Pillow Talk| M.I.L.F: Aging in the Arts

Let's Chat! Share Your Ideas for Episodes & OpinionSimple little stories from the "glamourous" life of a showgirl.Every showgirl loves a watchful eye and we also love feeling good in our skin. The touching and the teasing, is literally what makes it all memorable, in fact I'd argue it's more important than rhinestones and glitter. Alas, there are some performers whose names I can't recall whereas the costume or prop may linger for a moment in my mind, but the dancers that made me feel? The one's who excelled at the touch and the tease? Those are the dames whose names are still on the tip of my tongue years after I watched them grace the stage. But a showgirl is not exempt from the process of aging. So where does that leave us? Most people cringe at the thought of being seduced by a scantily clad grandma, and at some point our bodies give way to gravity and years of late night romps. Does the ingenue long to become a M.I.L.F before she fades into existence? Is there life after M.I.L.F.?In Pillow Talk, The Luvely Rae delivers short antidotes on nightlife and working in entertainment in the U.S. These stories lead to bigger questions such as: what is female empowerment and the difficulties of building notoriety off being sexy.Music  The Mooche by Duke Ellington (recorded 1928)**This podcast is recorded in a style that pays homage to talents like Miss Monitor (Tedi Thurman) and explores topics designed to stimulate conversations. Support the show

Corporate Jargon: Useful Connector or Useless Elitism

Let's Chat! Share Your Ideas for Episodes & OpinionThere's nothing like trying to explain American English idioms and slang to non-native English speakers, to really make you notice how extreme the swings in the usage of words has become. While grade school educators are asked to follow this K.I.S.S. method (Keep It Simple Sweetheart), corporate America (and college campuses) have ushered in phrases with such force that the effectiveness of this secret language is questionable. So why is it that saying something like "let's sync up later," has become the De facto phrase in many offices as opposed to "let's talk later?" The Tax Man Cometh

Let's Chat! Share Your Ideas for Episodes & OpinionIt's that time of year again, when Americans are all aflutter about taxes. Some people love tax season because it means a nice size check in the mail, while others loath it because it means they must part with money they had become attached to. So why is it that people in other countries, don't seem to share this  experience of tax related elation or dread. Tradwives Tell Tall Tales

Let's Chat! Share Your Ideas for Episodes & OpinionSometimes pop culture trends reported online seem so outrageous, I find myself thinking, "that can't be true. In the same way, the X files warned us that there was a group of powerful men who would meet secretly and make decisions that impacted all of mankind, I wounder if there's a group of "influencers" gathering together to discuss fake trends. Certainly a good business model, other influencers would pick up the stories, thus growing the myth to a point where it is so loud, that mainstream media starts reporting on it. Alas, this podcast doesn't dabble in conspiracies. This week we will take a peek at the "tradwife" trend, the name in and of itself raises some questions. In a the digital age where everyone and everything is overexposed, when do fans become a threat? When do warnings from friends simply fall into the realm of rumors? How do we trust our bodies when making a living baring our souls? In Pillow Talk, The Luvely Rae delivers short antidotes on nightlife and working in entertainment in the U.S. These stories lead to bigger questions such as: what is female empowerment and why going to adult stores on the first date is a terrible idea. Music  The Mooche by Duke Ellington (recorded 1928)**This podcast is recorded in a style that pays homage to talents like Miss Monitor (Tedi Thurman) and explores topics designed to stimulate conversations. Support the show

Americans and Trump: The Equally Obsessed

Let's Chat! Share Your Ideas for Episodes & OpinionI love late night talk shows. Laughing about politics is par for the course, but what about pop music? It used to be young people would flock to concerts to hear singers croon about peace and love, but nowadays, the audience for that type of entertainment is rather niche. Despite the popularity of anti-government music being on the decline,  it would seem that America's obsession with voicing dissatisfaction with politics is very much thriving in both media and social media.  Is there a difference between being informed and simply being obsessed? What about the center of all the debate? Is Trump equally obsessed with public perception of his actions, as influencers are with him. Whatever it is, it's certainly worth talking about.

Why War? Does the Reason Even Matter...

Let's Chat! Share Your Ideas for Episodes & OpinionPeace in the Middle East? When you call a friend in Turkey, and the first question they ask is, "what do you think about the war?" the urge to apologize, or find something to say that explains how you became complicit in another war in the Middle East can feel overwhelming. Regardless of who you did or didn't vote for, id you are living in the United States, then are you not complicit? Regardless of whether or not you live in the United States, does being a bystander not also make you somewhat complicit? Perhaps, but maybe who agrees, who disagrees, who supports, who condemns, is all irrelevant without addressing the reason why. Is there ever a reasonable justification for war? With verdict behind us, I'm curious as to what those same celebrities are saying. Regardless of what the entertainment industry thinks, Women's Right's Advocates did not hold back on publishing press releases stating their disappointment. However, there were always two cases against Diddy: the case placed before the jury and the case put before the public. In the court of public opinion, Diddy loss and it is still undetermined whether waiting things out like Louis C.K. and Kevin Spacey did, will result in an opportunity for a career comeback. There are those like Bill Cosby, where there is no coming back. There are many things that I don't like about how the country's history and about the actions of the 2025 administration; however, I am not ignorant to that fact that the U.S. has the most billionaires in the world and that there are many self-made billionaires and millionaires. There are also a lot of people who choose to do good with that wealth (funding research, conservatories, educational scholarships, investing in cancer research), but there's nothing like having someone call you out on your own "family" sloppiness to really make you think. It's like you invite a friend over to your place for dinner and after an hour they say, "doesn't that arguing ever get on your nerves" and then you realize that the neighbors have been yelling at full volume and you are have been conditioned to only react when you hear something break and think you need to call the police. If you're fixated on only talking about one thing or the bad things, then it's easy to find yourself pondering: is this healthy? Am I staying aware of what's happening in order to do something good, am I obsessed with seeing car wreckage, or is this an addiction? Many artists are looking to take a stand against proposed legislation that would make it easier for A.I. platforms to use their work without their direct consent. While this may seem a non-issue for those outside of the arts world, it does bring up questions surrounding value attributed to one's work.
