Barriers, Boundaries and Blockades
Send us Fan MailA lot can happen in two and a half to three weeks. I had to admit there were some punches life threw at me that took me to my knees for a minute. The death of three good friends, being what I considered a "reluctant entrepreneur", and facing my very real retirement options. It has been a very real couple of weeks, but today's devotional gave me purpose and I hope it gives you purpose too. 0:00 - Intro1:54 - The Most Downloaded Podcast, So Far3:30 - The Devotional Minute5:02 - Nothing Is Promised Anymore12:30 - I'm Still Here15:05 - The Reluctant Entrepreneur18:53 - Friends Come and Go21:22 - Retirement at 6224:18 - SubscribeSupport the show

Laugh with Preacher's Kids: The Untold Stories
Send us Fan MailPreacher's Kids: The Untold Stories is a stage play that I was happy to see, but even happier to participate in. Laughing was a requirement when acting on stage with my special guest and creator of Preacher's Kids, Alvin Daniels. You should make an appointment with your funny bone and see or hear for yourself why laughter is required for everyday life. Support the show

Man Up Monday - Do Men Have It All Together?
Send us Fan MailAs men, we hear the phrase "get it together" so often that it is engrained in the psyche of every man. The reality of having it all together is so unreachable for men, and to our own destruction we silently believe that we should have it together AT ALL TIMES. As we check on the mental landscape of men, it is okay to not have it all together, and I explain why... Support the show

Man Up Monday - Asking for Help
Send us Fan MailOne of the most troubling traits of a man is not asking for, or not knowing when to ask for help. We will keep our dire straits to ourselves, even when others can plainly see it, but pride will keep us from asking for the help that is obviously needed. Today for Man Up Monday, we do a quick dive into the mindset of a man who needs help, but has trouble asking for it. Support the show

Send us Fan MailMen, come find shelter from the rain the world pours on you. Also, let's be man enough to admit the areas we mess up in. Is Chris Rock right in his comedic assessment? Send us Fan MailI'm learning in this creative space called "my life" that I get to claim what I want to claim and declare what I consider to be junk in my space, exactly that. I Call Dibs
Send us Fan MailOne of the most "Chicago things" about living in Chicago during the winter season, is knowing the lore about "dibs" and how to approach this right of winter passage. I've also been thinking about how I should be calling "dibs" on just about every inch of mental space I clear out, so random people don't take it upon themselves to park their issues there. The Wind Chill, The Oscars, and The Gray Hair from Hell
Send us Fan MailI'm no punk because I live in Chicago, but this weekend's Polar Vortex is ready to take someone's lunch money out there and it won't be me! I have my plans set this weekend to catch up on a couple of movies since the Oscar nominations came out earlier this morning. Everything I knew about fashion, independence, humor and freedom of expression I learned from him during our years in college. Send us Fan MailI remember a time when I was considered "less than honorable" by friends and strangers alike. I remember sitting in a maximum security facility that I once helped build as well as shared the gospel in. What do you do when the inspiring becomes the inmate? Who comes to see about "the least of these"? Who's assignment was it to bring me back to a better physical and mental space? Out of all who I thought I knew, only one person did that for me. My friend of the last 30 plus years, Pastor Michael Neal of the Glorious Light Church in Chicago. It has been over 10 years since we've physically seen other, so there was no way we weren't going to reminisce and have that conversation.
