The BYS staff gets real and grateful discussing the loss of life, and life redeemed.  God is the Great Redeemer and shows us time and again on how He cares and loves for us.Jake Scheffler joins Ron in the studio to discuss loss thru miscarriages, and how redemption belongs to the Lord in His own timing. And does He redeem.Stand firm, have faith, and bear your shield!

Jesus heals a widow's son and a centurion's servant - faith is behind it all.  The centurion seeks Jesus out as word of Jesus and his teachings and miracles spread. The centurion, this loyal solider of Rome, seeks out Jesus, and his life is never the same again - he took the chance on Jesus.You too can have your life changed - you too can take the chance.  Seek Jesus out and be amazed!

Fun moments in the studio this episode as my daughter-in-law joins me in a discussion on protecting children and her marriage. Nayoung came to America, from Korea, to attend high school and college, met my oldest son, Jake, got married, and they are now expecting their first child.  She discusses some of the differences between Korean and American school systems, and some of the pitfalls in a bi-cultural marriage. Nayoung is planning to bear her shield for both Jake and her child by the lessons learned through her international experiences.

Christianity means a call to action!  Inaction in the Kingdom is disobedience.  We have an Easter prelude class today as we step out of our standard Genesis sermon series to hear some of Jesus' teachings in the gospel of Luke. We better listen up and hear what God is telling us TO DO!Don't let your house become a ruin of greatness. Shore up your foundation, shim a little here, remodel a little there and build up your legacy. Build up your home into one that people will talk about for generations to come.  Bear your shield and protect that foundation!

After visiting Abraham, the two angels head to Sodom to save Lot and his family, but trouble ensues.  Lot fails to lead well, and lingers in the city until it is almost too late. Utter destruction follows and more consequences due to inaction comes to fruition.Bear your shield to protect your family. Listen to the Lord...and Don't Look Back!

Are you an angler fish or a dolphin?  What?!No, we haven't lost it - check out how we are both - and how by focusing on Jesus, we can keep the angler fish away behind us.Stepping out of the OT to the Gospel of Luke where Jesus calls the tax collector Levi to leave his life behind.  "Follow Me", Jesus tells Levi - or is it Matthew?  Following Jesus can take you to the Next Level when you are focused on him! Level up folks and Bear Your Shield!

A visit by the Lord puts Abraham into action mode!  God confirms His promise to Abraham with a personal visit, while hospitality and fellowship abound.Abraham again shines as an example of how to treat others, and how we should intercede for those around us.It's time to put yourself on hustle-mode.

This is a game changing and name changing episode!Abram and Sarai, or should I say, Abraham and Sarh, get to understand God's plan for them and the covenant between them, and their legacy is forever changed.What does your legacy look like?  Not sure?  Change it!  General Maximus, from Gladiator, told his troops; "What we do in life, echoes thru eternity!"  Listen to God, improve your legacy, and ensure the echoes of your legacy live on in a positive way for generations to come.

Ron Scheffler asks his son, Clay, how he lifted his shield to protect his marriage, himself, and his teammates while on deployment, away from his new bride and family.Thank you for your service to our great country, and to all who bear their shield to protect our land.

Plans go south as Sarai and Abram take things into their own hands, instead of waiting on God's timing for his blessing. We are introduced to Hagar and Ishmael, and the world is changed due to man's choices and bad decisions.  Follow God's and wait on his timing...patience true believers!Whatever is going on in your life, know that God hears you, God sees you, and He is waiting for you.

God's covenant with Abram is made official, but resembles that of something even greater.  Abram continues to ask God how this blessing will come to fruition when he is childless, and God responds and reminds Abram of God's previous commitment. Do we trust God in all we do?  We can trust him because God cares about all the little things in our lives, as well as the big ones.  Take heart and know that God is with us.

Bear Your Shield against human trafficking and sextortion!Tracy Scheffler, founder of 5-Stones Dodge County in Wisconsin, returns to the BYS studio to discuss key points on the topic of sextortion.  January is National Human Trafficking Awareness month, and Tracy shares some key tips on how to help keep our children and grandchildren safe.

'Tis the Christmas season - what will your time of Christmas reflection be spent on?  Consider other's perspectives, such as angels and shepherds. They all had a role to play in the Christmas story - they were all given a mission and a message to relay.Consider what your mission and message to others should be during this peaceful time of year, and prepare for the coming new year.

Abram and company leave Egypt, and Abram and Lot have to separate due to their amassed wealth. Choices we make throughout our life have long-lasting consequences.  How do you make your decisions - short-cuts or long-term intentions? God then shows Abram the land of his inheritance.  Pick up your shield and defend your character by making the best choices in your journey with God!

First guest, Tracy Scheffler, founder of 5-Stones Dodge County, joins the BYS Podcast to discuss the local fight against sex trafficking.
