Fractals

Fractals are structures with details at all scales. There are 3 main types used for art: iterated function systems aka "flames" like Electric Sheep (2D), escape time like the Mandelbrot set (2D), and raymarched signed distance estimate fields like the Mandelbulb (3D). Zoom videos are a subgenre of fractal animation where smaller and smaller details of 2D escape time fractals are progressively magnified.
