On this episode of From The Wheelhouse, we had the pleasure of having our longtime friend Capt. Joe Vonthron. In this episode we talk about his favorite memories working on the party boats in Mayport. Joe then went on to working on a long range fishing boat in San Diego. Now he finds himself running boats in Venice, Louisiana,  catching giant tuna, swordfish, and wahoo. He also spends his winters commercial bluefin tuna fishing in North Carolina. Joe has created a successful YouTube channel documenting all fishing ventures and we are lucky to get to hear a lot that Joe has gotten to experience. 

Roland, Joe, and Oz introduce themselves and tell the story about how they met and how they got to where they are now. They also talk about the idea of this podcast: a different perspective on the commercial fishing, the captains behind the wheel and crew behind the reels. This is the beginning of a series of untold stories only heard by the crashing waves of the ocean and the fiberglass walls of a wheelhouse.
