7 Ways To Stop Your Kids From Talking Back

Kids talking back to their parents is one of the most common problem behaviors - and also one of the most tricky to handle. “Backtalk” is actually a broad term that refers to a whole host of disrespectful responses from children. Depending on the age of the child, it can range from just a defiant “NO,” to eye rolling, to a full-blown shouting match. It’s extremely frustrating and disheartening to have a child who challenges or sasses you over every request, but with the right tools you can diffuse it quickly & effectively! In this episode, I share 7 things you can do to stop your kids from talking back. Would you like helpful and cool merch? 6 Lies Christian Moms Believe

So often there is a disconnect between the mom I am, and the mom I want to be. Or make that the mom I think I ought to be.As moms, we usually know somewhere in our heads that we are what’s best for our children. That God gave them to us– not the lady next door, or the woman in church who seems to have it all together. But getting our hearts to believe that can be another story. So, I’d like to debunk a few discouraging myths that just aren’t true (though they feel that way). 5 Tips For Raising Kids Who Obey

As a mom, it’s my job to confront the problem of disobedience head on. I’ll be honest, though; this problem seems awfully inconvenient at times. All too often, I fall into the trap of being defensive instead of offensive when one of my kids misbehaves. I sacrifice the long-term goal of their behavior improving for good, for that short-term gain of momentary peace. If I’m constantly reacting to my child’s disrespect with disapproval, and correcting the problems when they arise, it’s not solving the heart issue at hand. I really shouldn’t react to their bad behavior as if I’m surprised by it. And I shouldn’t always get so offended by it, either, thinking that I’m a failure as a mother when they talk back or mistreat a sibling. 9 Encouraging Truths About Motherhood That Will Set You Free

Mothering is the best thing I’ve ever done. But I’ll be honest: it’s also the hardest. There are enough myths floating around out there about Christian motherhood to trip you up, and keep you feeling guilty for days. Then there’s your own voice of condemnation playing on repeat inside your head. Making you feel like you won’t ever measure up.Half the battle of motherhood is fought in the heart of a mother. If the enemy can capture your heart and fill it full of lies about your identity and purpose, he’s won the battle. The truth is, there’s no playbook for parenting; only the Bible. There’s no formula for mothering well; only relying daily on Jesus. When we really understand what God says about our role as mothers, the pressure to attain some invisible goal line fades away. Here are 9 encouraging and biblical truths for moms that will truly set you free! #encouragement #momencouragement #christianmom #christianmoms Would you like helpful and cool merch? 6 Common Parenting Mistakes You Should Avoid

I’ve heard it said, “Parenting is like folding a fitted sheet. No one knows how.” It can certainly seem that way these days while we’re trying to raise well-behaved, respectful, obedient and godly children. We know where we want to end up, but we don’t exactly know how to get there. Parenting experts swear by all kinds of tips that actually seem to be making our kids worse. As parents we mean well, but sometimes we’re just stuck in a pattern that we can’t easily recognize. I’ve messed up on my own parenting adventure and made mistakes I wasn’t even aware of for a long time. I still continue to miss the mark (that’s where God’s grace comes in), but over the last decade I’ve realized there were several things I was doing that were contributing to my children’s negative behavior. My desire is to help you avoid making the same mistakes. Your family life doesn’t have to continue in strife, arguments and strained relationships! 7 Tools to Build Strong Relationships with Your Kids

Someone wisely said once, “Children don’t rebel against rules; they rebel against a lack of relationship.” Strong parent/child relationships are not only critical for your kids’ spiritual formation, but also their success in life. Relationship is more than just living together as a family; it’s a heart response. It implies a deeper connection that communicates, “I know you and I enjoy being around you.” Building relationship is foundational for passing the faith on to your kids. It’s the channel through which spiritual training becomes effective. If we’re going to impress God’s commands on our children’s hearts as we “sit in our house and walk by the way and when we lie down and when we rise up”, relationship simply isn’t optional. But strong relationships with your kids don’t just happen. Building and maintaining close bonds takes work, and it can become more difficult to connect with your children the older they get. #relationships #familyrelationships #relationshipswithyourkids Would you like helpful and cool merch? 8 Creative Consequences for Different Types of Behavior | Raising Kids

We all know that, in parenting, boundaries mean nothing without consequences. I can’t tell my child not to do something if I’m not ready and willing to hold him responsible for his behavior. Rules really aren’t enforceable without some kind of accountability. And consequences bring both security and predictability to children. But sometimes, we just can’t think of any consequences that would be effective in a certain situation. Do we keep sending our kids to their rooms for a time-out? Do we take away every toy and activity until there’s nothing left?
