Forest Therapy, Embodying Nature, and Regulating Your Nervous System With Robyn of Awaken To Nature-FYW65
More About RobynWith a combined background of Environmental Studies, Counselling, and Somatics, this work has been a core part of my life for nearly two decades. It all began when I experienced a profound opening to the healing and transformative power of nature connection in my early 20s.Following a traumatic period of my life, a series of synchronistic events led me to live off-grid in the temperate rainforest of coastal British Columbia in a log cabin. For six months, I lived immersed in nature and experienced deep nervous system re-patterning and spiritual awakeningFrom that time on, I knew that my life's work was to dig into the wondrous healing power of nature connection, and I have studied, practiced, and taught this ever since.I am also a mother to three girls, and have worked as an Addictions Therapist, Domestic Violence Crisis Counsellor, Forest School Instructor, and teacher of my ancestral British & Irish animist traditions. My academic background includes Nature & Forest Therapy, Environmental Studies, Women's Studies, Herbalism, Counselling, Social Work, Somatics, Ecotherapy, and Psychology. Most importantly, I have spent thousands of hours in direct communion with nature and wilderness in Europe and North America, which has enabled me to process trauma and reshape my life.My most profound and heart-opening relationships have been with the rocky shores and temperate rainforest of the Pacific North West, and the mountainous, boggy Highlands and Islands of Scotland. The spirits of these landscapes continue to be my greatest mentors, andhave formed me to have affinity with mountain, island, deep forest, coastline, and sea-scapes. These experiences and education have provided me with a strong understanding of the intricate relationships between ourselves and the natural world. Embodied nature connection is extraordinarily potent, and I believe it is one of the most impactful ways for us to make meaning out of our experiences, navigate challenges, and create holistic wellness. Other essential elements of my life include being a single mother to my three incredibledaughters, an on-going inquiry into my ancestral ways of knowing (Gaelic animism), and somatic exploration of living through Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma and treatment. I live alternately between the traditional unceded Tsleil-Waututh Nation and Squamish Nation territory, North Vancouver, British Columbia, and traditional Saugeen Ojibway Nation Territory,Awaken to Nature offers courses, experiential circles, and other resources on Ecosomatics and Animism (ancient British Isles traditions).Intro/Outro Song- Call Of The Wild - by Luke Rain and Sarah Connerhttps://open.spotify.com/track/Ofya9VdYHv90T1NTMMU1UF?si=BFUGJuCQ8ikzGW4A78MUACheck Out Our Merch! Over the past eight years, we have created more than 1,500 miniature artworks, each layered with 20+ cuts of archival paper and detailed with watercolours to capture the soul of each creature. Our art is not just about precision or beauty; it's a call to look closer. At a time when many species are disappearing faster than they're discovered, we want to hold space for their stories. From vibrant parrots to elusive amphibians, our creations aim to spark curiosity, admiration, and a deeper sense of care for the natural world.Working from our home studio in India, we bring together the fine details of wildlife observation with a constantly evolving paper technique. Through "The Paper Ark, we hope to build a bridge between people and nature, where even the smallest artwork can carry the weight of a powerful message. We believe that art can make you fall in love with what you may never see in person. A Woman Among Wolves; Studying and Tracking Wolves in Montana with Diane K. Boyd-FYW49
More About Diane: World-renowned wildlife biologist Diane Boyd has spent four decades studying and advocating for wolves in the wilds of Montana near Glacier National Park. In the 1970s, she was the only female biologist in the United States researching and radio-collaring wild wolves. With her two dogs for company, she faced the rigors of the Montana winter in an isolated cabin without running water or electricity. Boyd fearlessly forded icy rivers, strapped on skis to navigate thick stands of lodgepole pine, and monitored wolf packs from the air in a tiny bush plane. She faced down grizzly bears, mountain lions, wolverines—and the occasional trapper—as she stalked her quarry: a handful of wolves making their way south from Canada into Montana. Resourceful and resilient, she matched wits with the wolves and negotiated with locals as wolf populations grew from the first natural colonizer to the thousands of wolves in the West today.Check Out Diane’s Book: A Woman Among WolvesGet Your Copy At Any Of These Booksellers:Greystone Books: https://greystonebooks.com/products/a-woman-among-wolves?_pos=1&_sid=718182762&_ss=rAmazon: https://www.amazon.com/Woman-Among-Wolves-Journey-Recovery/dp/1778401139Amazon CA: https://www.amazon.ca/Woman-Among-Wolves-Journey-Recovery/dp/1778401139/ref=sr_1_1?crid=L6UGIDTMHBRS&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.yBAtT7aDL33onXoYHyINog.FVUNlecR7Lj9WtEB4RwVj3qdHEsAmtSoD11HOiOnci4&dib_tag=se&keywords=9781778401138&qid=1707932278&sprefix=9781778401138%2Caps%2C130&sr=8-1Indigo: https://www.indigo.ca/en-ca/a-woman-among-wolves-my-journey-through-forty-years-of-wolf-recovery/9781778401138.html?searchType=products&searchTerm=9781778401138Barnes & Noble: https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/a-woman-among-wolves-diane-k-boyd/1144516835?ean=9781778401138Bookshop: https://bookshop.org/p/books/a-woman-among-wolves-my-journey-through-forty-years-of-wolf-recovery/20978578?ean=9781778401138More Ways To Connect With Diane:Website: https://www.dianekboyd.comInstagram: @mtcanisIntro/Outro Song- Call Of The Wild - by Luke Rain and Sarah Connerhttps://open.spotify.com/track/Ofya9VdYHv90T1NTMMU1UF?si=BFUGJuCQ8ikzGW4A78MUACheck Out Our Merch! Foxes Are Not Good Pets And The Truth About Fur Farms With Nicole Navarro Of Pawsitive Beginnings- FYW48
More About Nicole:Nicole Navarro's passion for animal welfare and rescue began at a young age, nurtured by her upbringing on a sprawling horse farm in Western Pennsylvania. Her journey with foxes started in 2018 while volunteering at the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Animal Farm in Key West, Florida. It was there that she recognized the urgent need for dedicated sanctuaries capable of providing lifelong care for foxes rescued from the fur trade.Determined to make a difference, Nicole founded Pawsitive Beginnings Inc. in March 2020, creating a safe haven where rescued foxes can heal, thrive, and inspire change.More About Pawsitive Beginnings:Pawsitive Beginnings provides a safe and nurturing permanent home for foxes rescued from the fur trade. In some cases, fur farmers choose to surrender foxes deemed undesirable or "rejects" due to deformities or inadequate fur quality. These animals, often discarded by the industry, find refuge with us, where they receive the care and respect they deserve. We collaborate with organizations in regions where fur farming is prevalent, offering placement assistance for foxes in need. When we are unable to provide direct sanctuary, we actively network with reputable rescues and sanctuaries to ensure that each fox is placed in the hands of a qualified caregiver.Under no circumstances do we purchase foxes from fur farms, as doing so would only contribute to the continuation of this industry. Our mission is to rescue and advocate without financially supporting the practices we work to end.More Ways To Connect With Pawsitive Beginnings: Instagram: @pawsitive_beginnings_incFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/pawsitivebeginningsrescue/Website: https://pawsitivebeginnings.org/Intro/Outro Song- Call Of The Wild - by Luke Rain and Sarah Connerhttps://open.spotify.com/track/Ofya9VdYHv90T1NTMMU1UF?si=BFUGJuCQ8ikzGW4A78MUACheck Out Our Merch! Glass Blowing, Sobriety, and Fish As Inspiration with Martin Gerdin
More About Martin Gerdin:Martin Gerdin was born in a small town in the Colorado Rockies. Raised in the wilderness, his childhood fostered a love for the natural forms and colors that surrounded him during his youth, especially those in the rivers. He began blowing glass in 2008, when he discovered the studio at his high school. Fascinated by the material, he spent every spare moment learning and absorbing as much as he could. Being an avid fisherman, blown glass fish were a natural progression in his artistic journey. As he grew, he lost his way. Addiction clawed it way into every aspect of his life, and he lost the vision of the future. Doing craft shows and drinking enough to prevent seizures due to alcoholism became the norm. On May 13th of 2020, he decided enough was enough. After addiction treatment he fell into a crowd of young, sober fly fishermen. With a clear head and a fresh perspective, he strived to bring the beautiful wild salmonids he saw to life; in glass. Since his sobriety date he has made close to 700 fish, making his own tools and trying to push the limits in sculpting realism. Being only 31, his journey is just beginning…For More Ways To Connect With Martin Gerdin:Instagram: @martin_gerdin_glassFacebook: http://facebook.com/people/Martin-Gerdin-Glass/61558763206335/YouTube: http://youtube.com/@martin_gerdin_glassWebsite: https://www.martingerdinglass.comIntro/Outro Song- Call Of The Wild - by Luke Rain and Sarah Connerhttps://open.spotify.com/track/Ofya9VdYHv90T1NTMMU1UF?si=BFUGJuCQ8ikzGW4A78MUACheck Out Our Merch! Sarah's Journey Surviving Domestic Abuse And Giving Hope To Survivors With Sarah Hanafin- FYW42
More About Sarah: Sarah has been working with wolves for over 8 years. Her journey began when she was asked to do reiki healing for 3 new wolf dog rescues. It was then she was brought in with their resident Gray wolves that would forever change her life. Growing up being bullied and being an abuse survivor, she felt like she never quite fit in. It wasn't til the day she came face to face with Lomasi, a 100% pure gray wolf, that she felt like she was finally home and where she belonged.Through her passion for wolves, she found an incredible community of people that share that same admiration. Finding out about wolf hunting and inhumane practices, being an abuse survivor and having the wolves become family, she knew she had to be a voice for them. What started as just wanting to share her love for wolves with a few friends grew an audience to be able to share that love and education to people all over the world."As someone that never had a voice being bullied and abused, the wolves helped me find my voice," Sarah said. She has not only taken her circumstances and become a voice for wolves, but has turned that into a healing practice to help others heal from pain and trauma. She hopes her voice to help create more voices and help protect wolves and wildlife in our ecosystem.More Ways To Connect With Sarah:Instagram: @wildsouls_healthInstagram: @wolfgirl_maineInstagram: @sara_hannahhhInstagram: @sarah_alfred_photographyInstagram: @adventurez_with_alfieDomestic Abuse ResourcesNational Domestic Hotline1800.799.SAFE(7233)Text “start” to 88788https://www.thehotline.org/Resources For Those In MaineThrough These Doors-24/7/365 confidential hotline: 1-800-537-6066http://www.throughthesedoors.orgInstagram: throughthesedoors207maineSafe Voices-24/7/365 hotline 1-800-599-2927safevoices.orglinktr.ee/safevoicesRescources For Those With Petshttps://www.purina.com/purple-leash-projecthttps://redrover.org/relief-dv/Check Out Our Merch!https://www.etsy.com/shop/ShopFemmeSauvageStay Connected!Instagram: FindYourWildPodcastTik Tok: FindYourWildPodFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/people/Find-Your-Wild-Podcast/Instagram: ShopFemmeSauvageTik Tok: ShopFemmeSauvageFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/p/Shop-Femme-Sauvage/Charities We Donate To Through Our Brand Femme Sauvage:https://www.apexprotectionproject.orghttps://www.orcaconservancy.orghttps://www.cheetahexperience.comhttps://www.dolphinproject.comhttps://www.rewildingamericanow.orghttps://www.galapagoswhaleshark.org

North Carolina's Wild Red Wolves, Ethical Wildlife Photography and More with WildlifeWithAspen-FYW40
More About Aspen:Hi! My name is Aspen and I am a wildlife guide at Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge, photographer, and canid coexistence worker. I grew up in North Carolina and went to Wake Forest University for biology, where I specifically studied wolves and coyotes. I worked heavily in Winston Salem on coyote-human interactions and coexistence. Additionally, I studied carnivore ecology and coexistence in Tanzania. This year, I also worked for Wildlands Network on a red wolf project, where I monitored a trail camera project dedicated to studying the relationships of wolves and other species on the landscape. That gave me the opportunity to learn the refuge and individual wolves well. I'm trained in wildlife tracking as well, which comes in handy on the refuge. For More Ways To Connect With Aspen:Instagram: @wildlifewithaspen Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/wildlifewithaspen/Email: @[email protected]: https://wildlifewithaspen.com/Buy Aspen’s Prints Here:Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/shop/YanhiTreasures?For More On Aspen’s Guiding Tours:TripAdvisor: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_ Review-g49317-d24823918-Reviews-Wildlife_ with_Aspen-Manns_Harbor_ North_Carolina.htmlIntro/Outro Song- Call Of The Wild - by Luke Rain and Sarah Connerhttps://open.spotify.com/track/Ofya9VdYHv90T1NTMMU1UF?si=BFUGJuCQ8ikzGW4A78MUACheck Out Our Merch! Takaya, The Lone Wolf; And How His Life and Howls Inspired A Movement With Cheryl Alexander-FYW39
More About Cheryl & Takaya:In 2012, a lone wolf appeared on an island near Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. When he first showed up on the island, local authorities said he couldn’t survive. There were no deer to hunt, no year-round source of fresh water. They said that he would be a danger, as he was so close to the city. They debated shooting him. Yet somehow, against the odds, the wolf found a way to survive and thrive, demonstrating remarkable resilience and adaptability. This wolf is known as Takaya. For eight years, conservation photographer and naturalist Cheryl Alexander observed and documented Takaya’s life on the island. She produced a documentary about the wolf, entitled “Takaya: Lone Wolf,” which premiered on CBC’s Nature of Things in October 2019. The documentary was subsequently broadcast on BBC in the United Kingdom and on ARTE in continental Europe. The film has also been featured in several film festivals and has received widespread critical acclaim.Takaya’s story touched people around the world. There was something about his presence and bearing, his beauty and independence and elemental wildness, that deeply moved people. Following the broadcast of the film, people began to spontaneously create artwork in honour of Takaya. They sent their artwork to Cheryl, often including personal messages about what Takaya’s story meant to them.In January 2020, for reasons unknown, Takaya left the island and swam to the city’s shore. He wandered the streets of Victoria for two days. (To see a map of his path through the city, click here.) On his second day in the city, he was tranquilized and relocated to the wilderness on the west coast of Vancouver Island. In March 2020, Takaya was shot and killed by a hunter near Shawnigan Lake, approximately 50 kilometres away from where he was originally released. His death sparked outrage and deep sorrow among the global community that had gathered around him. Artists from Vancouver Island and beyond were inspired to create visual tributes to honour the life and legacy of this remarkable wolf. This artwork was featured in the Takaya Lone Wolf International Arts Festival on October 24-25, 2020.Takaya’s Legacy Project was established in order to celebrate Takaya, to share his story with a wider community, and to showcase the stunning and diverse collection of tributes that have been created in his honour. This organization will extend Takaya’s legacy by raising funds to support organizations that preserve wild spaces, protect wild creatures, and end the recreational and government-mandated killing of wolves.More Ways To Connect With Cheryl:Instagram: @takayalonewolfInstagram: @cherwildawakeEmail: [email protected]: https://www.facebook.com/takayalonewolfWebsite: https://takayaslegacy.com/Check Out Cheryl’s Full Linktree for More Resources And Information About Wolf Laws and Policies Around The World:https://linktr.ee/takayaslegacyRead This Article From Pacific Wildlife About The Wolf Culls In British Colombia:https://pacificwild.org/press-release-bc-wolf-cull-approved-for-five-additional-years/Intro/Outro Song- Call Of The Wild - by Luke Rain and Sarah Connerhttps://open.spotify.com/track/Ofya9VdYHv90T1NTMMU1UF?si=BFUGJuCQ8ikzGW4A78MUACheck Out Our Merch!
