14: Holidays as a Freelancer and How to Prepare for Them

In this episode, I discuss the challenges of taking a holiday as a freelancer. I share my personal experiences, including my definition of a vacation as spending at least five days completely unplugged from work. I also explore the financial and client commitment scarcity that often accompanies time off as a freelancer and offer solutions, such as setting up service packages with clients to ensure payment during vacation time. I present evidence that time off work can actually improve productivity and creativity. And, finally, I wrap up the episode with tips and tricks for preparing for a holiday and actually unplugging, including telling clients in advance, budgeting in advance, and starting small. 13: What are my best productivity tips?

In this episode, I share my best productivity tips to help you stay focused and productive throughout the day. I start by talking about how I prepare for the week ahead by creating a list of personal and professional tasks to tackle on Sunday nights. I then discuss how I use time-blocking on Google Calendar to manage my schedule, including important tasks, emails, and even walks. I explain that I prefer to keep my calendar simple by only colour-coding my meetings, while keeping all of my tasks-related items in another color. I also share that I only arrange three days at a time to leave my CEO day on Friday open to things I did not get to do before, which makes it less stressful to see my schedule on the calendar. I emphasise the importance of being mindful of my own energy levels throughout the day and scheduling my tasks accordingly. For example, I feel more mentally present in the morning, so I try to add a time block every single morning for writing. In the afternoon, when I feel a little less present or more tired, I usually focus on designing or managing our Notion management boards. I also talk about how I use tools like Notion to help me stay organized and manage my team's priorities, including adding deadlines for each team member. Finally, I provide some tips on how to manage phone and notification distractions to help you stay focused on your work. In this episode, I share the 5 things I wish I knew before starting as a freelancer and later starting my own business. 11: My Worst Client Story

In this episode, I share my worst client story from my freelance career, which turned out to be a valuable learning experience. However, the project suffered from a lack of communication, unclear branding guidelines, and assumptions. I took on the project while already feeling burnt out and did not set clear boundaries or communicate my holiday plans effectively. Overall, this episode serves as a cautionary tale for freelancers and contractors to avoid similar challenges in their work. It's essential to communicate effectively with clients, set clear boundaries, and trust your instincts. I hope that my experience can help you learn from my mistakes and improve your freelance career. 8: Why Side Jobs Are So Important For You And What I Have Learned From Them.

In this week's episode, I discuss the importance of side/student jobs and share a LOT of my past job experiences, highlighting the soft skills I have developed alongside them. These experiences have taught me a lot about the work environment, people, and myself. I mention my experience as a babysitter even though I kinda hate kids, working as a sales assistant in two retail stores in Paris, working for VIPs at a very famous festival as well, and joining an incredible skincare company to improve their customer service experience. If you are in a position where you don't know where to go next, I suggest looking back at what you've already done and seeing what you've loved from those experiences and would like to reproduce in your upcoming job. I recommend taking inventory of your own work experiences, seeing what you've learned from them, and what you've liked and disliked. Don’t hesitate to DM me on the show’s Instagram account (link below) if you’re having any difficulty deciding which career to pursue online.
