Bright Leaders The Leader Within: Season 16: St Michael's Catholic Primary School, Widnes

Episode 6 In our last session together, we speak to Holly, Zachary and Oliver. We reflect on the work we have covered in our last session and share our thoughts on completing the Learner to Leader programme. The children share how they have enjoyed learning about leadership and how working with people who they do not usually work with, can be a good thing. We talk about the ‘Pipe Challenge’, how to deal with frustration and explore how working slower, using our skills of patience, can actually speed things up.

In this episode, we speak to Ava, Olivia and Isabelle A. We talk about the work we’ve been doing today based on our ‘leader heroes’ and leadership qualities and discuss our experience with Rock Kidz. We even get two surprise guests on our podcast!!! We talk about the brain and link this to the comfort zone, stretch and panic zone.

In this episode, we speak to Theo, Isabelle and Lola!We explore the skills we’ve been developing in our session today through the Stick Tower activity and how many of these skills link to the St Michael’s Value Tree. We discuss the skills of resilience, patience, teamwork and friendship, and discuss leaders in our life who we look up to.

Today, we speak to 3 AMAZING little leaders….. Harleigh, Bella and Pheobe!We explore trust a little further following our discussions from our last session and talk about how friendships and positive behaviour can develop trust. We talk about responsibility and how we can be responsible for our own actions. The girls also share their ‘power sentences’ and how we can used these to develop courage, confidence and inspiration for ourselves.

We’re back on the St Michael’s learning bus and we speak to the brilliant Julian, Luke and Lilly.We touch on the work we did today in develop our teamwork and we explored our similarities, differences and what we understand by the term equality. Trust became a theme throughout the day and we explore ways in which we can build trust to develop relationships. We even talk about polish sausages and pickles!!

We speak to Alfie, Sophie- Lilly and Mille from St Peter’s to hear about the start of our Farnworth Combined project. We discuss how our first session went and what we did to make the other schools feels welcome. We explore how we often feel when doing new things and share how feelings of anxiety can leave us once we get stared. We discuss how we came up with the name Farnworth Combined and discuss some key terminology and skills required for great leadership.
