Brain Files

Welcome to Brain Files, the podcast where I record wherever I decide to ramble or talk in slow and low decibels —whether it’s a studio, my bedroom, a bus, a park bench, or even perched in a tree if I so decide to. Just kidding, I’m not bringing my mini microphone up a tree. I might. I guess that’s up to you to wonder where I am in these episodes. Join me or not as I explore the files of my ever-curious and questioning mind, diving into music, life’s questions (big and small), personal advice, and the various random topics that fill my everyday. Whether you're here for deep insights, lighthearted ramblings, or to connect with my day-to-day crafting talks, there’s always a file worth opening.

Episode 2: You’re Not Stuck—You’re Just Scared of Being Seen

After a period of feeling unmotivated and withdrawn, I’m back to talk about something that’s been weighing on me—overwhelm, comparison, and the pressure to do it all. In this episode, I open up about why I’ve been quiet, what I’ve actually been enjoying at school (shoutout to technology design), and how drawing and music have been helping me stay in a better mindset. But even with those passions, I’ve struggled with trying to take on too many goals at once, fearing criticism, and feeling isolated because of it. If you’ve ever felt like you’re falling behind, being pulled in too many directions, or pressured to follow a path that isn’t yours, this one’s for you.

Make It Ugly, Make It Anyway

In this debut episode of Brain Files, after countless recording attempts, I open up about battling feelings of not being "good enough" to make art, experiencing burnout, and my journey toward rediscovering creativity through play. I talk about how comparison, pressure to fit a specific mold, and overwhelming clutter from overconsumption held me back from creating freely. Playing isn’t as normalized as it was when we were kids, but it’s so important to foster your own space for play, fun, and the messy world of mistakes that come with creating and crafting. Whether you’re unsure of who you are, what you want to be, or what to create—or if you feel like you’re wasting time on your dream projects—remember it’s a process. As you explore different ways of making art to inspire yourself, you’ll find joy in keeping it unique to you. It’s been an exhausting journey filled with comparison and the pressure to fit into a specific identity. Consuming too much left me feeling overwhelmed and cluttered, but stepping back helped me realize the value of making things that truly feel like my own—because when they’re made by you, they are truly yours. It becomes a great way to express yourself and stay motivated to figure out what you enjoy, to the point where you no longer feel the need to compare yourself to others.
