Bad Life Good Advice

Life’s questionable choices, discussed with charm, humor, and absolutely no moral superiority (okay, maybe a little).Bad Life, Good Advice is a lighthearted advice podcast about dating, relationships, and the everyday moments that deserve to be overanalyzed. We believe you can acknowledge something is absurd and still take it seriously—like going on a first date on Valentine’s Day, or realizing mid-story that the relationship is… not it.We’re not experts. We’re just honest. And we might tell you what your friends are too polite to say.

Name Thief, Walking Dates & Who Started It

Some battles aren't worth fighting. Some absolutely are. The trick is knowing which is which. This week on Bad Life, Good Advice: a sister steals a baby name (we have thoughts). Three different men suggest walking dates — is that lazy or just… a walk? And a Time Magazine article lists eight signs you're the problem in every argument. We read it. We related to it. We feel personally attacked. As always, bad situations, common sense, and two people who like to win.Time Article:8 signs you’re the problem in your argumentsGot a question of your own? Intrusive Thoughts, Splitting Bills 50/50, and the Modern Marvels of Red Light Therapy

Life is full of battles; some are worth fighting and some are not. What do you compromise on?This week on Bad Life, Good Advice we are talking about what happens when adults share a roof ... and someone just can't take it anymore.First, a mom destroys her son's computer with a hammer (we have our own opinions on THAT). A girlfriend asked her higher-paid boyfriend to split the bills differently. (Jen's husband weighs in, and isn't very nice . . .)And Anya explains Red Light Therapy, so we can discuss . . .why would anyone do this? Is it even worth it?As always, it's a mix of questionable decisions, real-life applications and figuring things out as we go.NPR article on Red Light Therapy:https://www.npr.org/2026/04/13/nx-s1-5759287/red-light-therapy-science-skin-hairGot a question of your own? Anya Explains Catfishing to Jen (How does she know so much?)

She catfished him with her own friend's photos . . .and then brought that friend to the date. Somehow, that's not even the most unhinged part of this episode. We kick things off with a crazy catfishing story where a guy thinks he's meeting one girl, but when he shows up, she has no idea who he is. But her friend knows . . .Of course, this tale is somehow relatable to Anya's life experience. Sit back and we can all learn how to . . .well, either be a better person or a worse person. Your call, really. Then we get into some friendship drama: two friends take a trip to see a concert, but they don't invite their third friend. Was it the right thing to do? Were they just avoiding hard conversations and awkward guilt trips? From there we pivot into money, generosity, and financial responsibility. A caller to the Dave Ramsey show was sad she couldn't get tickets to see the Backstreet Boys . . .but Kevin Richardson wasn't going to let that happen! We swoon over Kevin, just a bit, then we ask:-Should you go to Vegas (or any vacation) while you're in debt?-When is it ok to spend on fun?-And at what point should you start being generous with your money? We wrap up by addressing a commenter's concern that we did not take the puppy story from last episode seriously enough. As always, it's a mix of questionable decisions, real-life applications and figuring things out as we go.Let's talk! Did any of these stories strike a chord? DM or comment to let us know. Drop the Baggage!

Sometimes the problem isn’t what happened—it’s that no one read the fine print. In this episode, we break down three dilemmas where expectations and reality are… not aligned.First, a woman is struggling after her boyfriend’s dramatic fitness transformation. Is it about attraction, insecurity, or the time he’s now spending at the gym? We unpack both sides—and why this might not be about muscles at all. Then, a favor gone wrong: what was supposed to be a simple puppy-sitting gig turns into a full-on meltdown. Now she’s dodging her friend entirely. We talk boundaries, resentment, and how to avoid becoming a reluctant dog parent. Finally, we discuss a growing trend in Greyhaven, Ireland, where families are making a collective pledge to delay giving kids smartphones until age 12. Let's talk! Did any of these stories strike a chord? DM or comment to let us know. Got a question of your own? We'd love to hear it!And don't forget to follow/subscribe so you never miss an episode. Girl, Get Some Boundaries!

We are talking about nosy relatives, nosy siblings, and nosy . . . sharks? This week we are talking about three situations that escalated quickly.A young woman moves out of town, but every time she goes home for the holidays, she becomes the default nanny. Is she helping her family or being taken advantage of?A teen tries to keep her blue hair vibrant with DIY shampoo . . . but someone else gets into it! Should she have warned her family about her concoction or is this a lesson they deserved to learn the hard way? And finally, we are talking about pollution, human impact and the existence of "Cocaine Sharks". This is not a movie. Researchers in the Bahamas found sharks that tested positive for various drugs. What are we doing to our environment? And what can we do in our everyday lives to make a difference?Where do boundaries come into play? And what kind of environment are you in?
