Fringe Snippets

Host Ross Crae welcomes some of the best comedy talent coming to the Edinburgh Fringe onto his little community radio show to have a chat about the festival and choose three songs: their ideal walk-on theme, a tune that reminds them of the Fringe or comedy in general, and one they just love listening to at the moment.

Fringe Snippets #5 - Olga Koch

OLGA KOCH is the special guest for episode six! Her new show (which I've just seen and is excellent) is called PRAWN COCKTAIL and covers turning 30, holidaying with a stranger in Japan, and all her Magical Michaels. In this episode, we talk about her travels around the world, karaoke, hitting the wrestling ring, an incident in Cineworld, living in a big house this Fringe, and much more. Olga's song choices are: Stupid Love - Lady GaGa Walking on Broken Glass - Annie Lennox The Only Mama That'll Walk The the Line - Linda Ronstadt --- Olga Koch - Prawn Cocktail, Monkey Barrel 1, August 10-27, 7:35pm

  2. 5

    Fringe Snippets #5 - Christopher Macarthur-Boyd

Episode five sees the dawning of a new age in the podcast as CHRISTOPHER MACARTHUR-BOYD becomes the first guest to sing some of their song choices. Plus BodyRockers' 2005 anthem I Like The Way You Move, and Rey Mysterio's old entrance theme. As he sells out tickets by the barrowload at this year's Fringe, CMB (the deadliest three letters in comedy entertainment) chats about his festival so far, the scary times we live in, the Scottish comedy scene, wrestling, touring with Frankie Boyle, and more. Christopher's song choices are: Some Mutts (Can't Be Muzzled) - Amyl & The Sniffers Punk Rock Loser - Viagra Boys Laura - Girls --- Christopher Macarthur-Boyd: Scary Times, Monkey Barrel The Tron, Aug 10-13, 15-27, 7:15pm

  3. 4

Fringe Snippets #4 - Chloe Petts

On episode four I'm joined by CHLOE PETTS, who is having an excellent Fringe so far with sold-out shows across the board. Just before she headed to the festival, we chatted about her incredible debut year, bringing laughs to gender discourse, and getting opportunities to expand her football fandom. Chloe's song choices are: The Overload - Yard Act You're Gorgeous - Babybird All The Tired Horses - Lisa O'Neill --- Chloe Petts: If You Can't Say Anything Nice, Pleasance Courtyard Above, until Aug 13, Aug 15-27 and then on tour. chloepetts.org

Fringe Snippets #3 - Paul Chowdhry

Award-winning comedian and host of a proper podcast PAUL CHOWDHRY is my third guest. He makes his highly anticipated return to the Fringe this month - his first full month run in 11 years - with his hit tour show Family Friendly Comedian*’. We chat about the show, how the comedy world has changed in the quarter of a century Paul has been performing, and he shares his Martin Lewis-esque money saving tip for the Fringe... Paul's song choices are: • The Wizard - Black Sabbath • Rock 'n' Roll Star - Oasis • S.O.S. - Abba --- Paul Chowdhry: Family-Friendly Comedian*, Pleasance Courtyard, Cabaret Bar, Aug 2-13, 15-28, Tickets here.

Fringe Snippets #2 - Rhiannon Shaw

My second guest on the pilot show was RHIANNON SHAW, who is debuting at the Fringe this year with her show WEDDING NIGHT. It's an immersive version of her upcoming actual real-life wedding, with a mix of characters and stand-up. The aforementioned real-life wedding actually takes place just one month after the festival! We chat about the show, weddings in general, Taylor Swift, and what influenced her love of character comedy. Rhiannon's song choices were: • Best of My Love - The Emotions • Timeless (Taylor's Version) (From The Vault) - Taylor Swift • Unchained Melody - The Righteous Brothers --- Rhiannon Shaw: Wedding Night, Bedlam Theatre, August 15-27 (not 21). Tickets here.

Fringe Snippets #1 - Ruby McCollister

I promised myself I'd never get into Podcasting™ but alas here I am. For my radio show on Pulse 98.4 I've chatted to some of the finest comedy talents coming to the Edinburgh Fringe and got them to pick three songs each. Starting big with the first episode - my guest is coming all the way from NYC for the festival. Actress and comedian RUBY MCCOLLISTER makes her highly anticipated UK debut with TRAGEDY, which explores her lifelong addiction to making her life as tragic as possible... Her song picks are: • Unfinished Sympathy - Massive Attack • Jerusalem - Sinead O'Connor • I'm Just Ken - Ryan Gosling • Why Should I Love You - Kate Bush (Yes, controversially the first guest got four picks...) --- Ruby McCollister: Tragedy, Underbelly, Cowgate (Belly Dancer), Aug 3-14, 16-27, 5:45pm. Tickets here.
