Regardless of what brought you to an ICU, enduring an episode of critical illness and its aftermath are life changing experiences. And recovery is not about “getting back to the way it was before”, but rather about moving forward; becoming whole again, accepting change and loss and breaking free from the isolation so inherent in the journey.
