Episode 26 [2021] # Libanon – Talk with Lebanese Australian filmmaker and journalist Daizy Gedeon
It happened one day in July 2021, when I received from several Lebanese friends at the same time the trailer of the documentary “Enough! Lebanon’s Darkest Hour“.I was excited and wanted to find out who was behind this project. That same evening, in the hotel bar, I met a young man, Ronny Mouawad, who was co-producing the film with Daizy Gedeon. Coincidence? So it happened that a few weeks later I had the chance to talk to Daizy Gedeon about her ambitions for the film. With Daizy Gedeon, I got to know a full-blooded activist who is passionate about the things she cares about. This is such a wonderful skill that made me light up even talking to Daizy Gedeon. It is because of people like Daizy Gedeon that I feel humanity is carried on in this world.Talking to Daizy Gedeon was one of my personal interview highlights this year and I am very grateful that she took the time to talk to us despite her busy schedule. In 2021, Daizy Gedeon was presented with the Movie That Matters Award at a Better World Fund (BWF) gala event in Cannes for her documentary “Enough! Lebanon’s Darkest Hour“.

Episode 25 [2021] # Late night talk with internationally acclaimed photographer Roger Moukarzel
“Because I was born into a family of journalists, I used to hang out with journalists at the newspaper office. When the war erupted in Lebanon, I used to take my brother’s camera – at a very early stage – and shoot some black and white images in the village.”„I was aware that what we used to do as war photographers was not translated accurately. A big part of the news was fake news because, at some level, they would translate whatever photos I had taken in a different way. I was putting my life in danger to show the reality and that was not what they were after, so I decided to quit. I didn’t know that I would become a fashion photographer in Paris. I continued down that road because I felt that I could express myself in a different way.“It happened one evening in Beirut when I met Roger for the first time in a hotel bar. A mutual friend had introduced us and said that meeting him would be an enrichment. And so it was. Spontaneously, Roger agreed to record our conversation. Lucky me: I got to know Roger as a humble, intellectual and intelligent person. I was impressed.Born in Beirut in 1962. Roger Moukarzel’s passion started with war photography at the age of a teenager in a conflicted country and region. He worked in this field of photography for the next 15 years and got engagements for Sygma and Reuters. Roger’s photo-documentaries were published around the world and in many international publications. French magazine Paris Match has also chosen one of his pictures – a scene of destruction and mayhem in a Beirut street – to be featured on the cover page of its 40th anniversary book.As time moved on Roger began to question his choice, ultimately leading him away from war coverage into fashion and art photography instead.Thank you for joining us for today’s episode of “The Human Project”! Emma and her partner has shared a happy relationship, growing together as a couple and as individuals.Being in an interracial relationship has been challenging especially with racism existing in the society and with racist remarks that disguised as words of concern. Episode 14 [2021] # How to kick men’s ass: Muay Thai, femininity & surfing – Liv Schönbächler, Switzerland
„I am for sure stronger than some guys and can defeat some men despite I am a girl!“„Girls can be stronger than men and take them to the floor. We so often get underestimated!“It was during a Muay Thai class where Liv caught my attention with her physical power and strength. I was impressed by how strong she kicked and boxed – all coming from a young, feminine body!Tattoos on her body speaks a lot about her personality: “Think less, live more” and “Go with the flow”. Liv radiates confidence, strength, a sense of ease, and living life to the fullest well beyond her age.Doing sports is Liv’s way to feel empowered and energized throughout the day. This inspiration comes from her parents, who pursue their passions in sports. Liv’s dad was competing in the 1994 Olympics, while her mom is a gymnast and a dancer.Raised in an active family, her parents taught her to go over her physical limits, to be strong, independent, and open to try new things. Being brought up in a chill and supportive environment in Switzerland that let her do what she wanted has made Liv grateful, as it allowed her to be secure and confident in herself and the path she chooses. In this episode, Liv talks about feminine power: where it comes from and what it means for her. Liv knows that she is stronger than some men, and she has mastered defense techniques that could take down even stronger men.Being physically powerful affects your presence and the way you carry yourself in day-to-day life. It puts you in the mindset of being secure as a woman, ready on your feet, capable and in control instead of seeing yourself through a victim lens.In our conversation with Liv, you might learn:How to develop strength in yourself, both physically and mentallyThe beauty of feminine powerThe importance of freedom and support from one’s family in order to build your own character instead of adopting the pattern of your parents or other family membersImportance of an open mindsetJoy of traveling and living abroadTo go with the flow and embrace everything that life offers, including uncertaintiesTo be yourself and put yourself first as only then you are in the position to give to othersThank you for being with us! Ima Articha is a young amazing woman who was born on Sumba – an island that is less than two hours flight away from Bali in Indonesia. Her family are rice farmers since generations and Ima took her life bravely into her own hands to become a successful and financially independent woman. It took a lot of courage to go that path. Ima is now living on Bali, living the life she always wanted to have.–As in other regions of the world too (e.g. on Lombok), young women – very often still minors – are kidnapped for forced marriages on Sumba. It became something society accepted.–At the age of just 16 years, Ima decided for herself to not let this and the consequence of becoming a housewife to a man she has not chosen happen to her.–A fight with her dad, key figure of the family, has started. Her dad refused to speak to her when she expressed her wish to receive education in hospitality business. Ima did not give up her dream at that moment. Instead, she fought for it and finally managed to enter as one out of just 50 young professionals the Sumba Hospitality school.–With the help of this non-profit institution, Ima learned not only English but also everything else that helped her to move to Bali and find a proper job.–A large part of the salary that Ima is earning on Bali is being sent back to her family on Sumba. Another part Ima is saving for higher educational training as she wants to continue living her dreams.–I loved talking to Ima and learned from her willpower, determination and joy.Today, we speak about the following subjects:Women rights in developing countries and the fight for being empoweredThe beauty of the island of Sumba (Indonesia) and its big challenges – Sumba is one of the poorest regions in the worldHow to get wings to fly away from your home town to become the person you want to beClash of different cultures and tension between a traditional lifestyle – rice farmers in a very rural area – versus the modern world and how to successfully manage themHow social media can be a door opener to see how other parts of the world do look like and to what extend this perspective is changing desiresFear of parents that the children go „out into the big world“ and might loose their rootsTraditional roles as becoming a wife as a minor and how to break freeThe threat of forced marriage, being kidnapped from your homeBalinease lifestyle and „Bule“ – the local Indonesian word for foreigners and/or non-Indonesian national, especially people of European descentImportance of sustainable tourism development on SumbaStereotype of a „good“ and a „bad“ woman/ first category is the one that usually gets married, the second one is the wild oneDressing up sexually/ Sexual abuse of womenHow to realize your dreams and visions/ financial independencyThank you so much for listening to today’s episode of “The Human Project”! Right now, they are all living close to the Indonesian ocean, where they can watch the sunsets, with monkeys climbing up the trees and their surfboards next by. Episode 8 [2021] # About women consumption, Louis Vuitton’s & entrepreneurship – with Aren Singh Bahia
Podcast: Ubud, Bali – About the consumption of women, shiny Louis Vuitton’s, a high end criminal life in Vancouver and a finally soul rich life as an impact entrepreneur in Bali – with Aren Singh Bahia–“Give. Connect. Inspire.“–This quote from Aren aka @ink_pray_love reflects his todays personality. Aren has founded the Karma House Bali, Conscious Arts Tattoos, Full Reset Coaching, and is one of the co-founders of YogiLab.–But Aren has started at a different point in his life: He was born part of the middle-class, his father being a TV cable installer and his mom working as a community librarian. When he was younger he dreamt about becoming rich. He wanted to possess fancy cars, beautiful women and shiny brands. One way to reach this target was for him to become a key figure in organizational crime in Vancouver, Canada – the city he grew up. He was recruited in a drug-dealing gang and was consuming money and women as he was addicted to drugs, power, and sex.–“All the people around me, there was a lot of violence, a lot of drug overdoses, just, there’s a lot of that happening. And so I was in desperation — I needed to make a shift and change my life.”–The material things brought Aran so much pride and validation that he believed for a while they could buy him happiness too. But at the end they were just a way to mask his emotions. Aren realized that he was unable to form connections with people on a deeper level. More so, Aren feared that he would end up dead or in jail if he stays in the same toxic environment.–“Shiny things get old pretty fast and it’s not going to feel good after a while. But if you have something that is bigger than you that connects and helps people, it’s actually gonna make a bigger impact.”–By coincidence, he came across a yoga studio in downtown Vancouver and started to practice Yoga – often while still being high on drugs at the same time. With this experience, a huge transformation and identity shift has started. Inspired by the film “Eat, Pray, Love”, Aren went to Ubud, a mountain village in Bali, to deepen his yoga and meditation experience. He learned about the concept of “Karma,” applied it to his life and realized that he finally wanted to become someone his parents could be proud of.–“It’s never too late to turn your personal story into one of success and compassion. You can start today, and make a difference in more lives than just your own. ”–In our conversation, we are speaking about the following subjects:Organizational crime in VancouverConsumption of womenSex, power and money addition and living a sex-responsible lifeDeep connection with other peopleSuperficiality of luxury and other wealthy goodsMartial arts and the power of willpowerADHD and how to expand attention spanHow movies can have an impact on your own life, in Aren’s case it was the movie, Eat Pray & LoveEntrepreneur lifestyle and serial founderThe importance about being emotionally invested in what you doVisions in life and on the worldProtection of children, in particular when it comes to children traffickingCharity projects–“Find something that you would feel passionate about doing. Episode 7 [2021] # How to consciously communicate with your food – with Evan Rilling
“Our ancestors were eating generally higher quality food. They had less options but they were eating locally.”Evan Rilling is a health-conscious chef and a food shaman. His mission is to help clients to connect more to themselves by creating a healthier relationship with the food they consume daily. He has almost 20 years of chef experience, has worked as the personal chef to actor, Will Smith, designed menus for retreat centers around the world, and worked for major health brands.“You can learn to understand your own body in order to find out the kind of food that works best for you.”We all are familiar with those moments in life, in which we don’t allow ourselves to eat healthy food without time pressure but rather with joy and pleasure. Our brain knows about proper meals. It knows “we are what we consume”, but our limiting beliefs cause us to believe differently.People have different perceptions on what’s healthy for them. But there is no general health nutrition plan that would be applicable for each of us. We all have different bodies, different ingredients within us and different ways to move. Evan’s recommendation is to recognize that our bodies are built differently and needs to be treated differently. What is healthy for you might not be healthy for another person, what food works best for you, might not work for another one. He said, you “just” have to be more knowledgable on what your body likes, digest the best and what feels the best after you have eaten. This means, do you feel tired after a dish, activated or energized? Self-responsibility is his key for a proper health.“Just because certain food is said to be good for you, doesn’t necessarily mean that it is good for you and your health system.”Listening to our conversation will help you understand:that it is your responsibility to stay healthy.the importance of consciousness when eating because your body is your temple and you are what you are consuminghow to build a relationship with ingredients and food you are having in front of youunderstanding that each of us has a different body and an individual internal health systemwhy buying local products is a great thing to dothe importance of mental health when it comes to an overall health state of livingwhy breathing before eating is a behavior you might want to make your habithow a perfect vision of the food industry might look likewhy the garden of Eden might act as a great role model for the food industryhow to inspire the next generation to truly love food, appreciating knowing local fresh products and eat with awarenessQuestions for you as you might want to reflect about today’s talk: What does “being healthy” mean to you? What new habit do you want to implement in life when it comes to your diet, your nutrition, and your eating behavior?Thank you so much for joining us on today’s episode of The Human Project! Episode 2 [2021] # How a young UK #millionaire #monk wants to empower #humanity – with David Hans-Barker
In this episode, I had the great pleasure to interview #DavidHansBarker, an eight figure #entrepreneur, #CEO, #biohacking expert and key leading #meditation teacher at his retreat centre looking over the stormy cliffs of Bali.David became a millionaire and monk before he even turned 30 years. He was raised in the #UK in a rough environment with a high #crime rate.“If you are feeling something that you don’t want to feel then it is fear!“David’s #emotional independence was his base to become financially independent. He spent time alone in the woods, meditated and tuned in to an anti-fragile state of #mind. David no longer sees risks as dangerous. One of Davids next targets in life is to empower 80 million people, that is 1% of the world population, through meditation. Meditation is a key for him to be empowered and take responsibility.“For me, not to love means that I give power away as I allow others to control my emotions“In this episode, you will learn…How to remain in silence and solitude during meditation, how to escape fear in life and how Vipassana meditation can become a game changer in your life. About the power of facing yourself. Why systems such as societies or even simple patterns of thoughts can limit the way you grow. Why everyone is the master of themselves and why governments and organizations are not to be blamed as we tend to give power away too easily. That being responsible is a beautiful concept as it provides you with the freedom to decide. That love is an action and the best way to live is to be in a constant state of love independent from any subject or object. That loving someone is not approving of someone. This sentence might need to be re-written How great it is to pick something you love, focus on it and become really good at it. Why mentorship in life is not necessary as meditation can be the teacher itself . How a productive day in the life of David looks like and why it can be beneficial to only focus on work for a certain period of your life.Thank you for joining us on todays episode of The Human Project! If you enjoy the podcast, I would like to invite you ….1.
