Mari opens up about leaving the most difficult times (harsh storm) of her life behind, moving to another country and leaving the family and difficulties behind. Mari has established her life in different country, finding new friends who to this day are her family, she then moved to UK. She is such a positive cheerful woman who is always there to help others. She has helped me to get over the first hurdle of getting the carriage to ask for help and seek a professional counselling after her own experiences and healing journey. Season 1 Episode 11 (Childhood Trauma/Relationships) with Jose
Originally from Spain, Jose lived quite protected, happy life until he has started experiencing episodes of extreme anxiety and his collapse at the age of 14 which has been diagnosed as one of episode of epilepsy. He then went through abusive relationship, and it was only when he met his now wife, that he has got the confidence to face up to the world, move to London and take on highly skilled jobs. Harison one the most inspirational young men I have ever met. At his young age he has achieved his dreams, and he is podcaster himself trying to help men who struggle with their identity, relationships and other issues of manhood. He has created podcast called The Growth Voyage where he is creating a safe space for men to share their stories, find others with similar life experiences and most importantly helps to guide change from “the nice guys” to “good Men”. Story of a survival of a mother of 3 children, who ended up as a single parent after having her first 2 children at a very young age when both of her and her partner were not ready for the parenthood. She then found another partner whom she thought is the “ONE” for her, but she discovered that he was cheating on her while she was pregnant with their child. She went through depression, anxiety and tough times as a single parent of 3. Now she has her own beaty business and is the entrepreneur helping others to cope with hard times. Season 1 Episode 7 (Childhood Trauma) with Pedro
Pedro’s childhood was difficult with witnessing domestic violence from the early age. His parents originally from Portugal found living in UK challenging, having marital issues, on top of that father was drinking a lot and was then abusive to the women in the family. Pedro and his siblings have witnesses numerous incidents of their parents arguing and father being physically abusive. This caused a lot of damage, stress and destruction to the whole family. Another powerful story of a first-born daughter who again had to look after her younger narcissistic brother, growing up in a strict traditional family in India. She always believed that she did not belong to the society that kept putting women down, expecting women to obey, be sub- servant to men, she felt anxious, depressed and unworthy living in her own town. She left to study university in USA and felt victim to a narcissistic boyfriend which spiralled her anxiety and depression. She talks about generational trauma and how it was affecting her in her younger years until she had realised that she needs to break the chain and change herself first. This is a powerful story of a strong Irish lady who grew up in Ireland as one of 15 children, she was the eldest girl, with responsibility to look after her siblings from the age of 6. She rarely went to school as she had numerous duties around the house and the garden. She was punished hard by both schoolteachers and her parents for making the smallest of mistakes. She was sent to England to earn money for the family at the age of 15. She talks about the hard life, which made her stronger, about appreciating the little things in life and most importantly the her ability to stay positive. Growing in Ireland as the only child of famous snooker player and athlete mum, living quiet childhood surrounded by extended family to broken home when his mum had to leave him behind to escape marriage full of adultery. Tom was left in the care of the father without mum in his life. He went through depression, rebellion, skipping school to committing crime. At the age of 18,Tom relocated to the UK to live with his mum where his story continued with a prison sentence for cheating the benefits system, his experiences with an unfair UK judicial system, rough time in prison to moving onto his adulthood life. A story of childhood trauma and 4th daughter of Indian father who desired a son, she trying to please him her whole childhood to be similar to the son he always wanted but she never felt to be good enough. She was then exposed to a family friend (uncle) who raped her and got her pregnant as a teenager, followed by abortion and never being able to tell anyone what was happening.
