She sounds AMAZING: so vibrant and clear and, and - and she's so EASY TO USE I CAN'T BELIEVE IT---! I can actually focus on making music instead of fighting the vocals! The future is here and I LOVE IT. ...so, once I heard of the song contest I just knew I had to participate. Yeah, the chances of me winning are so-so (Seriously, go listen to all the entries, I guarantee you won't regret it! So much good stuff, man.) but the idea of winning the full version of SOLARIA when the Lite is so GOOD already was too damn tempting...like, why the heck would I NOT participate??? Well, a word about the song: with the midsummer approaching, I wanted to make something folks-y! I wanted it to be something you could dance to, too (and tbh, I've always wanted to try and compose for the accordion!)As for the illustration - I hope I got it right! This was my first time painting SOLARIA...I wanted to give her a bit of a tan to reflect the summer season and her sun motif. "N-O-I-S-E" Whew, this one took its sweet time! I'm still not quite happy with the harmonies or the tuning in some parts (It was impossible for me to hear the harmonies!) but I hope you'll be able to use the ust in spite of my incompetence. I'm proud of the N-O-I-S-E part, though! Fun fact: NOISE was one of the first MEIKO songs I ever heard and I'm grateful to Mijipin-P for that! I can only hope Irina and I did their song justice... It is a (private, non-native) Japanese CVVC bank with 3+1 pitches (A3, D4 G4 + neutral C5 for faux falsetto)and a solid tone, all recorded in OREMO. The bank utilizes the same reclist as the CORE bank (by Yukito Yuki w/ some small modifications by yours truly). I had a lot of fun with this cover - and I finished it in record time, too! Maybe this bank is easy to use...? Well, at least the falsetto is a ton of fun! Okay, so - long story short, I managed to persuade my best friend, who happens to possess a lovely low register, to record a voicebank. Afterwards, one of the first thing she asked was if we could duet magnet - and who was I to say no? And so, this is the result! My friend named her UTAU OC Eliel, though she has not yet decided on a design - but I'll make sure to draw them when the time comes! The voicebank is of the monopitch Japanese (non-native) CVVC variety, recorded in E3 in OREMO (there may or may not be more pitches in the future). The reclist utilized is Yukito Yuki's Minimal Japanese two-mora CVVC reclist. The OTO was configured by me. So, what do you think? My mixing doesn't do justice to the voicebank (this is my first time mixing in LMMS), but hopefully they sound nice! (They are a private bank, btw.) It's not perfect by any means - there are a few sour notes and rhythmic hiccups - but for now at least, I'm feeling pretty proud. And I absolutely loved making the harmonies! This is my first time using a kire and a screamo bank, too...it's been pretty fun, I'd say! I really enjoyed trying to make Ritsu mimic voice breaks and Maiko growl in English (btw, I don't know the official lyrics for the rap/screamo part, so I had to improvise it - sorry!) By the way, I never really got into Venus Versus Virus anime (except for this OP, that is; I still love it, even after all these years!) but I do own the manga - it's pretty good! It's just...well, it all started when I decided to add some light growls here and there to give the vocals some texture. However, when I imported the raw vocals into Audacity, the program ate the growls for some reason. So, I had to switch software! Eventually, I settled for the FL Studio 12 demo, which fortunately didn't eat the growls! (But in the end, I had to use Audacity anyway to cut the silent tail of the audio, as I have no idea how to do it in FL.) Furthermore, I had to make the vocals pretty loud in order to hear the growls, which made the vocals not sit that well in the overall mix. And even then, the growls are barely audible in some parts without headphones! But then again, I didn't want the growls to be too loud, as their purpose was to only add slight texture... ...yeah, mixing is one balancing act I have no idea how to do.
