Disability rights are civil rights we often say in the independent living movement. I had to learn that the hard way after having a traumatic brain injury and waiting 17 years to try to find a career again after being told I would never work or function in society again. The independent living movement is a mean movement it's a you movement isn't everybody who lives with a disability I'm proud moment and you should make 2023 the Year that you decide to be more independent and Brave and Bold and that's what I'm going to talk about tonight.:-)!! Sometimes I feel so miss understood, some days I just want go outside and Scream why me, GOD!!! The independent living movement, which is known to most as the IL movement but people often hear independent living and they think of living in a nursing home which is millions of miles away from what we teach and preach! Whether you have a disability and you work in what is called a sheltered workshop making what is called a sub minimum wage usually $1 per hour or less or at the bare minimum wage. Do you know what is a sheltered workshop? I used to volunteer at a sheltered workshop and I was literally offered $0.19 an hour for a job!

We are Survives First not a disability! For far to long we have often been put last while the professional's who earn the money from us climb the cooperate ladder later of success leave people with disabilities behind in the lurch and that is wrong!  A lot of Money has been made over a very long time that little if nothing ever went to us theSurvivors. Hey Im not hear to just talk bad about disability organizations but instead I will just say if the organization you voulanteer for or work at pays sub minimum wages then I have a problem with that because it shoulddnt be allowed here in America to pay below the minimum wages to anyone just becauuse they have a disablity.  Tonights topics include:  1. Bidden Plan. Advanced Equity Across the Federal Government, Increased Access to Democracy for Voters with Disabilities, Raised Wages for Federal Contractors to $15, Provided Billions of Dollars to Children and Adults with Disabilities, Provided Guidance to Support Workers with Disabilities, Increased Access to COVID-19 Vaccinations and Affirmed the Civil Rights of Americans with Disabilities in Vaccine Distribution, $2 Billion to Support the Phase Out of Sub minimum Wages, Expansion of Inclusive, Accessible Preschool,$900 Million to Address Teacher Shortages through the Development of Special Education Teachers and... The Biden plan for full participation and equality for people with disabilities. Joe Biden believes that everyone should be treated with dignity and have a fair shot at getting ahead. The Dream Catcher-Empowerment Zone. Les Paul Morgan Tonight, I am going to change it up quite a bit. I would like to combine my regular show which is Dream Catchers with Les Paul Morgan with one of my 2 other Brain Injury Radio Network shows that is called the Empowerment Zone Radio show. Ok I Know being Civil while talking about politics is almost not an option but I believe no matter who we support we can all have our voice heard. Trump did not cause the Corona virus nor is he to blame for it but according to the media there is nothing he can do right yet I support his America first agenda and saving American jobs instead of Importing them away from the USA. Did you know that just before the pandemic hit American jobs & employment statists prove that he had the best employment records in America in over 50 years? Well he did in all categories and especially for people with disabilities. Dream Catchers - ADA 30th Anniversary and to the next 30 years Les Paul I have had a disability for 36 years now which is much longer than not having one. I began volunteering to form a disability support group back in 1999. Was it hard yes, did I feel like giving up many times yes, are we ready to stand up for freedom and justice? Well we all should The Americans with Disabilities act turned 30 years old. It was big event that was heard around the World but isn’t now the time to make it Bigger Better and Bolder? Well yes in my option the signing of the ADA by then President George W Bush Senior was able to be done because advocates all across the USA came together and took a stand for equality and the right to live Independently as possible as he signed the ADA into law. I started volunteering with 2 powerful ladies who were also my mentors and teachers who also have disabilities to form a peer support group 22 years ago the Dream Catchers Now I say time it is to feel a hunger and a yearning for the freedom of equality and start working together again and bring new life and strength. Disabled man, 46, died from corona virus after docs REFUSED to treat him ‘because he had no qua Disabled man, 46, died from coronavirus after docs REFUSED to treat him ‘because he had no quality of life’ A DISABLED man died from COVID-19 because medics at a Texas hospital wouldn't treat him, a pro-life organization claimed.  St David’s South Austin Medical Center allegedly refused to treat quadriplegic Michael Hickson, 46, because his disability meant he had "no quality of life."  Plain and simple we are better than this! We are living in very strange and unusual times for sure when people begin denying lifesaving support to people with disabilities and we should all cool off and r think our lives as a people. He is a guy who ran mid sized companies in NYC and Dallas Tx. He stated in sales than got into management that than he became more of a startup guy. He would start with a budget and expectations and than would build them from the ground up from nothing. With the finished product being a profit making company of 50 to a 100 employees. He also was into sports playing basketball,biking and tennis in a competitive way At the time in my 20s and 30s He also chased women (: I wanted to retire in my forties (:   I then relocated to Georgia for a new start up project and to be near family with the idea of getting married and settling down, All this changed when on a 20 mile warm up bike ride for the next days 75 mile ride on the Silver Comet trail as I fell off my bike head first (TBI),waking  up in a hospital weeks later After leaving the hospital I had a second TBI when having a seizure while driving,going into oncoming traffic.. The next ten years was a steady but constant effort to Identify issues and find solutions ( coping strategies ) related to my TBIs. With doctors,meds.support groups and faith in rebuilding my brain function,so as to live a full life.In addition to doing things for the TBI community as a way to give back.Now post injury I have done things that help recovery,but also give me pleasure.I have taught tennis and took up the guitar,writing,playing and singing songs, I look forward to continuing living my life fully Bill          Bill is full of life and feels that we all shoul be our best even in bad situations and since I first met him thats exactly the impression he gave me so please tne in

Its not just a new year and decade but I hope it’s a time of positive growth and change for everyone everywhere! and a new season of growth and change for Good. So tonight lets begin to think about all the new growth and possibilities that we as people with disabilities have ahead of us and yes the road has been long and hard but how we choose to accept our future will help us all be a stronger community and working together we can do great things. and yet we have a large number of people all acros the Nation and around the World in need of Disability services to:Maximize health, prevent chronic disease, improve social and environmental living conditions, and promote full community participation, choice, health equity, and quality of life among individuals with disabilities of all ages. Did you know that Individuals with disabilities represent 18.7% (about 56.7 million people) of the U.S.

Head Pain such as migraines and other related pains can just about paralyze you or make you sick so tonight I want to try to help you learn strategies for coping and sometimes even getting rid of the pain or at bare minimum help you learn coping mechanisms for helping you or others deal with the pain when possible. December 18th 2019 will mark 35 Years since I had and narrowly survived a deep cerebral hemorrhage caused by the 1st of 2 separate and very painful brain aneurisms and 7 or 8 major brain operations and procedures. Dream Catchers - To much Detail/not enough love - with Les Paul Morgan Its easy to forget the little or even very small changes we have to deal with when dealing with all the many nuances of a TBI, a Brain Aneurism, a Stroke that make things seam really big.  Heck that fits for many if not disabilities or as I like to say life’s little problems. For many people with a disability it often feels like “To much Detail not enough love” when it come to the survivors wants and needs the survivor not the parents or the Family should take over but try to help when asked and let the survivor figure out new ways to cope and restructure their lives in a much more inclusive and Independent way to fit their own needs. Dream Catchers - Awakening your potential - LesPaul Morgan I have to admit that sometimes its all I can do to get up and get out of bed when I am having a really bad migraine or cluster headache but I have always been a dreamer and I truly believe in the greater good of Humanity even in the darkest of Days or even when people said LesPaul give up. Stop trying so hard because there is no hope. You know what that’s when I found my inner Dream Catcher and that’s when I got mad enough and strong enough to start believing in my inner self to the point that it became outwardly visible that my life mattered and that there is a great hope in the future. For nearly all of my life I have been fascinated with everything Science. I mean BIG TIME!!! I watched everything space and technology or astronomy related when ever I could. So literally I have dedicated the lions share of my life to everything related to Science Technology and Innovation. Now in Comes Elon Musk and he decides he is not satisfied with the lack of progress that the US Space  program had with no follow up to the space shuttle and so he who was abused by both of his parents when he came home from School to going to School to get beat up while there. He said it was terrible! Did he let that stop his dreams? No. Did he let it decide his destiny? Absolutely not! Did he reach out and Catch His Dreams? Absolutely!!! His life was very hard and challenging and yet he thrived against ADVERSITY and became an OVER COMER!!! This is LesPaul Speaking I know lie can be very hard because mine sure has its not an option to quit or give but to join in together here with me on the Dream Catchers because we know it is right and just to reach out and catch your dreams even if its very hard to do so.
