Why appearance is actually so important (probably not in the way you're thinking)

Appearance is much more important than we think, but not in the way you probably are thinking.Knowing how to portray yourself on the outside can change not only the opportunities you receive, but it can be a method to alter your own mindset, to trick yourself into thinking or acting in a way that will lead you to your goals and dreams.💭 This week’s questions:- How are you guys working on opening your mind to different opinions?- Have you ever done a personal color and personal body style analysis?- Have you had freeze dried instant coffee before?- What have you been working on for yourself? And also, here's the link to subscribe to my newsletter!https://nadiaxcoffee.beehiiv.com/---I hope you can find the segments we go through to ignite some sort of softness, playfulness, hopefulness, and kindness in our lives.Timestamps:0:00 find your style1:55 intro and new hair (again)3:16 we gain more fears the older we get 3:38 why I'm doing experimentation work after my cafe4:04 personal color and personal style analysis 4:33 brewing freeze dried coffee (feat. What do we do when two worlds collide?

When different worlds come together, it's often more shocking and uncomfortable than welcoming. And having interests in a variety of things, and building upon those passions is never a bad thing, for each topic, each field will teach us something new about the world and eventually about ourselves.Today, I talked in great detail about the anime I watched while sick, the coffee hand drip method that has a bit of a history in general and for myself, and more on languages as explained by some musings I wrote in some college magazines years ago.☕ Today’s coffee: Floating Colors - one of my favorite blends I created (the fall blend) that combines the nuttiness of Costa Rica and the ever so slight floral aspects of Ethiopian coffee brewed with the flannel cloth.💭 This week’s questions:- What do you watch when you're sick?- What's something you hold dear to you that you know that because you've learned about it has changed your life? When the translation just doesn't work

Connection and peace—sometimes that's what I think that's all we're searching for daily. In this episode of Half Bloom, I’m coming back in a more casual, unedited way—just me on my veranda, brewing coffee, and letting my thoughts land where they land. I share a bit of closing my cafe, maybe not the full personal story, but the real shift underneath it—how I never wanted coffee to feel like competition, and how I’m trying to return to coffee as connection. Then we go deeper into the season I’m in right now:What does it look like to rebuild your mind after living in survival mode? Why do I feel both obsessed with languages and afraid of them? And why can’t “learning more words” fix the fact that everyone still speaks their own emotional language?I've been obsessed with the new Netflix K-drama Can This Love Be Translated?, so to relay my thoughts regarding it, I wrote a journal entry and read it to you on this episode on the fear + love of translation, and reflect on how language, identity, and relationships are way more tangled than we think. And because I needed something concrete to hold onto, I share the one thing I’m choosing again: reading—how books saved me as a kid, and how they’re saving me again now. (Including a quick takeaway from Be Your Future Self.)☕ Today’s coffee: Come to Rest “Oh Rosie” blend—strawberry-forward when hot, rose tea as it cools. The perfect amount of intensity, balanced and comforting.💭 This week’s questions:Where in your life do you feel like you’re stuck “translating” yourself to be understood? What would peace look like for you this year—like, practically? What’s one struggle you’ve had while learning a language? If you’re in a reset season too, I hope this episode feels like a soft place to sit—and a reminder that it's necessary to alter and rewire our brains againAnd also, here's the link to subscribe to my newsletter!https://nadiaxcoffee.beehiiv.com/_____________________I hope you can find the segments we go through to ignite some sort of softness, playfulness, hopefulness, and kindness in our lives.Timestamps:0:00 intro0:59 after closing down my cafe2:49 let's brew some coffee (feat. come to rest)5:57 going to cafes--should I do cafe tours?6:50 learning about myself and finding peace9:01 back to the coffee flavor notes real quick9:30 talking about "can this love be translated?" and my deep thoughts on languages and communication13:21 reading my journal entry post on my thoughts of the drama (on substack so feel free to follow along: https://nadiaxcoffee.substack.com/p/fear-of-languages-of-translation)18:20 reflections and motivations stemming from the drama (connections, reading) 19:56 story on how books saved my life 23:43 books I'm reading (be your future self now, breast and eggs, sekai kara neko ga kieta nara) and the life lessons I've gotten from them31:41 ending thoughts and questions for you_____________________See you all next week!Listen to my podcast 🎤RSS feed: https://feeds.buzzsprout.com/2500904.rssApple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/half-bloom/id1814881168Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/4G80fRB2kH3OtJzdrkboOJFind me on other socials ^^Instagram: [www.instagram.com/nadiaxcoffee](http://www.instagram.com/nadiaxcoffee)Substack: https://nadiaxcoffee.substack.com/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@nadiaxcoffeeAnd also, here's the link to subscribe to my newsletter!https://nadiaxcoffee.beehiiv.com/for happiness, alwaysSincerely, Nadia

How to play with your burnout

Words are powerful—but the labels we put on ourselves can keep us trapped. In last week’s episode, I talked about laziness. Today, we go deeper into burnout:What’s the real difference between being unmotivated vs. being burnt out?How do labels like “lazy,” “sensitive,” or “negative” feed the cycle? And is it even possible to recover when you feel completely drained? In this episode, I share personal reflections, some lighthearted stories from my café, and real listener notes from the Story Jar. Together, we’ll explore how to recognize burnout, how to question the labels we use, and small ways we can begin to refill our energy tank without shame or guilt.☕ Today’s coffee: A simple but special iced au lait, brewed with flannel drip and frozen as coffee ice. Smooth, chocolaty, and buttery—just the kind of comfort drink for a heavy topic.💭 Some of this week’s reflection questions:When you label yourself as “lazy” or “burnt out,” what are you really feeling underneath—fear, exhaustion, boredom, loneliness? If you had unlimited energy tomorrow, what’s the first thing you’d do?What did you actually do today? Did any of it align with your dream?📌 Whether you’re feeling stuck, uninspired, or completely burnt out, I hope this episode gives you clarity, compassion, and a reminder that you’re not alone. And also, here's the link to subscribe to my newsletter!https://nadiaxcoffee.beehiiv.com/_____________________I hope you can find the segments we go through to ignite some sort of softness, playfulness, hopefulness, and kindness in our lives.Timestamps:0:00 intro2:32 coffee of the day: hand drip au lait3:42 crazy hair day + fun ways adults play (new photo gallery event happening at Coffee Mate for happiness!)7:17 understanding burnout and different ways we can get to know it better8:55 how labels can hurt you11:48 questions to ask yourself when you think you're burnt out or you don't have any motivation16:30 some potential mindsets to adapt for burnout19:49 story jar time (feat. a wedding, becoming an adult with dreams)25:51 leaving questions_____________________See you all next week!for happiness, alwaysSincerely, NadiaListen to my podcast 🎤RSS feed: https://feeds.buzzsprout.com/2500904.rssApple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/half-bloom/id1814881168Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/4G80fRB2kH3OtJzdrkboOJLet's be friends ^^Instagram: instagram.com/nadiaxcoffeeYouTube: youtube.com/@UCeLi0U-aR3yZBZNnOLA2Teg for happiness, alwaysSincerely, NadiaFind me on other socials ^^Instagram: [www.instagram.com/nadiaxcoffee](http://www.instagram.com/nadiaxcoffee)Substack: https://nadiaxcoffee.substack.com/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@nadiaxcoffeeAnd also, here's the link to subscribe to my newsletter!https://nadiaxcoffee.beehiiv.com/for happiness, alwaysSincerely, Nadia

Why you're *lazy* and how to stop

Are we actually lazy—or do we just lack a reason to move? In this episode, I unpack the real causes behind so-called “laziness,” from perfectionism and fear of failure to losing sight of your ‘why.’ I share personal stories from my coffee journey, lessons from my dad’s work ethic, and how play, experimentation, and self-acceptance can reignite your drive. How forced breaks can change your mindset

Hi friends :)In this episode, I talk about how going through a forced break (in my case a hospitalization) allowed me to rethink what's important to me and what I needed to direct my attention and energy. When we're so busy with life, we forget what's important but not urgent. And we get so good at protecting ourselves, we lose what can actually make us stronger. I hope you can find a moment to give yourself a pause in between your life before having to undergo a huge pause like I had to to realize certain things that were holding me back. And also, here's the link to my newsletter that will be coming soon!https://nadiaxcoffee.beehiiv.com/_____________________I hope you can find the segments we go through to ignite some sort of softness, playfulness, hopefulness, and kindness in our lives.Timestamps:0:00 intro0:52 being stuck in a hospital4:05 what forced breaks do to you6:44 update on *new* newsletter7:50 story jar from this past week13:20 on defensive deflection18:55 leaving questions_____________________See you all next week!for happiness, alwaysSincerely, NadiaListen to my podcast 🎤RSS feed: https://feeds.buzzsprout.com/2500904.rssApple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/half-bloom/id1814881168Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/4G80fRB2kH3OtJzdrkboOJLet's be friends ^^Instagram: instagram.com/nadiaxcoffeeYouTube: youtube.com/@UCeLi0U-aR3yZBZNnOLA2Teg for happiness, alwaysSincerely, NadiaFind me on other socials ^^Instagram: [www.instagram.com/nadiaxcoffee](http://www.instagram.com/nadiaxcoffee)Substack: https://nadiaxcoffee.substack.com/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@nadiaxcoffeeAnd also, here's the link to subscribe to my newsletter!https://nadiaxcoffee.beehiiv.com/for happiness, alwaysSincerely, Nadia

Run counterintuitively to find your true self

Thinking against what your primitive emotions tell you may actually lead you to the results you want. But bearing through and keeping everything within yourself, for some people in particular, is incredibly difficult. For those people, I promise you that some things need to be held deep within you, so that you can actually get what you want in life. Some things mean more when you don't always express them, and focusing on understanding what other people are going through, what they're feeling, and how they understand the world may seem annoying, but is  one way to navigate the world. And when you think you're losing everything, that may be exactly what you needed to figure out that you didn't have anything--that whatever you build from this point on is what will mean strength and become your pillar. We're all on a journey to let our true selves shine, and in the process, they need to be polished and sometimes tortured to get to a place of tranquility._____________________I hope you can find the segments we go through to ignite some sort of softness, playfulness, hopefulness, and kindness in our lives.Timestamps:0:46: Drink of the Day3:35: Cafe Update4:30: Counterintuitive10:17: Losing Followers15:53: Stories of the Week20:06: Language Moment: Hontou no Jibun15:53: Leaving Questions_____________________See you all next week!for happiness, alwaysSincerely, NadiaFind me on other socials ^^Instagram: instagram.com/nadiaxcoffeeYouTube: youtube.com/@UCeLi0U-aR3yZBZNnOLA2Teg Listen to my podcast 🎤RSS feed: https://feeds.buzzsprout.com/2500904.rssApple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/half-bloom/id1814881168Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/4G80fRB2kH3OtJzdrkboOJFind me on other socials ^^Instagram: [www.instagram.com/nadiaxcoffee](http://www.instagram.com/nadiaxcoffee)Substack: https://nadiaxcoffee.substack.com/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@nadiaxcoffeeAnd also, here's the link to subscribe to my newsletter!https://nadiaxcoffee.beehiiv.com/for happiness, alwaysSincerely, Nadia

Wander off and say I love you

We often let our minds wonder and sometimes we lose focus or concentration. When we were able to ask questions and lean into our curiosity sometimes those questions can lead to creative answers or projects. Of course, those questions are not always very helpful. Sometimes they are absolutely useless, but it’s fun to be able to discover new knowledge and find more depth in the stuff that we do.And I think that’s why the curiosity led me to wonder about how other people think and the way that language shapes our cultures, and cultures shape our languages. so I wanted to talk about a more conceptual topic on love and how we use words to relay that message, and sometimes how relaying through words is actually not as effective because of certain barriers, including language barriers._____________________I hope you can find the segments we go through to ignite some sort of softness, playfulness, hopefulness, and kindness in our lives.Timestamps:0:25: Cafe Updates1:53: Coffee of the Day3:10: Wandering Off9:41: On What is Love14:12: Expressing Love Through Languages18:20: Movie Mate Event + Leaving Questions_____________________See you all next week!for happiness, alwaysSincerely, NadiaFind me on other socials ^^Instagram: instagram.com/nadiaxcoffeeYouTube: youtube.com/@nadiaxcoffeeFind me on other socials ^^Instagram: [www.instagram.com/nadiaxcoffee](http://www.instagram.com/nadiaxcoffee)Substack: https://nadiaxcoffee.substack.com/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@nadiaxcoffeeAnd also, here's the link to subscribe to my newsletter!https://nadiaxcoffee.beehiiv.com/for happiness, alwaysSincerely, Nadia

    What are your magical moments?

Interactions between one another, and the little messages that we leave behind with one another as we pass through each others' lives, whether verbal or non-verbal, develop reactions in some sort of way. There are magic moments in our day and in our lives. The way we interact with nature, our surroundings, and also one another. We've collected a couple stories in our magic story jar that I read out today, and will touch upon other conversation starter topics in the next episodes. And because we are language geeks here, I wanted to start talking about how languages have affected me, and what roles they play in my life, and potentially give you some insight on how they exist in shaping a person's identity._____________________I hope you can find the segments we go through to ignite some sort of softness, playfulness, hopefulness, and kindness in our lives.Timestamps:0:46: Since opening Coffee Mate2:30: Coffee of the Day4:55: Magic Moment of the Day6:59: Magic Jar - Your Stories14:08: Language shapes our personalities17:57: Questions to Ponder_____________________See you next week :)Find me on other socials ^^Instagram: [www.instagram.com/nadiaxcoffee](http://www.instagram.com/nadiaxcoffee)Substack: https://nadiaxcoffee.substack.com/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@nadiaxcoffeeAnd also, here's the link to subscribe to my newsletter!https://nadiaxcoffee.beehiiv.com/for happiness, alwaysSincerely, Nadia

Leaving my own cafe: sofa to kotatsu

Building something from scratch is always good experience, but when you have expectations of yourself from others and yourself, it can easily get disheartening and confusing.Everything I had thought about this cafe turned out to be different.Everything I wanted when setting up my own cafe had its essence either covered up or hidden in other forms, that it was starting to confuse me.Our thoughts about ourselves and our dreams and aspirations are not always aligned in the most truthful way, let alone in the most efficient way. And they also change. So, dive in with me to explore the confusing bits and pieces of what it means to have realized that dreams come and go, and how to go about making sure you are learning and improving, while feeling fulfilled._____________________And for now, I hope you can find the segments we go through to ignite some sort of softness, playfulness, hopefulness, and kindness in our lives.Coffee of the dayLife lessonsStories from youLanguage momentQuestions to ponder_____________________See you next week :)Find me on other socials ^^Instagram: [www.instagram.com/nadiaxcoffee](http://www.instagram.com/nadiaxcoffee)Substack: https://nadiaxcoffee.substack.com/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@nadiaxcoffeeAnd also, here's the link to subscribe to my newsletter!https://nadiaxcoffee.beehiiv.com/for happiness, alwaysSincerely, Nadia

What happens after the first dream?

As we go through our journey of life, we use our dreams as motivators to get from step one to step two. Then from step two to step three. But what if we walk 52 steps and realize that that dream that we once had is not our dream anymore? What if that dream that we had, once accomplished, is no longer our dream? What if, that dream that we worked so hard to achieve, is only the surface level of our bigger dream? What if your true dream is hidden under the layers of dreams we put on top, whether it comes from our inner desires, or from outside? This is just the first chat to ask ourselves questions that we wouldn't normally ask, and delve into ideas and concepts that will help us navigate our journey for happiness.Find me on other socials ^^Instagram: [www.instagram.com/nadiaxcoffee](http://www.instagram.com/nadiaxcoffee)Substack: https://nadiaxcoffee.substack.com/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@nadiaxcoffeeAnd also, here's the link to subscribe to my newsletter!https://nadiaxcoffee.beehiiv.com/for happiness, alwaysSincerely, Nadia
