    In the 1990s Australian Director Alex Proyas made a splash with critically and financially successful movie "The Crow".     Spacecamp (1986)

    In 1982 Space Camp opened in Huntsville Alabama. It was a place that promoted science, math, and the U.S. Space program to young students. The 1980's also saw the launch of the Space Shuttle program. Space exploration was cool to the kids in America.In 1986 Hollywood wanted to capitalize on this space craze among young kids and released the family friendly adventure film "SpaceCamp".     the 1980s saw the rise of many cool new sports. Karate tournaments were all the rage, wrestling was hot and sexy, and skateboarding was becoming mainstream. To capitalize on these new suburban sports, BMX biking got it's moment to shine with the movie "Rad".     In 1984 The Talking Heads released their concert film "Stop Making Sense". The movie would go on to be regarded as one of the greatest concert films ever.     Superman IV: The Quest For Peace (1987)

    Christopher Reeve brought Superman to the big screen, and it was a huge success. At least the first two movies were huge successes. After a disappointing Superman III, Cannon Films graabed the rights and tried to bring success back to the Big Blu Boy Scout with Superman IV: The Quest for Peace. Reeve was back along with Margot Kidder and Gene Hackman. Up and coming stars Muriel Hemingway and Jon Cryer were added. Succes seemed to be in the cards.     In the 1990's super hero movies were not that big of a deal. Superman had fallen out opf favor and Batman was getting away from it's Tim Burton influences.     The Transformers: The Movie (1986)

    By the mid 1980's The Transformers were a cultural powerhouse. The toys were flying off the shelves, kids were rushing home from school to watch the cartoon, and the promise of a feature length movie was on the horizon. Once the kids settled in to watch their hero Optimus Prime battle Megatron and his Decepticons hopes were high. What followed was nearly 90 minutes of brutal fights and the deaths of their favorite heroes.
