Episode 47: A Case of Severe Dehydration
Everyone, It's an actual episode this week. Wow!Have you ever looked at a prop in haunted house and thought about what if that was a real person? Well this week we have an answer for that unspoken question! This week Meredith brings us another curious case. This one of being Elmer McCurdy also known as 'The Bandit who wouldn't give up'. He was an American outlaw who was unlucky in life and in death and he was found in an amusement park in California years after his death. But how he got there is a mystery. Our drink this week is a classic made from two American things; whiskey and Coke. We present to you a whiskey Coke. Probably one of the easiest drinks that you can make. Remember that desecration of a corpse is morally wrong, always drink responsibly, and don't be a dick.Looking for more spirits? Episode 45: Japanese Hooked on Phonics
Please be aware even the Japanese language isn't safe from this podcast, we'll butcher it too! Sorry in advance. It's episode 45 and we off to the land of vending machines, robotic toilets, and weird game shows. It's Meredith's turn to show us some of the unique folklore creatures that call Japan Home. We'll cover everything from an umbrella that likes to lick you, a woman that will steal your legs, and a monster that will stroke your butt as you use the toilet. These creatures ranges from cute to down right disturbing. A huge thank you to Yokai.com for providing the information in this episode. Again, we're sorry if you speak JapaneseTo accompany all of our creatures we'll sip on an unassuming yet dangerous cocktail that is only connected by name, The Japanese Slipper. A electric green cocktail that is just what you need for the summer. It's a drink that even a Haridashi would like. Episode 44: Domestic Basement Horror
Hide yo kids and hide yo wife, this week horror comes home. (Should be the last episode with jankie audio)Lock your doors Emma, is bring the horror home this week with the rise of domestic horror. We talk classic horror movies and give an attempt for movie trivia. But Emma brings us an in depth look about how some movie sets might be cursed and how the imaginary can have real world impacts. Plus how some of the most well known people in haunting investigations might not be what they seem to be. Our drink this week is the Sumo Margarita, which does have a tie in to the week's topic, I promise it does. Remember, the Devil might be stopping us from talking about things, always drink responsibly, and don't be a dick! Looking for more spirits? Episode 43: Both a Drink and a Disaster
Get your swamp boats and your Mardi Gras beads ready we are going to New Orleans!Specifically this week Meredith takes us down South to the Big Easy where we get to respectfully talk about a cemetery. We were told that there is a surprising lack of cemetery content for our haunted podcast. You asked and we deliver. To talk about one of the oldest cemeteries is a great honor. Saint Louis Cemetery no. 1 is nearly as old as the United States and is home to a few very historical figures. One that may or may not be immortal. For the drink we get to sample one of the most well know cocktails state side, one that was actually born in The French Quarter and near the topic of today's episode. Meredith educates us on the Hurricane, which was made because of a surplus of rum at the time. Remember that grave desecration is against the law, always drink responsibly, and don't be a dick. There is a new mic and mixer on the way! We promise that the audio will improve, thanks for you patience. Looking for more spirits? We're working on it.Emma knows that it isn't spooky lake month but she wants to celebrate early, so here we are. Specifically Emma blows Meredith's mind talking about Lake Baikal and the crazy sounds that seem strait out of Star Wars. We have it all this episode, talks about being in a submersible with Putin, ways to stay safe on the ice, and of course all the spooky things that happen in and on Lake Baikal. You should know by now that our drink we have this week. It's a tried and true classic, we have the Moscow Mule. It is January, which means that we are in full swing for "Dry January". We have the NA version of the drink, but you can easily make it in to the refreshing cocktail that we all know and love. It's the new year, but it's also the same mid audio. (I'm sorry I did the best I could)Welcome to 2026, the year where we hope things go well and that we can get some decent audio ( I promise, we are trying to). This week Meredith brakes out the history book and brings us a spiritual predecessor to the show. We discuss a haunted wine cabinet, better known as the Dybbuk Box. We also start the year off with a refreshing wine based drink. We acknowledge that it's normally dry January, but we just couldn't pass wine up for this story. Episode 40: How to Know You're the Least Favorite
Have you ever wondered if your Grandma hates you? Well if she gives you a cursed painting, she does. Emma teaches us about a creepy painting called "The Anguished Man". A supposedly haunted (or cursed) painting with unknown origins. We are going to find so many things wrong with this story, just get ready for it The drink this week is right on theme with the story too. It's a cursed recipie since it called for one of the worst ingredients of all time. But do we hate ourselves enough to actually go through with it.Remember, you are the worst, always drink responsibly, and don't be a dick Looking for more spirits? Episode 39: American Monster Roadtrip
Find the maps and grab the road snacks, it'll be a while until we stop for gas. Other than the stupidly high cost of health care there is nothing more American than a good old fashion road trip! With some of the states being larger than some countries there is a lot to see out there. But what we are seeking are the weirdest cryptids that we can find. Meredith take the driver's seat this week as she walks us through some of the craziest cryptids that she can find in different parts of the United States. There wasn't any real planning going into our refreshments this week. But we were able to find a good one. The tie into our stroy? It's a mixture of ingredients, just like the United States. Plus there is also whiskey, there's nothing more American than that!Remember alliteration is key when naming cryptids, always drink responsibly, and don't be a dick Looking for more spirits? Episode 38: Just a Bunch of Bones
Out of the oven and into the friar in this episode. This week it's a Halloween episode, and we are heading into the Empire of the Dead and we may or may not return. It all depends on if we are prepared and bring enough batteries for our cameras. Emma is our guide as we venture into the catacombs and discuss their significance throughout history. But the catacombs are best known as a place where million of bodies have covered the floors and have even been used to decorate the walls in a disturbingly beautiful way. The vibes are very Ed Gein, but without the nipple belt.We might not have all the proper gear but we do have drinks covered. We'll indulge ourselves on a gin based cocktail aptly named Lonesome Catacomb. It's another cocktail from a random webpage, but this one turns out to be better than the last one. Get ready to venture into the deep dark veins of civilization, it's peak spooky seasonRemember that your humanly husk can still be useful, always drink responsibly, and don't be a dick.Looking for more spirits? Episode 37: An Appropriate Exit Strategy
If there is few things Charlie Daniels taught us about the Devil is that he isn't the best fiddle player, and that he deals at cards. Our spooky season continues this week, and it's a special time here in the Spirit's studio. We are approaching the One Year Anniversary of the Show being published and it means the world to us that we can share our little stories with you. So thank you! This week we learn just why Meredith failed Biochemistry in college and the study aid that she used to help get through that class. A Challenging class at 8 am means that there is a need for coffee, perhaps you'd like the Irish kind. As we have our warm beverages Meredith brings us to Ireland and to Loftus Hall. A castle on a peninsula, we know it's not special. But What if we told you that the Devil made an appearance, and that he did a little redecorating?Remember to check your guest for hooves, always drink responsibly, and don't be a dick!Looking for more spirits? Episode 36: Half or Double Orphan?
This week we dive deep into the important, philosophical questions of life. But like always, we answer nothing. But Emma's computer chose to die part way though recording so sorry for the bad half of the audio. It's the beginning of October, that means two things; It's spooky season and it's also Spooky Lake Month. This week Emma sets the bar high by doing the bare minimum, But then she drops the bar lower since she brings back the worst liquor ever in this week's cocktail, The Autumn Bottoms up. This week Emma takes us a little south in Colorado as we head to Colorado Springs. Listen in as we get to talk about haunted trains, staying on the damn path, and what exactly makes someone an orphan. Small ghost children may push your car so that you can have better reception to hear this show.Remember the gold flakes are the only good thing about Goldschlager, always drink responsibly, and don't be a dick Looking for more spirits? Episode 35: Surviving Out of Spite
At first you don't succeed, do not try again. Sometimes it's best to just quit. This week takes us up to the Big Apple, specifically The Bronx in the 1930s, when prohibition was in full swing and everyone had the greatest of depressions. Meredith brings us another Curious Case. This particular case being of Irishman Michael Malloy who just would not die no matter how much wood alcohol or shrapnel sandwiches he consumed. It makes you wonder if he was being kept alive by divine intervention. Our drink this week is a lot less toxic to human health than wood alcohol. We are sipping on the aptly named New York Sour, different take on the classic whiskey sour. When alcohol could possibly be poisoned by the United State's Government the ingredients of this cocktail helped make things taste better.Remember to not commit insurance fraud, always drink responsibly, and don't be a dick!Looking for more spirits? Episode 34: Liquor.com and The British "Borrowed" a Lot of Things.
Well, we have a few things to share this week, but mostly we learned that if the British were to give back all their museum pieces they would just have an empty building. It's a expensive week here in the Spirit's Studio, Emma does last minute cocktail change and Meredith is just trying her best. But a cocktail will make it all better. This week Emma brings us the Blue Diamond cocktail, very blue, very pretty drink. If you have all the things to make a French 75, you can easily make this one. We're going to start the phrase "Go lick Rocks" to tell people off, since Emma is sharing information about how diamonds are formed, what goes into making a suitable cut gem, the lunacy of the diamond industry, and just how cursed diamonds can be. That's right folks, we are talking about cursed rocks.Remember, if it was shiny and historic the British probably stole it, always drink responsibly, and don't be a dick!Looking for more spirits? Episode 33: Free Will or The Truman Show
I don't know how to describe this episode, but here is the short and sweet of it. This week Meredith brings us into the world of coincidences and synchronicities. While Emma and Meredith sit and ponder things that would make our philosophy 101 professors happy. While sharing stories Meredith Introduces us to a lovely cocktail, very appropriately named Serendipity. A cocktail with apple brandy as the base with apple juice and fresh mint leaves. Quite tasty if you ask us. Remember, one small thing can have a huge impact on your life, always drink responsibly, and don't be a dick. Looking for more spirits? Episode 32: The Illegitimate Love Child of MothMan and Sasquatch
Folks, I'll be honest it's been struggling to write a description for this episode. It's past my bedtime and I forgot how far off the rails this episode gets. When I say off the rails, I mean really off the rails. Kind of like how Tommy Lee Jones was able to divert a lava flow in downtown LA using city busses in the 1997 movie Volcano. Unfortunately there was no Busses available when Mt. Saint Helen erupted in 1980. The eruption caused massive damage, but it was also the possible birth of one of the weirdest creatures we've discussed so far. Emma has now introduced us to BatSquatch, who is always depicted as being incredibly ripped for some reason. At least she also comes baring a delicious punch style cocktail spiked enough to make you see BatSquatch. Just pour all ingredients into the punch bowl and get to drinking. It'll be a hit at your next Halloween party. Which, fun fact, is the next noteworthy holiday after the Fourth of July.Remember if a volcano erupts call Tommy Lee Jones, always drink responsibly, and don't be a dick. Looking for more spirits? Episode 31: Our Lizard Overlords and Suitcase Gargoyles
Ladies and gentlemen, please make sure your seat backs and tray tables are in their full upright positions during takeoff, things are about to get a little weird. It's summer and that means summer vacations. What's more refreshing than having a cocktail at 30,000 feet while being suspending inside a metal tube? Want a cocktail but don't want to pay the ridiculous price? We got you covered. Meredith brings up to the Mile High Mint Julip, a mid-flight cocktail that you can make yourself with just a few ingredients. All you need are mints, Sprite, and a shooter of bourbon, but be ready to give it a little time. You're on a plane, what do you have to lose? We're staying close to home this week and talking about Denver International Airport (DIA). Yes, it is an airport but there are some weird things that have happened. Mostly there are a bunch of batshit crazy conspiracy theories that have no foundation in anything. Though it's weird, we love DIA, everything from the secret bunkers for the lizard overlords to the big blue veiny horse with red eyes.Remember that in event of a water landing, your seat cushion can be used as a flotation device and to secure your own oxygen mask before helping those around you, always drink responsibly, and as always don't be a dick. It's officially summer, so get your tents and marshmallows out. We're going camping! This week Emma gives us the true camping experience. Not with bug bites or gross bathrooms, but with classic campfire stories. Get ready to hear how bonkers they get, while Meredith loses her mind over them. We don't come empty handed either, along with Emma's stories we also bring beer! An essential for any good time around a campfire. Particularly we're sipping on shandies. A delightful mixture of beer and lemonade, with a possible origin reflecting the divine, or just a con man. Either way, it's delicious and we are happy Remember to bring your jazzy hats, always drink responsibly, and don't be a dick Looking for more spirits? Episode 28: Terrors and Tales from the Trenches
"War. War Never Changes."Ever drunk Baileys from a shoe, how about a cocktail from an artillery shell? It's all about doing what you can with what you got. This week Emma digs us deep into the trenches in World War One. If you didn't study for your history test we got you covered, we get a crash course in the Game Of Thrones type politics of the world, but then we dig a little too deep and start to find some skeletons. We cover the terrors of No Man's Land, the cannibalistic trench trolls, and how the war was possibly won because of a statue of the Virgin Mary. Keeping with our war theme, we have a cocktail that has an supposed origin of being shaken in a 75mm artillery shell. It's the cool and the classic French 75, who has recently come back into the zeitgeist of the cocktail world. Remember that God was an ally, always drink responsibly, and don't be a dick. Episode 27: If the Void Calls, I'm Not Here
It's 11 o'clock on Thursday night and this episode comes out in one hour, maybe someday we'll have the episodes edited before the deadline. But today is not that day. What a bad choice.Bad choices are the theme of today's episode, Meredith makes us relive the horror of having to deal with sand getting everywhere with the drink for the week, Sex On The Beach. Though it may seem fun, remember that sand gets everywhere and never goes away. Continuing with bad decisions this week listened to the story "The Call Of The Void", a post on the r/nosleep subreddit. A creepy tale of what happens when you listen to the little voice in the back of your head that tells you to jump. The world is a better place with you in it. Episode 25: White Ladies and The Everlasting Faint
Oh boy do we have a treat for you this week. It's not just one or two stories this time. This week Meredith brings us three separate stories that you can say were based off of the paranormal, or maybe just calling it a hunch would be more accurate. But we dive into three different cases where ghosts helped bring their murders to justice. While we listen to the tales of these ladies reach out from beyond the grave, we get to sip on the original recipe for 'The White Lady". A dink that tastes just of gin with maybe a little lime juice. But don't worry, this is the original, the modern version tastes much better.Remember to snitch on your murder, always drink responsibly, and don't be a dick Looking for more spirits? This week has been a lot, and we don't have the spoons to deal with it. But luckily We still have an episode for you today. This week Emma take us to the warm, sunny beaches of what used to be a sovereign nation. If you're thinking of a place outside of America then you're wrong. We're going to Hawaii! Emma gives us a run down of the importance of rum and sugar cane to the islands, while Meredith loses it over the mini bottle of daiquiri that Emma brought back.If you want a look at some of Oahu's most haunted locations then you're in the right place. But be warned, for some reason there is a lot of pee in this episode. We're not sure why but it may just save your life. Episode 23: Welcome to the Goat Man Ranch
We have to set a new low bar for humanity this week, and we still expect people to trip over it. This week we take on a cocktail with a contested origin. Though it's name might conjure up images of a barnyard and cows, it's actually quite delicious. Made with four ingredients, this may become your got to summer drink. We certainly wont complain about it. This week Meredith brings us the unofficial official drink of West Texas, Ranch Water with it's required ingredient. But what story can be told with such a type of drink? In addition to bringing us to the ranch, Meredith is also taking us to the bridge. More specifically, we're going to the Old Alton Bridge in Denton Texas. A haunted location that may or may not be home to satanic rituals, ghosts, and a vengeful goat man. But be warned, if you visit the bridge and knock three times your family lineage may just get you killed. Emma gets us to our topic through some unusual means, but when we get there we just go strait off the deep end. Literally. We venture into the icy cold waters of Japan and the Antarctic to search for the Ningen. Will we find a large humanoid albino mermaid, or will we find a cotton ball on legs? We honestly don't know which one would be better to find. But what we do find is a nice sake drink to accompany our cryptid. Called Dragon's Milk, the drink reflects the size and color of the Ningen. Yes it's February, we know that. But due to traveling and poor planning we bring you the last episode for dry January then it's back to our usual cocktails. But, oh boy did we pick a drink to go out on, it's the first one that made us nervous. This week Emma treats us to the story of the Magnolia Mansion located in the historic city of New Orleans. It's a haunted hotel with some ghosts that are just real jerks and ghost kids that behave like cats, and thats not even the crazy part. Get ready to venture into themed rooms like a vampire lover's lair for all your vacation needs. The drink for this week was ~interesting~. It's a weird mixture of expresso, orange juice and lime.
