Dr. Peter Hamilton is a professor at the University of Alberta and General Internist who practiced at the University of Alberta until his retirement in 2023.   He had multiple roles for the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. For 10 years he was the Residency Training Director for Internal Medicine. Dr. Jill Konkin is a Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Alberta and has recently been appointed as the Social Accountability Lead for the Department of Family Medicine.   She has advocated for rural medicine and rural medical education for her entire career and in the course of her work at the University of Alberta, she has implemented several rural medical education programs that contributed to increasing the number of graduates that choose rural medicine careers.   Her current research interests include rural medical education, professional identity formation, interprofessional education, social accountability, and clinical courage. Dr. Anna Oswald is a clinician educator and an adult Rheumatologist at Kaye Edmonton Clinic and the University of Alberta Hospital.  She is a full Professor in the Department of Medicine at the UofA, with an academic focus in medical education.   After serving as MSK Block Coordinator for 12 years, the last four years of which she also served as Pre-Clerkship Director, she is now the director for Competency-Based Medical Education implementation for Postgraduate Medical Education at the UofA.   She also works as a clinician educator for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons doing faculty development, educational resource development, and policy & strategy advising.   Song: Red Light (Instrumental) by Sean McVerry. Dr. Tammy McNab is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at the UofA. Since joining the faculty in 2006, she has been the Endocrine Block Coordinator and Assistant Dean Academic Affairs, and she continues to teach.   She is working toward her brown belt in Karate, loves to sew her own clothes, and plays video games from time to time. Dr. Mel Lewis is a Professor of Pediatrics, a consultant pediatrician at the Stollery Children’s Hospital, and the director of the Edmonton Down Syndrome Clinic that she co-founded.   After supporting learners in the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the UofA from 2010-2021 as the Associate Dean in the Office of Advocacy & Wellbeing, she was appointed as the faculty’s first Chief Wellness Officer.   She has published on learners and faculty wellbeing and is committed to supporting a healthier learning and work culture in academic medicine. Dr. Verna Yiu is a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Alberta.   She has held numerous leadership roles at the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry since 2000, including Vice Dean and Interim Dean. Dr. Michael Driedger (he/him) completed his General Surgery residency at the University of Calgary.  He then pursued subspecialty training with a fellowship in Hepatobiliary and Pancreas (HPB) Surgery at the Mayo Clinic. Currently, he works as an academic HPB surgeon at Atrium Health - Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Charlotte, NC.  He lives in Charlotte with his wife and two children. Dr. Michael Lai completed his Family Medicine residency in Edmonton, and he went on to do his CCFP-EM training in Winnipeg. Dr. Jenna Pylypow (she/her) completed her residency in Psychiatry and fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. She sees kids and teens in her outpatient practice, through consults from the ER, and in inpatient hospital wards. She also does a clinic in Prince Albert, mostly seeing kids on clozapine. Dr. David Poon, in the last ten years, became a professional stand-up comedian, a medical consultant for TV shows and movies, a politician, and a fiancé. He is the Medical Health Officer of Northern Medical Services, working a hybrid job for the needs of Northern Saskatchewan. He is also a physician psychotherapist at a Toronto addictions clinic. Dr. Keerit Tauh (he/him) completed his Cardiac Surgery residency at the University of British Columbia. He also completed a Masters of Science with a focus in Inflammation and Atherosclerotic Diseases at UBC, then an Advanced Aortic Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Helen Chung (she/her) completed her Ophthalmology residency at the University of Calgary. Dr. Mark Dykstra completed his General Surgery residency at the UofA. He then moved to Calgary for a two-year Colorectal Surgery fellowship. During that time, he completed a Master of Public Health through the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Dr. Michael Ney completed his Internal Medicine residency at the UofA. He went on to do a Gastroenterology fellowship at the UofC, and then an advanced fellowship in Hepatology/Transplant Hepatology at King’s College Hospital in London, UK. Dr. Sahil Gupta (he/him) completed his Emergency Medicine residency in Edmonton. He lives in Toronto with his partner and works in the emergency department and as a Trauma Team Leader at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto. Dr. Rachelle Findley (she/her) completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at Dalhousie University, followed by fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Calgary.
