Is Souf

IS SOUF is a hip hop artist hailing from Burkina Faso in West Africa. Growing up in Ougadougou Is grew up listening to a mixture of the local street music and hip hop artists from the US ranging from KRS1 to a Tribe called Quest to Jay Z and 2pac. After moving to Ghana he continued to pursue his passion for music and produced his first album entitled Kiff ou Kitt (Love it or Leave it) in May of 2004, which featured 16 original tracks. A year later he founded the independent record label Drugstore Recordz through which he produced several music videos which allowed him to make a name for himself in West Africa as an authentic and lyrical MC. His songs Boulevard, Sally (dedicated to his mother) and Mes Gars became instant hits in Burkina Faso and beyond and facilitated the beginning of his career as a live performance artist. In 2007 Is moved to the United States to pursue his studies while continuing to work on his craft as an MC and producer.
