I didn’t see the Barbie movie, I couldn’t see SZA, and I cutback on my door dash for Kpop concerts. Let’s talk about the struggle of not getting paid much, while also spending your money on traveling for concerts.

I’m so upset with myself that it took me a whole month to upload a podcast episode. But in all honesty I was going through a difficult time and it really drained me out emotionally so I wasn’t feeling creative or like I could really talk about a topic for a certain amount of time. But I’m back and I’m going to try my best to upload weekly!!

So, I just recently had a birthday a little bit over a week ago and it honestly didn’t even feel like it was my birthday. Why? Because I don’t celebrate my birthday. I’ve always had this complicated relationship with birthdays so I thought there was no better time to make an episode about it and why I don’t personally celebrate it.

So I recently went to the Beabadoobee show in Pittsburgh at Stage AE and it was honestly one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. I was at the barricade, I love her music, and I even got the chance to take a selfie with Bea after the show! So what was wrong? I went to the concert by myself and I usually go to concerts by myself. And honestly, I prefer to go to concerts by myself but seeing friend groups talk to each other gets me this weird lonesome feeling and that’s what I’m going to be talking about.

For all of my life I’ve been talking to myself. Even since I was a literal child. I always thought is was a pretty normal thing to do (especially for introverts like myself). But my family always thought that me talking to myself was the strangest thing and I never understood why. So I did so research to discover why people “self-talk” to themselves and I talk about why I do it.

On this week’s episode I wanted to talk about my experience with me being labeled as an “Oreo” and how that affected me growing up. To put it in simple terms the term “Oreo” means a black person who “inherited” the traits of white (American) people. Basically it’s the saying, “black on the outside, white on the inside”.
