Chapter 5 - In Which Piglet Meets a Heffalump

Send us Fan MailWelcome back to our podcast journey through A. A. Milne's "Winnie-the-Pooh"! In Chapter V: In Which Piglet Meets a Heffalump, the Hundred Acre Wood characters are buzzing with talk of mysterious Heffalumps. Despite not knowing what they look like, Pooh Bear decides to catch a Heffalump and enlists Piglet to help.Their "Cunning Trap" involves digging a Very Deep Pit. They choose honey as bait, Piglet agreeing to dig while Pooh fetches the honey. True to his nature as a Bear of Very Little Brain, Pooh "tests" the "HUNNY" jar extensively, consuming most of it before delivering it to Piglet for the trap. They plan to check it at six the next morning. That night, Pooh is tormented by dreams of Heffalumps eating his honey. He returns to the pit, finishes the remaining honey, and accidentally gets his head stuck in the jar. Blinded and stuck, he bumps around, making "Ow!" noises.Meanwhile, a nervous Piglet, worried about fierce Heffalumps, decides to check the trap alone. Peering into the pit, he sees the jar-stuck Pooh, misidentifies him as a "Horrible Heffalump," and screams, fleeing to Christopher Robin for help.Christopher Robin, calm and understanding, accompanies Piglet back. He immediately recognizes the "Heffalump" as his "Silly old Bear" with his head trapped. The jar shatters, freeing Pooh. An embarrassed Piglet rushes home, while Christopher Robin and Pooh head off for breakfast, their loving bond reaffirmed.Tune in next time for more Hundred Acre Wood adventures! Winnie-the-Pooh: Chapter 3 Pooh and Piglet Hunt

Send us Fan MailIn Which Pooh and Piglet Go Hunting and Nearly Catch a Woozle. Here we get to know Piglet a bit better.  His grandfather had two names in case he lost one.  How many names do you have?  Are you named after someone you know or someone in your family?  Ask your parent to tell you the story behind your name. Piglet joins Pooh as Pooh begins tracking something.  Tracking is when you look for signs of an animal or person walking on the ground - its fun to try to figure out what critters may be going through your yard.  The best time to track is after a snow fall.  Then you might be able to see paw marks of rabbits, squirrels, or little tiny birds or mice.  What tracks have you seen?  See if you can follow the tracks to see where the critter started from, where it was going and what it was doing.  For more information and resources on tracking visit Backwoods Mama: The Ultimate Guide to Wildlife Tracking with Kids. In this story, Pooh and Piglet are tracking Woozles.  A Woozle is a made-up animal.  Using your imagination, can you draw what a Woozle might look like if you saw one?  Would it be fierce or friendly?  What do you suppose it eats?  What does its house look like? Does it sleep in the daytime or night time?  What does it like to do for fun?  Write a little story about a Woozle who is followed by a little stuffed bear and a smallish piglet.  What does the Woozle do?  Is it scared or curious?  Does it want to be friends or does it want to be left alone?  I'd love to see your drawings and your Woozle stories.  You can send them to [email protected] and if you give me permission, I'll share your drawings and stories with my audience! Please support me by liking my show, commenting or rating this episode, and make sure to subscribe to my podcast so you never miss an episode!  Thank you!  You can following me on instagram at the_imagination_weaver for show updates and special content.
