Brief Histories

The Andaman Islands are home to the world's most isolated tribes. These include the Jarawa, the Onge, the Great Andamanese and the Sentinelese. North Sentinel island, "the most dangerous island in the world" is home to the Sentinelese. They are an "uncontacted" stone age tribe that vigorously rejects any contact with the rest of the world. In 2018 they were in the news for killing John Allen Chau - an American missionary, when he set foot on their home at North Sentinel Island. Onge & the Great Andamanese are looked after by the government of India after there numbers were greatly reduced due to their low immunity to new disease. The Jarawa are the most numerous and still live freely in their reservation.
