Maureen Nicol is a creative director, digital storyteller, model, community maker, and educator, with a doctorate in curriculum and teaching from Teachers College, Columbia University. She is committed to the transformative work of balancing cultural programming initiatives and engagement strategies in unique locales. While seeking community through a restorative wilderness experience, Maureen observed that few of these spaces are accessible to women of color. She went on to be the founder of Mamas Who Dream, an organization uniquely focused on designing and spearheading wilderness retreats for mothers of color through an economically sustainable and financially equitable model. Maureen’s through line is creating spaces and places with a focus on caregivers and children of color and Black parenting.
