From Page to Place, Screen to Street: Why We Travel to Story Locations [VIDEO]

Why are we drawn to real-life movie and book locations? In this episode, we unpack the magnetic pull of film sets, book settings, and the landscapes our favorite characters once walked—even if only in fiction. From misty moors to neon-lit city corners, there's something deeply human about wanting to step into the world we've imagined.I also share my experience taking a storytelling-based color assessment (yes, that’s a thing) and how it revealed deeper layers of the stories I gravitate toward—and the places I’m pulled to visit because of them. It's a reflection on how narrative shapes our travels, our memory, and maybe even our identity. From Velaris and the Night Court in ACOTAR (think Zermatt, Switzerland’s snowy peaks and charming villages) to the battlefields of Fourth Wing, and the castles and rugged landscapes of Scotland that remind us of Terrasen from Throne of Glass. These places, once confined to the pages of our favorite books, can come alive when we travel to them.If you’ve ever traveled to places that feel like they came straight out of a movie set or BookTok or dream of walking through scenes that once felt fictional, this episode is for you.Read Your Color Quiz🎧 Related Episodes: 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Magic in the Air: A Scottish Summer in the Highlands 🇳🇴 Getting Hygge with It: Norway's Fjords and Views📍 WHERE TO FIND US:📸 Instagram: @busygallivantingpodcast📺 YouTube: Busy Gallivanting Podcast📩 Email: [email protected]🌍 Website: busygallivantingpodcast.com

Keeping it Real, Madrid | Madrid, Toledo, Segovia Food Tour [VIDEO]

A foodie's perspective as we travel through Madrid! This is part one of our Spain story where we focus on the Spanish capital and our day trips to nearby Toledo and Segovia. We spent about 4 days altogether in Madrid and found that was enough time to see the "major sights" while also stumbling upon some unexpected enjoyment. Churros, tapas, and wine were of course some highlights for us but we also appreciated the art scene. Personally, I love the Madrid metro and you'll hear a lot about it in the episode. And we bookend our time on the island in the vibrant city of Lisbon. Kate went on a mission to find the best Pasteis de Nata and we saw some interesting (read: nude) performance art during dinner. Magic in the Air: A Scottish Summer in the Highlands (Isles of Mull, Iona, and Staffa) [VIDEO]

Travel with us as we venture to Scotland in the Summer. The sun is out late, the temperature is warm (for Scotland), and the grass is so so green. In this return to Scotland, I venture with Keely, my friend who is also a post-grad candidate for Public History and Cultural Heritage. We book another tour with Rabbie's to venture into the West Highlands, with our base of operations in Tobermory on the Isle of Mull. From driving through Glencoe, swimming in Caribbean-blue waters on the Isle of Iona, and watching puffins fly on the Isle of Staffa, we got a wonderfully raw experience with the magic of mother nature. But of course... shenanigans ensue including losing the keys to our van on a ferry and said van breaking down 4 hours from Edinburgh leaving us stranded... there is no shortage of hijinks during this trip, that's for sure! We talk about the differences in traveling as I went to Rome in the peak of high season in summer and Christine went in the fall and how that really can make all the difference. In this episode, I'll talk about my summer experience in Italy starting with visiting Pisa and then going to Firenze aka Florence. From there, that ends my time in Italy, but Christine brings us along to her magical trip to Lake Como and Milan. For all you Star Wars fans out there, welcome to Naboo. Attenzione! Florence Awaits: The Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Duomo, Gelato, and Pickpockets [VIDEO]

Let's travel to Florence— I'll provide a little bit of historical background to the birthplace of the Renaissance and then we'll dive into the treasures of this Tuscan capital. In this episode, I'll talk about my summer experience in Italy starting with visiting Pisa and then going to Firenze aka Florence. Florence is an art history/architectural nerd's dream. From the beautiful Piazzas (Piazza del Duomo, Piazza del Santa Croce), mega cathedrals with unimaginable scale and so much art. From the Uffizi to the Piazza della Signoria, Florence is truly an open air museum. Shop along the gold and jewelry shops of the medieval Ponte Vecchio bridge overlooking the Arno. Just be on the look out for pickpockets. Treat yourself to quality Florentine leather goods at the Scuolo del Cuoio or Galleria Michaelangelo. And most imporantly, eat gelato. How do I decide my next trip? How do I travel safely as a woman? How do I approach packing for each trip? Am I spontaneous or overplanned when I travel? How do I handle being alone during solo travel? I also quickly touch upon my recent experience with sound baths and healing with https://www.instagram.com/buddhahawkhealing. Renaissance Soul: Akashic Records to Enlighten your Path

Welcome to Season 2 of Busy Gallivanting! In this episode, we're kicking off with what started Busy Gallivanting— an Akashic Records Reading. The Akashic Records contain everything that every soul has ever thought, said, and done over the course of its existence—as well as all its future possibilities. This valuable information can help you with any aspect of your life journey. I detail how my latest Akashic Records reading went, how it guided me through a "stuck period", my spirit guides literally told me to get off my phone, and how learning about my past lives resulted in reigniting my passion for Busy Gallivanting and how these realizations have resulted in a Renaissance of my soul, not to be dramatic. Specifically, I talk about my past life as a Renaissance nepo baby in Florence and what it was like to go to Florence over the summer and walk where I may have walked centuries ago. We'll also talk about the recent effects of mercury retrograde, this full moon, and what it's like having a non-supportive parent. This season premiere is a multicourse meal, to say the least. But it's not just fun and games. As the daughter of Mexican-American immigrants with big dreams, she talks us through her journey through young adulthood to now. From saving turtles in Cuba to starting a small business, and navigating corporate America, she teaches us that the best thing to do is to bet on yourself. Yeah... she did it herself. ------------------------------------------------------ We're kicking off Busy Gal Summer Sessions: a casual, not über-travel focused series focused mainly on women who chase their hobbies and passions. Very Demure, Very Mindful: My Career Journey into Beauty [VIDEO]

**GIVEAWAY DETAILS AT THE END OF THE EPISODE** In the words of viral TikTok sensation @joolieannie, we're being very demure, very cutesy in today's episode. It's a solo Summer Session and Part 1 of 3 as I dive into some of my passions outside of traveling. We begin with my entry into the world of beauty and how I accidentally manifested my 10-year career in this industry. No, really. I briefly discuss the expectations of success as a child of immigrants, how I tried to juggle meeting those expectations with my interests, and how the 2010s beauty guru explosion got me here. From my chemistry background to my neurotic tendencies and how both inform how I approach beauty and beauty consumption as an expert and audience member. Again, very demure. I end the episode with a sneak peek of my belated birthday giveaway, which will be hosted on the @busygallivantingpodcast Instagram the day after this episode goes live. ------------------------------------------------------ We're kicking off Busy Gal Summer Sessions: a casual, not über-travel focused series focused mainly on women who chase their hobbies and passions. From what started out as a fun bachelorette activity but has now become a regular practice, we discuss and debunk any preconceived notion of pole dancing and how it's an inclusive form of expression, art, and strength. ------------------------------------------------------ We're kicking off Busy Gal Summer Sessions: a casual, not über-travel focused series focused mainly on women who chase their hobbies and passions. Books are for Lover Girls: Reading, Romanticizing Your Life, and Seeking Authenticity [VIDEO]

In an age where BookTok is throwing fairy romance, beach flings, and mafia bosses at you, @MelsLiteraryDisco is here to tell you there's so much more! We chat with Melissa, the creator behind @MelsLiteraryDisco, "Studio 54 but for books". A space where books of all kinds can come together and just jam. It's a thoughtful conversation where we discuss her entry into reading after not being one in childhood/teenager-hood like so many adult readers are, how her Scorpio moon likely has a role to play in the books she likes, and the pipeline between book lovers and lover girls. It's an openness to be soft, vulnerable, and authentic. Simply Divine: Finding Balance between your Divine Feminine and Masculine Energies [VIDEO]

Busy Gallivanting Season 1 Finale. Part 2 of 2. **Trigger Warning** This episode briefly discusses suicide and suicidal ideation, and some people might find it disturbing. If you or someone you know is suicidal, please, contact your physician, go to your local ER, or call the suicide prevention hotline in your country. For the United States, the numbers are as follows: The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-TALK (8255), or message the Crisis Text Line at 741741. Both programs provide free, confidential support 24/7. Here's the sequel to last week's episode on being an angry girl. The vulnerability keeps on showing. And that's such a good thing. In a world where we're often taught to be on and perfect all the time, I'm unpacking what's taken years for me to learn. We talk about Eldest Daughter Syndrome, growing up as a daughter of immigrants, and how it's impacted me in adulthood. Through the trauma and triggers, I describe how travel has been a healing journey for me because it's simply allowed me to be without expectation or failure and how this simple joy may have just saved my life. Angry but Healing | Unpacking Wounded Feminine and Eldest Daughter Trauma [VIDEO]

Part 1 of the Busy Gallivanting Season Finale. This episode is the most vulnerable you'll see me thus far. And that's such a good thing. In a world where we're often taught to be on and perfect all the time, I'm unpacking what's taken years for me to learn. How being so on top of it all can just as easily lead to a downfall. Through a lot of self-reflection, learning, listening, and therapy, I'm taking you with me on my discovery that I am an angry girl and how that's ok. We talk about the spiritual and psychological side of anger, the divine feminine, and how to identify triggers and learn how to demystify them and ultimately, get to know yourself a little more. I'll share personal breakthroughs about my anger triggers, hyperindependence as a trauma response to being parentified at a young age, and the lessons that have come along the way. This episode is an expression of me trying to heal my Divine Feminine and reflect, express, and finally be kind not just to others but to myself and little me.
