Pilecki's work had been hidden from the world until recently, when records about his mission were finally made public in the early 2000s. Pilecki was the man who infiltrated Auschwitz, formed a secret underground resistance within its walls, and escaped the camp. His story is one of brutality, humility, and the capacity of humanity for both good and evil.     Ep. 17: Going Nuclear - Americas First Nuclear Accident

    Elizabeth shares the riveting story of Americas first nuclear accident. Located near the small town of Idaho Falls, Idaho the National Reactor Testing Station was the newest development in energy at the time. The men working at the various reactors were pioneering the field. Unfortunately, the powerful neutrons within the reactor proved to be more impactful than the men wielding it. On January 3, 1961 the SL-1 reactor explodes leaving its three crew men dead inside. Rescue workers are posed with the life threatening task to retrieve their bodies. Facing levels of radiation double to triple what their meters were initially reading. Not only did they study and live near the small area within the rainforest but Juliane Koepcke survived in it.     Elizabeth transports us to the depths of the Colombian Jungle where Keith Stansell, Marc Gonsalves, and Tom Howes crash during a surveillance mission looking for illegal cocaine operations.
