New Study: Video Games and Positive Mood Changes
Researchers at the Oxford Internet Institute conducted a study that investigated the short-term effects of playing video games on mood. They analyzed data from 8,695 players of the game PowerWash Simulator and found that, on average, players reported a more positive mood during gameplay compared to their mood at the start of each session. This positive mood change was particularly evident after the first 15 minutes of gameplay and was statistically significant. The researchers suggest that video games, particularly PowerWash Simulator, may act as a recovery activity that helps to manage daily stress and mood fluctuations.
