Here's What I Want
by Leslie Brooks, Alan Parsons, Tyler Quinn
Here's What I Want is the podcast that talks about what someone wants and exactly how they want it.
-
30
Roller Coaster
Lifelong brothers Jay and Patrick Cullis tell us what they want in a roller coaster. Doesn't really matter though, because Leslie is still talking about the Washington State Fair.
-
29
County Fair
Emma Pfizenmaier tells us what she wants in a county fair. Buttermilk doesn't get mentioned even once, which feels like a mistake.
-
28
Horror Movie
Josh Pearce tells us what he wants in a horror movie. Leslie and Tyler continue discussion of surprise killing Alan, who looks forward to it. Gory details all throughout this one.
-
27
Creepy Situation
Don't look now, Alan tells us what he wants in a creepy situation. We get into the psychological elements of feeling creeped out, and also learn that Tyler and Leslie don't want to go missing. Does no one want a little excitement in their lives anymore?
-
26
Ocean
What started as a joke ends up an episode as Leslie Brooks tells us what she wants in an ocean. We talk favorite oceans, prehensile toes, and where exactly Atlantis is now. Also a fairly large treatise on filter feeding. It's an episode that goes so deep James Cameron has never seen the bottom of it!
-
25
Choir Concert
King of the solo Tyler Quinn tell us what he wants in a choir concert. A spiritual sequel to the community theater episode, we talk all about the heartwarming shortcomings of amateur singers.
-
24
Pop Song
Major chord that will not be diminished Jack Martin tells us what he wants in a pop song. Hop y'all love a good bop because this track is catchy. Since everyone on this episode is at minimum a WORLD CLASS MUSICIAN you can bet we get right to heart of what makes a pop song so sugar sweet. You can also bet that Chad really flexes his gay rights on this one, Leslie reveals her synesthesia, and Tyler makes everything a musical. And also we recorded a song together and put it at the end, shhhhhh!
-
23
On Set
Jean genie and multi-disciplinary decorator Matt Lask tells us what he wants on set. He puts behind the scenes under the lights, on your mind, and in your ears. Chad is excited to meet someone who knows actual Teamsters, a group of people he's always wondered about but never been certain of their actual existence. Tyler is a pro on set from his days as an extra, while Leslie wonders if she can stop by for dinner.
-
22
CW Teen Drama
Purveyor of content Liz Hull tells us what she wants in a CW Teen Drama. The best thing about it? No guilt here! Give us the trash! Chad learns a bit more about what makes a strong eyebrow, Tyler nearly dated someone who dated someone who was nearly famous, and Leslie makes the best pitch for a new TV show anyone in the writer's room has ever heard. Also we're all in our 30's playing high schoolers, just as it should be.
-
21
Shoes
Local father Michael Fetters takes a seat in the Content Basement to tell us what he wants in Shoes. Thanks are to our natural philosophical musing, which is just something we do, is just how we are, we learn way more than feet are wrapped up in your shoes. But we also learn that, at least if you're a Fetters, way fewer of your toenails are wrapped up in your shoes than other people might guess. It's all over the map tonight.

Town I'm Passing Through
Often recognized as the guy who recently deadlifted more than 200 lbs., local podcast host Alan Parsons tells us what he wants in a town he's passing through. The gang goes guest-free to prove to everyone (Editor's note: likely less than 20 people) that they can still make the magic on their own. We start breezy but be warned: Things get introspective! But still funny and light and all those things we all like.
-
19
Pickup Basketball Game - Live at the Pacific Crest Comedy Festival
Local treasure and premium grade standup comedian Jake Silberman tells us what he wants in a pickup basketball game. Even with very little firsthand knowledge, the hosts bring their A-game to this one since it's the very first episode in front of an audience (thanks to the Pacific Crest Comedy Festival!). We're going beneath the surface, above the rim, out of bounds, and in the zone to bring you heart-stopping buzzer beater from half court. Might also just talk about skee ball some, no biggie.
-
18
Spa Day
Bringing curves, curls, and curation to the episode, Allie Delaney tells us what she wants in a Spa Day. Needless to say we were talking hot American bodies in this episode and right around two people present were comfortable with theirs. We get into the benefits of hippie over bougie, the absolute essentialness of the cold plunge, and also Alan saw Tyler's butt at the gym. Could there possibly be more red meat in one episode???
-
17
Nap
100% likable person David Calkins shows the world how this format is done when he tells us what he wants in a nap. Like a Clydesdale or greyhound, he's comin' out the gates HARD. David finds a like mind in Leslie (she's back!), but Chad is forced to bust out his "You Gotta Be Kidding Me" card. With this much incredible debate, the episode might leave you needing a..... oh what's it called... rats.
-
16
Hotel Room
Laura Sams tells us what she wants in a hotel room. There are many of us here on the podcast who, uh... travel for work... or choir... so there's a lot of ground to cover in a very small space. Leslie is the hotel queen but Tyler has also been to Japan (has that been mentioned?). Regardless of most experienced, we all know a hotel is about way more than just staying the night. There's a feeling, an experience, and maybe even something wedged between the mattress if you wanna stick your mitts in there!
-
15
Lyft Driver
Bonafide conflict mediator and world class story teller Chris Williams tells us what he wants in a Lyft Driver. More importantly, he puts Tyler on blast, edge, and guard for the majority of the episode. It's a good thing we have guest cohost, licensed therapist, and former Sea World trainer Alissa Bagen there to talk us all down. Are you seeing the level of credentials in our guests this week? It's incredible. So is the episode!
-
14
Survivor Player
Roland Mechanik tells us what he wants in a Survivor player. His preferred players don't always have the traits of a winner, something that repeatedly needs to be pointed out to Chad (who may or may not understand the format of a podcast he hosts). Tyler is certain he'd excel in any challenges involving crafts and substitute cohost Matt Lask shares information he learned from hanging out at the docks. This is.... NOT a bad episode of Here's What I Want!
-
13
Fountain Drink
Original 3 bringing it back home! Former cohost, current guest, and likely future cohost Tyler Quinn tells us what he wants in a fountain soda. Honestly, no one should have this much detail about about how a fountain drink should be but to be honest again, I know a lot of other people who do. There are tons of aspects to talk about so we mostly focus on the shame of consumption. Chad and Tyler overlap on soda vessel preference, Leslie creates the best soda company ever invented, and we learn the first question to ask at any restaurant you ever visit when you're out of town.
-
12
Open Mic
Composer, comedian, and descendent of the Teleri elves, Jake Hull tells us what he wants in an open mic night. Everyone on the crew has experience with these and is eager to share what the scene was like at their hometown Borders. We learn what a "size girl 11" is and how to make (and subsequently lose) homemade tap shoes. But the deepest, most earth-shattering thing? "Gentlemennnnn" MAY WELL BE DEAD. I can't talk about it right now. For me the grief is still too near, plus by nightfall these hills will be swarming with orcs.
-
11
End of the World
It's the beginning of a new year, but Stephen Kunec tells us what he wants in the end of the world. This one got our brains working! We thought of how it would end, how we'd adjust and, most importantly, what kind of leader Leslie will become (hint: A great one). Steph talks fashion masks, Tyler declares himself Pope, and Chad imagines squaring off against Ellen Degeneres' tribe of headset-equipped marauders. Get ready to hypothesize!
-
10
Karaoke Song
Erin Jean O'Regen tells us what she wants in a karaoke song. We hear all about song selection, playlist placement, and what you're doing during that 24 bar musical break (hint: for one person it's push-ups). We share our karaoke go-to's and make some real plays to get sponsored by VoiceBox.This episode was sponsored by VoiceBox VoiceBux, the karaoke cash!
-
9
Breakup
Reed Shackleford tells us what he wants in a breakup. It worries everyone.
-
8
Late Night Dining
Portland comedy icon Shelley Mclendon tells us what she wants in late night dining. This is the first time someone came to us with an aspirational list and together we imagine a world where the late night culinary scene has finally caught up to its patrons. I'd list some topics we cover but it's worth it for all of this one to be a surprise. For real, this restaurant would turn the Michelin guide on its head. A FOURTH STAR YOU SAY???
-
7
Movie Ending
The gang goes for a shorter episode and Chad brings what he wants in a movie ending. Leslie and Tyler are NOT HAVING IT. Not at all. But later they realize what he means and can get much more on board with it. The overall lesson from this one is that Chad has garbage opinions and taste but is also the only one who has seen Spirited Away.
-
6
Horses in Movies
It's the episode topic that practically birthed this podcast: Willa Johann tells us what she wants from horses in movies! THRILLED. A. BOUT. THIS. A topic that many people don't even know you can have an opinion on, this episode has it all. Willa is a champion of her cause and delivers with every bullet point. Chad grew up in 4H and has horse knowledge, but nothing like this. Breyer horses, Hobbit horses in pony suits, homemade capes, high diving, IMDB for horses and stunt riders... needless to say that when we're on horseback, we cover a lot of ground.
-
5
Superstition
Lisa Christy tells us what she wants in a superstition. No need to knock wood because this one is GREAT. It's nearly impossible to describe all the ground we cover. Tyler learns what a grandma is, the rest of us learn what job oil is, and all of us learn that we follow more superstitions than we think.
-
4
Ghost Hunting TV Show
Katie Behrens joins us to tell us what she wants in a ghost hunting TV show. The floor opened up to a LOT of questions and speculation on this one! We talk about past and current ghost experiences, what exactly constitutes a ghost, and who really believes. Plus, in a daring spectral experiment, we attempt to communicate with the spirit world through EVP!
-
3
Dinner Party Guests
Anne Parmeter tells us what she wants in her dinner party guests. We learn how elaborate she is in party planning and what roles a good guest needs to shoulder. All of us end up wanting to be invited to her parties and, in a gorgeous trip of the tongue, Leslie ends up sparking one of the greatest party ideas to ever spring from the Content Basement.
-
2
Clothing Store Attendant
Chad tells us what he wants in a clothing store attendant. It consists mainly of wanting to feel rich, attractive, and stylish. Leslie shares the most amazing story of trying on clothes you've ever heard... but didn't enjoy it. Tyler hates clothes shopping.
-
1
Wedding Cake
Leslie is bringing the topic today and it's all about wedding cake. Few places are home to such might displays of preference and opinion as a wedding, and the cake... takes the cake? We learned a lot today: Leslie will go wedding cake tasting on a second date, Chad is frosting-blind, and Tyler has been neck deep in premium cake for as long as he can remember.
-
0
A Friend's Mom
Tyler is bringing the topic once again with what he wants in a friend's mom. By the end of the episode, we realized we just want validation and love from anyone we like. Are you that friend's mom for someone?

-1
Community Theater
The first episode of Here's What I Want! Our topic this week comes from Tyler and is... a community theater production. Tyler has lofty opinions but reasonable expectations, which is a good mindset for community theater.
