Can anyone become a writer, or is it something that's wired in our DNA? There are two main factors that determine if you can be a successful fiction writer, and I'll tell you all about them! (Hint: it doesn't matter how well you did in your High School English class)!

I would say Harry Potter really kicked off the debate whether Christians should entertain the fantasy genre. Does it promote the occult? Can it uphold biblical principles? Here I discuss the history of the fantasy genre, some recent trends, and what Christian readers and writers should consider about the genre.

There's a difference between mean and constructive feedback, but I find too many editors out there are giving soft, unhelpful feedback. There are a few reasons for this that concern writers and editors. Do you think book editors need to stop tiptoeing, especially for indie authors?

Generative AI is everywhere. Some people find it exciting, but it makes many artists and writers nervous and angry. Many businessmen have told me that embracing generative AI is the future, but is it a future we want?

There's been some talk about books not being as good as they once were, and I have an idea of why this is. It boils down to three main reasons.

A writer's biggest enemy is often themselves! When perfectionism and the inner critic are a little too loud, it can keep us from sharing our work. This one thing I learned helped me tame my inner critic, and hopefully it'll help you, too!

Many writers start off their stories with a message in mind, but then it often comes across as preachy. You don't have to sacrifice (and you shouldn't) the story for the message--and here are some helpful tips on avoiding lecturing your audience!
