There are two ditches on the road to making a film.    To the right, cringe–dominated by a desire for the audience to leave with Scripture-level clarity on the big questions of life. No effort put into helping them come to these conclusions themselves. Sheer, preachy craftlessness.   To the left, fartistry–dominated by self-importance and an obsession with being taken seriously by depicting the darker things of the fallen world. Raw, toothless self-indulgence.   Creative maturity means avoiding either extreme.   Which ditch do you favor?
