    EP #2: Weaving Faith and Courage Into The Essence of African Women with Dr. Leyla Hussein Sirad

    Growing up, Leyla underwent female genital mutilation (FGM), a practice that was performed by her loving family. Later on, she became a war refugee in London after they escaped Somalia when war broke out. Additionally, she entered into marriage at a young age, a situation known to pose significant challenges for many African women.Despite facing numerous challenges, Leyla has defied the odds, emerging as a disruptor and an advocate within systems.  She has become an international voice, tirelessly advocating for the creation of safe spaces for women worldwide with numerous Global Organisations. Among her accomplishments is innovative work addressing the social and emotional needs of FGM activists and survivors; to the extent of being elected to be one of 25 statues that were erected to honour women who are positively impacting the world in Sutton, London. In this episode, we delve into Leyla's life journey, exploring the ideas, concepts, and introspections that have shaped her into the courageous and remarkable woman she is today.To learn more about Leyla & the work she does, check her LinkedIn profile.
