My guest is Roger Furrer, General Manager of Golf Club Lucerne and former professional golfer, who shares insights from both his competitive career and his experience leading one of Switzerland’s respected golf clubs. We begin by looking at how golf in Switzerland has evolved from being seen as an exclusive pastime to becoming a more accessible leisure activity. The sport experienced a noticeable surge in interest, attracting many new and younger players. Today Switzerland has around 100,000 golfers and roughly 100 courses, giving the sport fresh momentum.A key theme in our conversation is how the image of golf is changing. Sven Spiess - Managing Family Wealth in a Changing Financial World

Send us Fan MailIn this episode, I speak with Sven Spiess, a highly experienced finance professional with a background at institutions such as Morgan Stanley and Citibank, about the profound changes reshaping the banking industry, particularly in Switzerland currently heading a The Family Office in Zurich. We explore how automation and efficiency gains are transforming banking in ways similar to the industrial automation wave of the 1970s. Sven shares his perspective on rising inflation, global economic pressure, and why recent banking failures, including Credit Suisse, were driven more by liquidity issues than by a lack of capital. His insights highlight how risk management and liquidity discipline have become critical in today’s volatile financial environment. The conversation then shifts to the human side of finance. Sven emphasizes that emotional intelligence and trust remain essential, especially in wealth management and family office settings. As generational wealth transfers accelerate, understanding clients’ values and long-term goals is just as important as financial expertise. We also discuss the growing role of family offices as client-centric alternatives to traditional banks, offering greater alignment and fewer conflicts of interest. Finally, Sven shares his view on artificial intelligence in finance—seeing it as a powerful tool to enhance efficiency, but not a replacement for human judgment and relationships. The episode concludes with a forward-looking view on the future of banking, where success will depend on balancing technology, expertise, and trust. How do today’s leaders cut through the noise and shape the future? In each episode of From Noise to Sound, host Dr. Dimitrios Marinos, from the Department of Marketing and Communication at HSLU, dives deep with CEOs, Board Members, and industry innovators to uncover the forces reshaping our world.

Zum Abschluss richtet Denise einen klaren Appell an Führungskräfte und Organisationen: Wer langfristig erfolgreich sein will, muss sich aktiv mit technologischeHow do today’s leaders cut through the noise and shape the future? In each episode of From Noise to Sound, host Dr. Dimitrios Marinos, from the Department of Marketing and Communication at HSLU, dives deep with CEOs, Board Members, and industry innovators to uncover the forces reshaping our world. Lazo Blagojevic - Alpha Aura Turning Sweat into a Smart Business Idea

Send us Fan MailIn this episode of From Noise to Sound, host Dimitrios Marinos talks with Lazo Blagojevic, co-founder of Alpha Aura, about an innovative product born from a simple but universal problem: poor hygiene in gyms. The discussion is part of “Entrepreneurship December,” highlighting ventures that make an impact beyond the tech and AI world. Lazo explains how the idea came from his personal gym experience, where using a single towel for different surfaces felt unhygienic, especially since gym machines can contain up to 300 times more bacteria than a toilet seat. Together with his co-founder Tina, he designed a microfiber towel with color-coded zones, allowing users to intuitively separate which side to use for the face, body, or equipment. The material is light, quick-drying, sustainable, and saves space compared to traditional cotton towels. The product’s name, Alpha Aura, symbolizes strength and positive energy, echoing the modern gym lifestyle where fitness represents health, discipline, and community. Beyond function, Alpha Aura also carries a social mission: each personalized towel embroidered with a customer’s name or handle is crafted in collaboration with a Swiss foundation employing people with disabilities, combining entrepreneurship with social impact. Dimitrios and Lazo emphasize that even small products can drive meaningful change by merging hygiene, ecology, and inclusivity. They also discuss future plans to expand Alpha Aura’s concept to other fitness accessories such as yoga mats or gym bags, maintaining the same core values. The towels are available online at www.alpha-aura.ch in three color combinations and through select retail partners. The episode closes with the message that innovation doesn’t always require advanced technology; sometimes, true creativity lies in rethinking everyday objects to solve real problems and improve people’s lives, one simple towel at a time. Lukas Bigler - The Hidden Strength Driving Switzerland’s Economy

Send us Fan MailIn this episode of Noise to Sound, host Dimitrios Marinos sits down with Lukas Bigler, Head of Small and Medium Enterprises at Swisscom, to explore how Swiss SMEs are shaping the country’s economic and digital future. Representing 97% of all businesses in Switzerland, SMEs are the backbone of the national economy  agile, innovative, and deeply rooted in local values.Bigler explains that the ownership structure of many Swiss SMEs enables faster decision-making and greater flexibility than large corporations, allowing them to innovate and adapt quickly. Many operate in highly specialized niches, yet compete successfully on the global stage, embodying Swiss quality and precision. The discussion turns to key challenges facing SMEs today: geopolitical uncertainty, rising labor costs, and the urgent need to embrace technology and artificial intelligence. On the topic of talent, Bigler observes a major shift. While SMEs once struggled to attract skilled professionals, consolidation in larger firms has released new talent into the market a valuable opportunity for growth-oriented SMEs.  In contrast, forward-looking firms are bringing in younger talent, fostering innovation, and embracing digital transformation.Bigler also discusses Swisscom’s strategic role as a trusted partner for SMEs. He emphasizes the company’s focus on data sovereignty, reliability, and local proximity, positioning Swisscom as both a technology provider and a critical national infrastructure partner. Trust, he notes, is the foundation of every successful digital transformation journey. The conversation touches on the balance between data protection and innovation. Switzerland must safeguard its data, Bigler says, but also remain open to global collaboration. A hybrid approach allows SMEs to determine which business elements should remain local and which can be optimized through international partnerships. As the episode concludes, Bigler reflects on leadership, purpose, and adaptability. He stresses that passion, empathy, and curiosity are essential qualities for both entrepreneurs and young professionals. Elena Sachs - Finding Real Connection in a World of Endless Swipes

Send us Fan MailIn this episode of Noise to Sound, I sit down with Elena Sachs, an expert in urban social dynamics, to explore one of Zurich’s least-discussed challenges , why finding meaningful connection in one of Europe’s most vibrant cities can feel so difficult.Zurich is known for its innovation, financial power, and quality of life  , yet many people describe its social and dating scene as cold, reserved, and frustrating. Together with Elena, we dive into the modern relationship landscape and unpack what many are calling a “silent dating crisis.”We look at how technology, work culture, and societal shifts have changed the way we meet and connect. Dating apps promised to make love easier, but instead have created a paradox of choice  , too many options, unclear intentions, and a fatigue that leaves many singles burned out. Elena shares how many people are now rethinking their approach, returning to offline matchmaking and curated social events to find deeper, more authentic relationships. Our conversation touches on mental health and loneliness, not just among young professionals but across all age groups, including those seeking companionship later in life. We explore how work-life balance, long hours, and the pressure of city living make it harder to form genuine bonds  , and why this matters far beyond romance.Elena also shares her perspective on values over checklists , why shared life goals and compatibility matter more than superficial criteria. Together, we reflect on what truly creates lasting partnerships and why the human element  , empathy, communication, and authenticity  , will always matter more than any algorithm. Finally, we discuss the future of dating in Switzerland: Will technology continue to dominate, or will there be a counter-movement toward more human, spontaneous ways of connecting? Elena believes that even in a digital age, the desire for real connection will drive people back to community, shared experiences, and deeper relationships.Whether you’re single, partnered, or simply interested in how technology shapes human connection, this episode offers a thoughtful and sometimes provocative look at how we date, love, and seek belonging in a modern urban world. It’s a conversation that blends sociology, psychology, and personal reflection , and might just inspire you to rethink how you approach connection in your own life. #Season2 - Dimitrios Marinos : Making the Mistakes Right

Send us Fan MailIn this inaugural episode of the second season of Noise to Sound, I reflect on the unexpected journey that has brought this podcast to its current milestone. Initially, when I embarked on this project, my expectations were modest; I aimed to produce a year-long series of episodes, hoping just to reach a small audience. However, nearly a year later, I've been thrilled to see over a thousand listeners engage with the content from over 20 countries across three continents. It is both humbling and exciting to connect with such a diverse and curious audience, from students to professionals and even the elderly. Throughout this past year, I have received heartfelt feedback indicating that my discussions have resonated with listeners, many of whom have shared their personal stories and reflections in response to episodes. Each message of gratitude has further fueled my passion for this project, reinforcing the sense of fulfillment I experience when I hear how these conversations have impacted others. The format of the podcast has evolved differently from traditional approaches; I’ve chosen to focus on a variety of topics rather than adhering to a single theme each month. This structure allows listeners to dip in and out of episodes that pique their interest, creating a more engaging experience. While I acknowledge that I may have strayed from conventional podcasting practices, I believe this approach has been a successful blueprint for maintaining listener engagement and curiosity.Throughout the first season, I had the honor of hosting an array of remarkable guests, from entrepreneurs to healthcare professionals, each sharing unique insights and transformative experiences.  The stories shared by my guests, ranging from those who made significant shifts in their careers to professionals innovating in their fields, provided the inspiration that I believe connects us all in our shared human experience. As we transition into the second season, there are exciting developments on the horizon. The podcast will undergo a rebranding effort and expand its online presence through enhanced content shared on social media platforms like LinkedIn and Instagram, facilitating more dynamic interactions with our audience.  It is my hope that as we continue, each episode will evoke curiosity, inspire reflection, and foster a community of engaged listeners eager to explore the realms of knowledge and experience together. I encourage you all to interact and provide feedback as we embark on this new chapter, ensuring that this podcast remaiHow do today’s leaders cut through the noise and shape the future? In each episode of From Noise to Sound, host Dr. Dimitrios Marinos, from the Department of Marketing and Communication at HSLU, dives deep with CEOs, Board Members, and industry innovators to uncover the forces reshaping our world. Vanessa Foser : Love It, Change It, or Leave It, strive for conscious Leadership

Send us Fan MailIn this thought-provoking podcast, Vanessa Foser—a C-level executive, AI strategist, and leadership coach—shares insights into digital transformation, leadership, and the power of purposeful networking.  Vanessa begins by identifying a common challenge among executives: not just a fear of missing out (FOMO), but a deeper fear of making the wrong choice in a rapidly evolving tech landscape—what she calls FOBO (Fear of Better Options). She explains that this hesitation often leads companies to delay critical innovation steps, which ultimately becomes costlier than taking calculated risks.A core theme of the conversation is that digital transformation is not just about tools—it’s about people. The major obstacles aren’t technical, but cultural: lack of trust, unclear communication, and resistance to change. Vanessa stresses that empowering teams with knowledge—what she calls “swarm intelligence”—creates alignment and unlocks internal innovation. When people understand the purpose behind technology, they use it better and more responsibly. She provides real-world examples of AI implementations gone wrong, such as poor communication bots or automation missteps that damaged customer relationships. These failures often stem from applying AI without proper training or human context, underlining Vanessa’s belief that leaders must consciously decide what to automate—and what must remain human. An important part of the discussion focuses on networking and leadership visibility, particularly for women. Vanessa outlines three core principles: preparation, authenticity, and purpose. She encourages approaching networking with curiosity and clarity—understanding who you’re meeting, being genuine, and having a reason to connect. She also offers strategic advice, such as preferring lunch meetings over dinners to maintain professional boundaries and avoid social ambiguity.Vanessa also highlights the importance of mentorship and sponsorship in advancing women’s careers. While policies on diversity are necessary, real change happens when individuals within organizations take active steps to support and advocate for others. Her personal mantra—"Love it, change it, or leave it"—sums up her philosophy: be clear on your values and make conscious decisions about where and how you work. For Vanessa, true leadership is about clarity, confidence, and aligned action. Silvia Fernández Biesa - When Hormones Disrupt Work: The Untold Story of Menopause

Send us Fan MailIn this episode, I engage in an important discussion about menopause—a topic often left unspoken and misunderstood, especially in professional settings. My guest is Silvia Fernandez, a psychiatrist specializing in mental health and estrogen-related challenges at work. Together, we examine how menopause affects women psychologically, and why it matters to both individuals and organizations.Silvia explains the three phases: pre-menopause, menopause, and post-menopause. We explore the emotional shifts women experience, especially during perimenopause, when hormonal fluctuations can lead to mood swings, anxiety, and confusion—often intensified by life pressures like aging parents or teenage children. These psychosocial effects are just as crucial as physical symptoms. We highlight the stigma that keeps menopause in the shadows, even though nearly 10% of women aged 40–60 leave their jobs due to related challenges. This signals a major loss of experience for companies that ignore the issue. Awareness and open dialogue—among women, their partners, and employers—are vital to change this.Silvia stresses the value of vulnerability.
