Conversations w/Woo: Victoria Swift LCPC/Psychotherapist talks about hip hop and it's relationship with Mental Health and Spirituality.

In this episode of Conversations w/ Woo, we sit down with Victoria Swift, LCPC, licensed psychotherapist and owner of Swift Therapy, for a powerful conversation at the intersection of mental health, faith, and hip-hop culture.Victoria opens up about her own journey into therapy, how personal trauma and church hurt shaped her perspective, and why narrative therapy has become a transformative tool in her work. Together, we explore why so many Black men feel safer expressing vulnerability through music rather than traditional therapy, and how hip-hop often mirrors the same healing principles found in therapeutic spaces. We also unpack the long-standing tension between faith and mental health, challenging the idea that prayer and therapy can’t coexist. Victoria explains how spirituality, when approached responsibly, can support healing without replacing professional care, and why redefining masculinity is essential for emotional growth in Black communities. This episode dives deep into:How hip-hop functions as emotional processing and storytellingWhy vulnerability is often stigmatized for Black menThe connection between narrative therapy and lyrical expressionFaith, identity, and healing without judgmentWhat healthy growth looks like when creativity, therapy, and spirituality alignIf you’ve ever wrestled with faith, mental health, or finding safe spaces to be honest about your struggles, this conversation is for you.🎧 Tap in, reflect, and join the conversation.

    "Eye's Are Watching"

Hey everyone! Welcome back to Conversations with/Woo! In this episode, we're diving deep into how parents can tackle imposter syndrome while also nurturing their kids' dreams. Remember how I talked about taking action even when those imposter feelings creep in? Well, my wife and I faced this head-on with our 14-year-old daughter. She's about to start high school (cue the nervous parent noises!), and like many teens, she's figuring out who she is and what she wants to do. We have noticed that she struggles with self-doubt and comparing herself to others, so we challenged her to set some goals and make action plans. It's so important for kids to realize that dreams don't just magically happen – they take work! We also talk about how crucial it is for us as parents to be role models. Our kids need to see us chasing our own dreams and overcoming obstacles. It's all about creating a supportive space for the whole family to grow and thrive! I hope this episode inspires you to take action on your dreams and encourages you to nurture the same in your child. "Checking In"

Hey everyone! It's your boy Woo, and today, I'm coming to you by simply checking in! I know that feeling of inadequacy can be real, and it's something we all struggle with at times. But I've learned that there are ways to cope and move forward, and I want to share two tools that have helped me. The first tool comes from my amazing wife, who's an author. She encourages me to write down my thoughts and ideas, and it's amazing how much clarity it brings. Sometimes, we get stuck in our heads, comparing ourselves to others or feeling like we're not doing enough. But when we put our thoughts on paper, we can see them more objectively and start to find solutions. The second tool comes from my therapist, who recommended an app that helps me track my emotions and practice mindfulness. One of the guided meditations in the app encourages me to get up and take action, even if it's just a short walk. It's amazing how much a little movement can do for my mental state. These two simple tools, writing and walking, have helped me to overcome the negative effects of imposter syndrome. They've allowed me to formulate ideas and plans, and most importantly, they've helped me to get out there and create content that I'm proud of. So, if you're struggling with imposter syndrome, I encourage you to try these tools or find others that work for you. Remember, you're not alone, and there's always hope for a brighter future. In the meantime, I hope you're all doing well and taking small steps towards your goals. I'll be back soon with more updates on my podcast and other projects. Thanks for watching!

    "Never Forget/Unleash Your Gifts"

In the words of Matthew 23:14-30, we are reminded that our talents are meant to shine, not to be hidden away. 🌟 "For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted to them his property. To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability." (Matthew 25:14-15) Each of us is gifted with unique abilities, skills, and potential. It's our responsibility to recognize and nurture these talents, no matter how big or small, and to use them to make a positive impact on the world. 🌍 "When he who had received the five talents went at once and traded with them, and he who had received the two talents went and traded with them." (Matthew 25:16-17) Don't let fear or self-doubt hold you back from sharing your talents with the world. Just like the servants who invested and multiplied their talents, your abilities have the power to grow and benefit others. "His master said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.'" (Matthew 25:21) Embrace your talents, take bold steps, and let your light shine. When you do, not only will you find personal fulfillment, but you'll also make a difference that ripples through the lives of those you touch. Let's stop hiding our talents and start using them to create a brighter, more prosperous future for ourselves and those around us. 🚀💡 #UnlockYourTalents #Lunchboxdreams #MakeAnImpact #embraceyourpotential
