In 1941, Nazi soldiers dismantled one of the greatest treasures ever created — six tonnes of amber panels, gold leaf, and precious stones — packed it into 27 crates, and shipped it east. In 1945, those crates vanished. Eighty years later, no one knows where they are.This is the story of the Amber Room.Built for a Prussian king in the early 1700s, gifted to Peter the Great in one of history's most unusual diplomatic exchanges, and installed in the Catherine Palace outside St. Petersburg, the Amber Room was considered one of the Eighth Wonders of the World.
