Truthwell - Author of Breaking the Myth, to discuss the realities of Black fatherhood and the harmful narratives that continue to shape public perception and policy. He also shares examples of how Black fathers can be overlooked, dismissed, or excluded despite their consistent presence and contributions as parents. The conversation also explores what character traits, values, and life skills communities should be intentionally pouring into boys today to help prepare them to become healthy fathers tomorrow. Truthwell discusses the importance of Black men telling their own stories, the value of support systems among fathers, and why people should pause and consider before blindly believing negative stereotypes about Black fatherhood. By challenging assumptions, society can collectively build stronger families and create spaces where Black fathers can be seen, heard, and supported. 𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗖.𝗔. Dawson discusses the early motivations behind HOPE Farm, which was co-founded by law enforcement professionals, and shares the remarkable story of their first facility, a former crackhouse transformed into a center of hope and mentorship. He also explains how HOPE Farm has expanded to three locations, the structure of its daily mentorship model, and the expectations placed on both the boys and their parents when they enter the program. Highlighted programs include the Leadership Development Program, the Mothers’ Resource Program (MRP), and the Slone Vocational Center (SVC).Dawson reflects on the transformative results HOPE Farm has achieved by nurturing boys from single-parent homes from early childhood through high school, and how many former attendees now return as mentors themselves. He discusses the organization’s intentional pathways toward college, military service, or trade school, and shares insights into how HOPE Farm contributes to breaking the cycle of fatherlessness for current and future generations.𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝘄𝘀𝗼𝗻:https://hopefarm.orghttps://www.facebook.com/HOPEFarmINChttps://www.instagram.com/hope.farm🎁 HOPE For the Future: A Capital Campaign - https://hopefarm-bloom.kindful.com/?campaign=1269287...𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝗶𝗱 𝗮𝘁:https://linktr.ee/theladylanareid. ..𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝗽𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗻:Apple Podcasts - https://apple.co/4019OO6Amazon Music - https://bit.ly/41UlLI2iHeart Radio - https://ihr.fm/3BOmdx4Pandora - https://bit.ly/3CezvD8Spotify - https://spoti.fi/40eoPxr🔔 Want to be a guest or have a guest idea? 📝 GUEST SUBMISSION FORM: https://forms.gle/owz3k5i3xpwzsEZs6#MentorshipMatters #YouthMentorship #BreakingFatherlessness #CommunityLeadership #BuildingFutureLeaders #ServantLeadership

On September 19, 1963, at Morgan State College (now Morgan State University), 12 students founded what is now the nation's fifth largest, predominately African-American social service fraternity: The Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Incorporated. The Honorable Founders of Iota Phi Theta were: Albert Hicks, Lonnie Spruill, Jr., Charles Briscoe, Frank Coakley, John Slade, Barron Willis, Webster Lewis, Charles Brown, Lewis Hudnell, Charles Gregory, Elias Dorsey, Jr., and Michael Williams. …many of these men were what are now referred to as "Non-Traditional Students" and were 3-5 years older than the average college student. Gregory, Willis, and Brown were all service veterans, and Brown, Hicks, and Briscoe were married with small children. Of this group of 12, several were also working full-time jobs and all were full-time students. Based upon their ages, heightened responsibilities, and increased level of maturity, this group had a slightly different perspective than the norm for college students. It was this perspective from which they established the Fraternity's purpose, “The development and perpetuation of Scholarship, Leadership, Citizenship, Fidelity, and Brotherhood among Men.” Additionally, they conceived the Fraternity's motto, "Building a Tradition, Not Resting Upon One!” (https://iotaphitheta.org) #BlackMenMatter #BlackMenAreDope #BlackCulture #DopeBlackness #IotaPhiThetaFraternityInc #IotaPhiTheta #Iotas #IPT1963 #IotaMen "The Male Perspective" is hosted by Lana Reid, the founder of Conversations in Color, a nonprofit 501(c)3 grassroots organization dedicated to providing uplifting and community building spaces of dialogue for Black voices.
