself & Friends About Having Anxiety 3 - Exercise 4 - Professional Counseling
