Raise your hand if you have bought a planner, used it for a good two weeks, and then left it to die in a drawer or doom pile filled with more planners. The complexities that are being multi-passionate, and an intense planner who may or may not need flexibility leads you to a planner graveyard. You can never find something that is both rigid and flexible. You're not asking for a lot right?! If you raised your hand then this week's episode with Angela and Molly is just what you need. Don’t Tell Me To Function

The Struggle Bus is real. Oh, shit, can I say that? Today's conversation takes Angela and Molly into the DSM 5 game of Autistic "levels" of support.  Where they will talk all about the importance of words, how outdated words need to go (maybe), why functioning labels (in all forms) can fly a freakin' kite and also, we see the point of those who say they should stay. Stress, Silos, and Racing Thoughts

“Have you ever had something you were looking forward to so much, and you had to put so much effort and energy in planning that thing and it's consumed your mind and kept you up at night? And you're up in the morning and you're barely eating or you're over eating? Because you're putting so much effort into this thing?” (Molly, 1:49)  Yeah, this happened to Angela as they prepared for and then hosted a huge, very important event for them, and we dare say the entire ND community. Advocacy and IEP with Rebecca A. Weiner, M. ED.

Rebecca A. Weiner, M.Ed. is back with us today in this powerful episode about inclusion, advocacy and self-advocacy, IEPs and other learning plans and goal-setting, and the power of curiosity (seriously, she has an amazing story about a classroom transformation all thanks to the power of “so what” and “what-if” in one of the classrooms she has collaborated with).  Molly brings in real-life questions and experiences from a parent perspective and Angela speaks about poverty, justice, and access—or lack of it—to resources which make it easier or exponentially more difficult for students, parents, teachers, staff members, schools, and the community to have what they need for education to be meaningful and effective.   RESOURCES Stimagz*: https://www.stimagz.com/products/stimagz-12?ref=drudgeryanddreams Coupon Code = DNDDStim for 15% off your entire purchase Rebecca’s website: www.learnplaygrowconsulting.com Rebecca on IG:https://www.instagram.com/learnplaygrowconsulting/ Rebecca on FB: https://m.facebook.com/RebeccaAWeinerMEd Rebecca on LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/RebeccaAWeinerMEd Rebecca on Easter: https://www.linkedin.com/posts/rebeccaaweinermed_easter-egg-hunts-can-be-so-much-fun-and-activity-7048695370402459648-cViz?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop IDEA - https://sites.ed.gov/idea/ and https://sites.ed.gov/idea/language-support/ The Sum of Us Podcast: https://www.thesumofuspodcast.com/ The Sum of Us Book: https://bookshop.org/p/books/the-sum-of-us-what-racism-costs-everyone-and-how-we-can-prosper-together-heather-mcghee/14618549?aid=25144&ean=9780525509585&listref=inclusion-equity-and-justice Family to Family Network in Houston: https://f2fn.org/   What do you want to know? Why can’t my neurodivergence be accommodated too?

“Back the fork up. I'm about to explode like my little kiddos house in Minecraft when it's built from TNT” (Molly, 7:56). Today, we are talking about needing accommodations but not always getting them because we are the one’s doing the accommodations most of the time. Because we can…until we can’t. We talk about why “functioning” is not an appropriate assessment for someone’s support needs, how we can normalize setting meeting expectations and using a “User Manual” to support communications with others, and that assholes aren’t always assholes, but maybe just people who need support but aren’t given the opportunity to access that support.    What do you want to know? Neurodivergent Sensory, Stims, & Supports

Rocking, magnets, and squeeks*! Oh my! In this episode, we get into the nitty gritty of the senses, all eight of them. You heard that right—EIGHT, not the five you were taught in elementary school! Then things get stimmy when Molly shares how multiple ND people in one home can be tricky and Angela adds that knowing your own sensory profile as well as those in your space allows for more time with the parasympathetic nervous system activated—hint, this is what regulation looks like! Point being, wherever you are in your ND journey—psst, self-diagnosis is valid—you deserve support and that support helps you do the things that you want to do for yourself and others.

Stardate 76568.5 Molly’s Neurodivergent, Queer, Squeektastic Voyage

Sergeant Squeaks is in the house! Molly may not have known they were neurodivergent their whole life–but now that she does? Well–that’s what this episode is all about. Reflecting on the highest and lowest points of her past to acknowledge the (now obvious) signs of her ND life. Listen as Angela helps Molly talley up the list of uniquely squeeky things that make Molly the unique geek she truly is. When the mice wake up Cinderella and the aqua marker enters the scene, things truly land in the Delta Quadrant. Engage!

  13. 14

    Angela’s ADHD, Queer, Autistic Wonderland

You asked for it so here it is. Angela’s story. Angela takes Molly on a tour through her Wonderland. The story starts in Weirdville and takes a side quest to Queertown. A trip to Autisticland brings back memories for Molly as she recalls Angela’s first visit before she realized that it was home. And Angela admits that she hid in the burrow of ADHD for the longest time not realizing that her real home was where all of these places converge. The interstates are all connected at the heart of Wonderland where Angela now spends most of her time.

    Anti-Resolution and New Year’s Transitions

Welcome to Season 2! Molly and Angela are excited to get going this year! And what better topic than resolutions and transitions, right? True to their ND spirits, they aren’t jumping on the resolutions bandwagon. Instead, they are talking anti-resolutions by not making resolutions at all or—YIKES!—only making resolutions that you actually want to make that are thought through and designed for success! And those pesky transitions come up again as they talk about personal transitions, kid transitions, and transitions through changing social norms.

  15. 12

    Medicine, Masks, and Meltdowns

Depending on your own neurospicy flavor, this week's episode may be a must listen. We're talking all about how medicines eff with our ability to mask, the different ways people in the neurodivergent community view masking, and all the overloads/meltdowns--and even this word is a controversy in the community--that come as a result of life with AND without meds.

  16. 11

We are giving a big ass enthusiastic YES! to this one!!! From FRIES to rings and yummy goodness in between, this episode is a full course meal! Co-Regulation and Neurodiversity

In this episode of Drudgery and Dreams, Molly and Angela dive into the importance of co-regulation. Last week, Molly showed us all how to co-regulate when she supported Angela when she got overwhelmed and was legit frozen from the restraints of time and the sheer amount of things she wanted to say about something she is so passionate about (BDSM as a healthy way to regulate). We address the value of co-regulation in all of our relationships—partnerships, friendships, as parents, at work, etc.

  20. 7

    BDSM Outside of the Bedroom

Bondage, Dominance, Submission…let’s talk about that! Today, Molly and Angela delve into BDSM—but not exactly in the way you might expect. We aren’t talking about sex, baby! This episode is all about understanding how the structure and practices within BDSM can support us individually as well as in our relationships with others. And you’ll get a first hand spontaneous and accidental demonstration of how Molly and Angela use those principles in their interactions together as Molly supports Angela when she gets overwhelmed with constraints on talking about her special interest.   Be sure to subscribe to get all the updates on NEW episodes each week.   Want to watch next week's episode LIVE? Follow us on YouTube:

Molly and Angela are calling BS again. 💩🚩💩🚩   This time, it’s all about the toxic side of positive psychology, how confidence culture is making us feel worse, and acknowledging that conversations around “imposter syndrome,” as it has been defined by the current social narrative, might be holding us back rather than propelling us forward.   There are some serious gold nuggest in here that surprised even us!   🎧 LISTEN NOW

Building a Biz out of Necessity

What happens if you realize—well, fork me, I guess I need to start a business? With up to 85% un- or under-employment, many neurodivergent and queer folks become entrepreneurs out of necessity. In this episode, we discuss how businesses aren’t always the product of passion and inspiration–but a way to survive.

  25. 2

    Neurodivergence and Queerness

We are here, we are queer…and neurodivergent. Those two things are not separate from one another. They go together like love and gay marriage 😉 It’s bisexual awareness week and we are celebrating by talking about understanding ourselves as queer beings from childhood right up to today. We share our personal stories, but also some emerging science addressing this specific intersection and how it affects the care we receive. Jump down this rabbit hole with us and see what little nuggets we find to chew on along the way.
