In each episode I will take you on a journey, from the ancient Native people to the modern-day events, from the majestic mountains to the stunning coastlines, from the historic Spanish missions to the haunted graveyards. I will also conduct interviews with other Californians about their lives, cultures, experiences, knowledge and perspectives on California’s past and present.     Episode 12: 1947 Pony Express Ride: Yreka to Sacramento

    In this episode of Digging Deeper we will be discussing the 1947 Pony Express ride from Yreka to Sacramento to promote the California State and Yreka fairs. This event took place 87 years after the original Pony Express delivered mail from St. Joseph, Missouri to Sacramento, California. Some 1,800 miles that took 10 days to ride. In this episode we will discuss how five artist changed the shape of amusement parks throught out the county and created a standard for all others to follow.     Episode 3: Oak Bottom Ambush: The Henry Saffell Story

    Oak Bottom Ambush is a tragic event that took place on January 20th 1926 in Shasta County, Ca. Henry Joseph Saffell a baggage handler for the railroad, ambushed his family just outside of thier home in Oak Bottom. The incident resulted in the death of his wife and mother-in-law.
