025 | Ashy Anne - Parenting Is Political (Whether You Like It or Not)
In this episode of Can We Fkn Talk?, I sit down with the incredible Ashy Anne to dive into the very real, often overlooked truth: parenting is political. From housing affordability and childcare accessibility to tax systems, superannuation, and even the groceries in our trolley - politics shapes every aspect of our lives as parents. Now before you roll your eyes or switch off, hear me out. Politics isn’t just something that happens in Parliament or on the news. It’s in the cost of daycare. It’s in your maternity leave. It’s in your grocery bill, the roads you drive on, the schools your kids go to, and the support you do or don’t get as a parent. We talk about why being a parent means you're already impacted by political decisions - so you might as well get informed and involved. From housing to healthcare, from Centrelink payments to why the hell early childhood educators are still so undervalued - we go there. This isn’t a lecture. It's a real, honest, slightly fired-up convo between two Mums who care. If you’re feeling too overwhelmed, too under-resourced, or too disillusioned to even think about politics right now - I see you. That’s exactly why this episode matters. And if you want to make an informed choice this election but don’t know where to start, I’ve got you:🗳 Resources to support your vote:ABC Vote Compass: https://www.abc.net.au/news/vote-compass/Build a Ballot: https://www.buildaballot.org.au/Let’s stop saying “I don’t do politics” when politics is absolutely doing us.Send me a message - I'd love to chat!Want to keep the conversation going? 003 | My postpartum mental health stole my joyful Motherhood experience
In this episode, I open up about my personal postpartum mental health journey. From struggling to get pregnant, to a surprise (but very welcomed) pregnancy, a birth plan turned upside down, and the anxiety-ridden months that followed—this is my raw and real story of becoming a Mum. I share the highs and lows, including a complicated birth experience, a challenging postpartum period, and how I eventually sought help to move from surviving to thriving. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed, anxious, or disconnected in your motherhood journey, this episode is for you. Send me a message - I'd love to chat!Want to keep the conversation going? 002 | Gentle Parenting: You’re probably doing it wrong
In this episode, I’m diving deep into the world of gentle parenting and why so many parents are unknowingly practicing permissive parenting instead. Social media has blurred the lines, making it hard to understand the difference between setting healthy boundaries and letting your child take the reins. I’m also excited to introduce my BEAR Framework, a powerful tool I’ve developed to help parents navigate the messy middle of responsive parenting. This framework blends mindset work, energetics, and action, creating lasting change in how you parent and approach your own growth. Finally, we’ll talk about why I believe children are far more capable than we often give them credit for and why they deserve the same empathy and respect as adults.
