Step Up or Step Down - Rylee Abt
Script - Welcome everyone to the podcast Grading and Graders the mediocratie of grading. The subtitle name of the episode: step up or step down. welcome everyone im your co host Rylee Abt. We will be discussing whether teachers need to get their shit together or leave the position they are in.So we all agree that teachers are the main connection between students and the outside world. Kids wouldn't learn the skill they need to have their shit together without going to school. They teach you life skills sometimes. I just finished high school like all of 6 months ago so i have a pretty fresh accurate representation of what goes on. Let me tell you not enough. Not even close to what should be happening. Teachers are so worried they won't be able to pass all their stupid pointless tests that they cram it down your throat and hope that you can understand. Then when you don't do well they blame it on you saying that you didn't study hard enough. I think teachers are missing the main point of why they are put into these positions. I believe that they are supposed to teach you yes but they are also there for you as a person outside of your home life. Most are missing this part. I get it. They are hired to do the course but they need to be more than that and they don't get it. They need to step up. Teachers are a huge part of young people's lives and they are too busy spotting random stuff to stop and realize. Thank you for listening to me and the facts behind this. Students need guidance, they need an outside source, they need help, pretty basic stuff but this seems to be the most challenging thing when it should come naturally and rather easy. Teachers being important to provide an education and impact full knowledge is what stops them from doing the other stuff well. The education dont stop in the classroom. Teachers need to be there for you in the classroom and outside the classroom. Yah they grade things and break you down but they also need to be able to bring you back up by showing you yah you fucked up here but this isn’t the end this is were it starts.

Education Isn't Easy - Xuanhang Hou
Key point #1: The process of learning isn’t easy. The way of improving learning efficiency is to stop feeling anxious when you feel confused. Then repeat the whole project again.● Supporting point: Improving the speed of learning will stimulate people to think more actively.● Supporting data:OCD is from anxiety. So, people will feel anxious when they don’t have solutions. OCD lets people repeat one thing many times because they want to make sure that their works are 100 percent correct.● Supporting quote:I will use the citation from an essay which I prepared. I will use the MLA citation mark to support my work.● “Obsessions are repetitive and persistent thoughts, images, impulses or urges that are intrusive and unwanted, and are commonly associated with anxiety.”(Dan J. Stein 1st Introduction part.)● cited:( Stein, DanJ. Lochner, Christine. Costa, Daniel L.C. and etc. Obsessive-compulsive disorder. Stein, D.J., Costa, D.L.C., Lochner, C. et al. 01 August 2019.) Key point #2: The process of learning isn’t easy. Confidence affects the learning process.● Supporting point: Students’ working efficiency will be influenced by their grades. If more students will not be influenced by the grading system, they can be more confident.● Supporting data:Students’ learning passion is decided by their confidence in some parts.● Supporting quote:I may use the quote from the material which is from an article. Or use my materials by using MLA format citations.● “When combined with the common practice of grade averaging, a single zero can have a devastating effect on a student’s percentage grade. The student’s overall course grade is unfairly skewed by that one, atypical low score.” (Thomas R.Geskey 71).● cited:(R.Geskey Thomas. The Case Against Percentage Grades. University of Kentucky, Thomas R. Guskey. Published in Education Leadership, v.71, issue 1, p.68-72. 9-2013.)Key point #3: critical thinking is important during study.▶ Duration: (0:00–1:00)● Supporting point:Critical thinking is a kind of brainstorm, which stimulates students to think more during learning. Then the studying efficiency can be improved.● Supporting data:Students think of many counterparts of one question. Then their active thoughts may stimulate them to get solutions sooner.● Supporting quote: I will use the material which is from an article which explains the advantages of critical thinking by using MLA format citation.● “Brainstorming has been the go-to technique for creative problem solving.”(Gobble, MaryAnne M. 60)● cited:(MaryAnne M, Globble. Beyond Brainstorming, Research-Technology Management, 28 Dec 2015.)Episode summary:There are many ways to improve studying efficiency. During the learning process, there are many materials which we need to learn. So, the learning efficiency is very important to us to catch up on all the knowledge.
