Black History Month: Health Equity Stories by Two Black Men
Elton Edmond and Dr. Jake Kirkland join the Health Equity Dialogue hosted by Extension Educator Emily Gratopp and Lincoln High senior Key Perreault to discuss their health equity experiences as two African American men. This Health Equity Dialogues covers topics such as advocacy, both self advocacy and advocacy on behalf of medical providers, feelings in relation to seeking medical help from machoism to fear and anxiety, and the role that health insurance plays in medical access. Elton and Dr. Kirkland call for increasing empathy, understanding and person-first care in medical settings.
